Description
Sσlítαs is the northernmost continent of Remnant on which the Kingdom of Atlas is located. Within the Kingdom is the City of Atlas, based around Atlas Academy, as well as the city of Mantle (just below), the former capital of the Kingdom. The City of Atlas used to be a floating island that was tethered to the City of Mantle. Together they made one mega city that was home to the vast majority of the Kingdom's population. Mantle provided the lower working class, and Atlas was home to the wealthy. Unfortunately Atlas has fallen and crushed over a third of Mantle. What former glory used to exist is now a pitiful reminder of stark despair.
Solitas has a cold climate, which makes it mostly inhospitable to both Humans and Grimm. It's described as easy to get lost in, especially in its tundras. In certain areas, forests such as the Snowbound Forest are capable of growing. Wildlife amongst in Solitas is shown to include prize deer and penguins.
Auroras, or polar lights, are often seen in the night sky of Solitas.
Over time, the Creatures of Grimm grew to adapt to the cold of Solitas, now said to be the strongest species of Grimm. However, the Grimm adapted at a supernaturally fast rate, leading many to wonder the cause of this change. Grimm that adapted to this climate include the Megoliath and Sabyr, amongst others.
Known History
Several years ago Atlas was in communication with Vale and suffering from the same constant bombardment of grimm as all kingdoms. The grimm were coming out in unprecedented numbers, and were attacking with tactics never before witnessed. Ultimately, Vale lost communication with Atlas. This can only be done one way. failure of the CCTS system. How it was destroyed was unknown, it was suspected that a large wyvern grimm had done it, but those who know the secrets of Remnant knew better. There was some other force behind its destruction, most likely associated with a mysterious figure that rules over the bandit and villain factions of the region. It is rumored that they sit on a throne in Atlas Academy.
Current Status
Atlas has fallen into mantle. Crushing a little over a third of Mantle. The rest of mantle is resembles a dreadful post apocalyptic wasteland. All of Its inhabitants fled to Vale when Atlas was under attack, and the remaining ~20% of the population was forced underground in both Atlas proper and Mantle. They cower within their doomsday bunkers and vaults as every-time they stick their head out grimm swarm them, or they are slaughtered by villains who have formed several rival factions in the region.
Atlas is in shambles.
