For Felicity, being the center of attention was nothing new. Sure, her attention was primarily on Jai, sometimes on so-called friends, vaguely on her mother—more frequently on the randoms that milled around looking at some of the goods to be auctioned. But that didn’t keep her from noticing when people stopped to stare at her.
Turning heads was a pass time of hers, after all, a near requirement when she went out. She preened and glowed under the flow of near-constant compliments and sweet words from the mixed crowds they mingled with. Hell, just the fact the room was filled with such positivity instead of the usual snide sneers and giggling gossips she was used to was an astounding breath of fresh air.
What then, exactly, that caught her attention to the unknown figure, she couldn’t say. She’d been enjoying conversing with a table of similarly aged randoms who were there for the auctions, exchanging stories about clubs, classes, and hijinks. Her gaze barely wavered from the table save to note where a server was with alcohol, or watch Jai as he laughed and socialized with other people outside of the Negaverse. Something that was, to her, a marvel in and of itself. Knowing his other face that, obviously, they couldn't fathom, and seeing him socialize with such people... it charmed her, truly. Made her feel warm and fuzzy. Captivated her. She'd no interest in changing the focus of her attentions, not at all.
It just… flickered, like a twitch of a finger hitting a button on the TV remote accidentally. Barely noticeable till you were staring at a new object of focus, a new scene that was entirely unfamiliar to you. Felicity blinked, staring ahead towards golden eyes she couldn’t place. Some bell set off in the back of her mind, some ring-ding of familiarity that set the hair on the nape of her neck on end. Her head tilted, blue eyes half-hooded as she played bored while the stranger with familiar eyes lingered beside one of the various tables of goods for the auctions.
"I'll be right back, just going to take a peek at some of the goodies on tables," she murmured to Jai, leaning up a little in her chair to press her lips to his cheek before she stood. She left her clutch with him, and her drink, her smile nothing less than candy-coated poison as her eyes lingered over some of the women at the table who had been clearly trying for a while to occupy Jai's time and attention. She might give them a moment with him, but they'd best not get the wrong impression--he arrived with her, he'd be leaving with her.
After all: she could make his life far, far more of a literal hell than it even remotely could be at the moment, if he tried otherwise, and Felicity had zero qualms against the idea of ripping any chick's starseed out of their inflated chests.
Her dark heels clicked primly against the floor as she moved about, nearing some of the tables arranged with goods for auction. Her eyes, again and again, found themselves meeting the same familiar golden set of the stranger, and she was entirely set on speaking to him about this conundrum...
Until she got near the tables, only to realize he wasn't anywhere to be found. She blinked, spine straightening sharply as she looked about, blonde locks lifting a bit and swaying. Finally, she locked eyes with him again, though now he was... certainly a lot farther away than she would have figured someone capable of moving in such a short span of time, given the crowd. And, well. Physics. Her brow quirked, and she began to wander in that direction.
The experience was repeated, and Felicity felt a small snarl forming in the back of her throat as she met the neutral golden gaze once more, again far across the room. Further than anyone should have been able to get in mere seconds. She'd certainly not seen anyone teleporting around like she'd seen some higher up agents. Was her head playing tricks on her..?
Something about the whole encounter had goosebumps forming along her forearms and her nerves on end. She nearly laughed--she couldn't recall a time when the sensation of someone staring at her had ever unnerved her.
She'd give him a lot of credit for that, at least.
