It wouldn’t be a star festival without a meteor shower! Right on time, a beautiful array of shooting stars graces the night sky. Most meteor fragments appear to be little white or yellow lights streaming across the sky, but if you watch closely enough you may find that some of them seem to be pink, blue, and even purple in color. The scientists have reported that it’s just different components burning up as they enter the atmosphere, but there’s something undeniably magical about it.
It would have been more of a surprise if Jason weren’t out to see the meteor shower. But he had been prepared. He had come out with his telescope, a blanket, other things he may have needed and was ready to watch it! Cynthia had come along of course, and she couldn’t help but giggle at the sight of just how excited he was to be watching this. “Really Jason, you can calm down. It’s going to happen regardless.” She said, trying to calm him down.
He turned to her and smiled. “Can’t help it. They always look so amazing and I haven’t gotten to see many of them. I mean, there are plenty at the observatory, but that would mean trying to predict it there and I haven’t found a way to do that yet.” He replied, once again turning his attention to his telescope and fiddling with it, making sure that it was all ready by the time the first meteor could be seen.
Cynthia couldn’t help but watch him on the blanket, hoping that he would be done soon so that they could enjoy it together. They really hadn’t spent enough time together, what with her still going to High School for her final year, and him entering University, but now that they both had a break, they had been trying to make up for lost time. And that meant spending almost every waking moment together. It was only lucky that he had an apartment to himself now that he was out of his first year. Though she had to admit, his cat often interrupted their shenanigans, but he was a cute cat so she always forgave him.
‘There, finally got it.” He said as he made his way from his telescope and sat next to Cynthia, giving her a slow kiss. When they parted Cynthia couldn’t help but want to do more, but knew that they could do it after the shower was over. “We’re going to have to continue that.” She said, giving Jason a smirk. He couldn’t help but blush but smiled back at her. “Of course.” He replied.
Just as they got settled in the first sign of a meteor went across the sky, and Jason couldn’t help but squeak in excitement as Cynthia watched him. She giggled, but made sure to lie back and watch the shower herself. Jason on the other hand was already at his telescope, looking around as wildly as he could, when he suddenly paused and Cynthia wondered if his telescope had broken. “You okay over there?” She asked, getting up and going over to him.
He nodded. “Yeah I am but these meteors… they aren’t like anything I’ve seen! Usually they’re white or yellow, but this time they seem to be different colors! Pink, Purple, and Blue! I only wish I had something to record this…” He ended with a bit of a whine.
Cynthia hugged him and gave him another kiss. “Well, that just makes it more magical now doesn’t it.” She said, guiding him back to the blanket. “And we can enjoy this together then.” She said, making sure that he relaxed so that they could just take in the sight, trying to sear it into their memories…
