Ninaeleth was out getting some supplies from the fresh market for the family, she was comparing green onions for freshness when she saw him for the first time. He looked like he had come fresh from a warfront but well rested. A more barbaric looking hunt she had yet to see, atop a stunningly colored janarim he had garnered what seemed like the whole towns attention just by being there. "Wow," she whispered under her breath. He seemed to be a beast tamer, old enough to be of the second rank and successful from the amount of creatures he comanded, he seemed to have his own little cloud of animals follow him about.

Maybe beast charming was cooler than she had thought, she had known it was fun but to be able to command attention like that oop...he was coming over to her. She fanned herself and tried not to panic. She was in a word flustered that so dignified a soul as him was approaching her, she was but a prentice.

Get a hold of your self Ninael, she thought at herself desperately as she straightened her spine.

"Hello there, are you um looking for something?" she asked.

Kiyelt had just arrived from Oba with his everything in tow, it had been a long but beautiful journey with good wildlife sightings and the odd hunt so that was all to the good. He was ready for a long sweet night at an inn in an actual bed. Oh it had been a good trip but an awfully long one. He looked around for a local who might be able to steer him in the proper direction.

Ah yes a Matorian girl, and so helpful too.

"Well," he rumbled, he hadn't used his voice much during the crossing and it came out a bit croaky, he cleared his throat. "I am in need of your best Inn here, it has been a journey from Oba and it is never really easy." It wasn't easy but still he felt that he made it look good. It was good to be humble.

"Oh um well, I hear good things about The Painted Cracken." She looked down and brushed her hair behind her ear. "Sea Pony is pretty classy if you like that extra comfort." She hadn't had the inking to visit inns in her home town but sometimes her father did take them out for a special treat, her sister loved it and she thought it was pretty cool too.

"I guess you spent one too many nights just beneath the stars huh? Bet its pretty out there though, beyond Matori. I went to Zena once but thats been about it for travel." This guy looked like he had seen it all.

"You have no idea, but I am here to reform. I need a bed. I need good food and I need a place big enough to house all my critters, some need to go to new homes if you know anyone looking for very fine stock and pets." One had to be discerning and he was afraid he had collected a bit too many pets to sustain reasonably for forever. It was going to be so hard to see them go, but they would go to good homes he would make sure of it.

"It was very beautiful out there almost painfully so, you don't realize what your missing being inside all the time until you let the wild in." He had done enough of this that he knew the value of the untractable lands which separated the cities and districts of tendaji.

Was he for real? For being a scary looking dude he was certainly polite enough. His janarim sniffed her and she idly patted its nose. It licked her and she took her attention right off of him and held the janarim's head, giant teeth and all in her hand. "Arn't you a sucky baby. Did he ride you all the way here, do you need love?" She pulled a small dry critter treat from her pocket and offered it. She smiled up at the rider. "Oh he is so well behaved! How long have you had him?"

She stroked the smooth skin and looked up to see two sailscales clinging to his neck, eyes whirling at her. "Well, you do have quite the collection don't you?"

Kiyelt tilted his head, Skiyaii did not like that many people he was usually indifferent at best to the vast majority of the people he interacted with but it was almost like he knew this girl though she seemed to think that they were newly met. "Interesting, he doesn't like most people, you should be flattered." He swung down to continue to chat. "I have had him for quite some time. Tell me would you perhaps be interested in being a beast charmer? I think you have natural talent."

He had already gotten an assistant the last time he had come for a quick visit before moving. The waterling had agreed to accompany him to Oba to move the rest of his things.

He was mounted on Rijiri the Xaraan but was currently quite zoned out and quiet while Kiyelt chatted.

"Er well, I had thought about it, I still haven't decided between that and becoming a shaman and helping people you know?"

She ducked her head. Embarrassed that he had complimented her natural talent, she had always had a way with animals. It had been a part of her since birth.

"I just wish I could do both you know, but to get really good you need to focus on your craft." It was just so hard, she loved both things equally. The need to decide was tearing her apart from the inside.

Kiyelt chuckled. "At least either way you would be a betterment to society one way or another." He paused. "You could always garden as a hobby and pursue the beast charming, or you could combine them and become an animal doctor, if that was your thing.

It had been so long since he had decided what he wanted to do that he couldn't remember if beast charming had been his only choice or not. It has so much become a part of him it felt like it had rewritten the past, all of that time alone. Brooding. Training. Surviving. In a land so harsh and so unsuited for his heritage. But it had changed him too, made him more lean and hard then many of his people.

He looked like a warrior and yet was a very peaceful person for the most part unless someone messed with people's rights or threatened the family of janarim that he had lived around for the past 5 years.

She blinked, muling over what he had said, her brow furrowing. Both, she could do both? Was that possible? Would she prefer that? Being an animal Dr. would mean some pretty emotional times, there could be some things that she might not be able to erase from her mind. But she really did want to help animals. So many people would come to her for care, she would get to meet all kinds.

"You know that actually sounds quite wonderful!" Her face broke out in a huge smile. "Thank you!" He had solved everything in a short exchange of friendly words.

"Your welcome." He smiled back, he couldn't help it, he liked helping people so much. It felt so good to help her out with something that to him now seemed quite obvious. But then again he had been around the bush a time or two.

"Now if you would be so kind, point me to an Inn, the best preferably. We deserve a bit of pampering." He grinned at the waterling who was his assistant. The boy was looking at him with the face that said he was hungry again. Kiyelt nodded his understanding. They had spent long enough together that a look was all it took to communicate the boy was clever.

"Oh yes," she nodded ducking toward the direction of her favorite. It was so homey and decorative, yet sophisticated and excellent in customer service. She wondered if he planned to settle here but she was not yet brave enough to ask.

Her grocery shopping forgotten for the moment, she ushered him to the Inn and even went in with him. She waved the friendly lady over and made sure that the process was underway before she snuck out the front door to get her shopping done.

Dinner was going to be a bit late, but a girl had to do what a girl had to do.

Kiyelt and co. followed after the waterling, Kiyelt taking in the sights of this new part of town. It seemed to be a peaceful and beautiful village. Smallish but with enough bustle to be fun. He would like it here, at least until his wandering heart took him elsewhere but who knew how long that would take. He had been in Oba forever and a day. Yet Zena still did not call him home. Though he really should visit his poor parents, Mom was going to smack him for being gone so long.

The in was lush and well appointed and he was so ready for bed it wasn't funny. Once the animals were settled he barely noticed that the girl was gone before heading up to bath and bed. Sweet, sweet bed.

The next day saw her out at the market again, eagerly waiting to see if the iceling guy would come back. He was so interesting and she wanted to know if maybe he would teach her some of what he knew about animal handling and any healing he had picked up over the years.

She craned her neck this way and that in the busy throng. Idly she wondered how long she could wait. She had sped through her chores to maximize her time sure, but well she felt kind of silly.

Kiyelt was happy, so incredibly happy, he was someplace new and being pampered like a king. This hotel was a godsend. His apprentice was having fun too. Frolicing for hours in the bathtub with some aquatic animal toys Kiyelt had bought for him in Oba. It made him happy that the kid was enjoying his time. He was a tough one and Kiyelt thought that soon he would strike out on his own. He was getting very good and could probably start his own small scale business for the smaller critters.

Later than normal they stayed until Kiyelt again took up responsibility. He liked his own cooking and they needed a few things like fruit so might as well get some groceries now.

"Ah yes there he is," she muttered to herself as she ran her fingers through her hair and pretended to be looking at apples. She side eyed over her shoulder to peek and saw him approaching alone, without the boy. He was so handsome he took her breath away. She hadn't seen too many pure icelings here due to the heat and so she heard snobbery. But the heat didn't seem to bother him.

She studiously ignored him as he got closer. She was a patient hunter.

She reached for an apple but dropped it. Which sadly was not on purpose.
