Quote: The Destiny City Reservoir opened about a year ago and is an easy escape from the big city. It’s a five minute drive outside of the Eastern side of town and features clear water and sandy beaches--although, the sand here is notorious for squeaking when you step on it. It’s a hot spot for all fun summer activities, but it’s been back in the news recently for mysterious reports of some strange, aquatic monster. Some accounts say they’ve spotted a twenty foot long, snake like creature capable of rearing a long neck high above the water. It’s hard to tell if the videos are doctored, but there are too many rumors to dismiss easily. Something strange might be lurking deep in the water. Are you the type to investigate this or is it enough to dampen your waterfront plans? While you may not ever actually interact with the supposed cryptid, you can spot a strange creature in the distance. And, who knows what youma are crawling in the area, anyway?

Even though Oort hadn't been there at last year's grand opening of the Destiny City Reservoir, it didn't mean that he didn't know where it was or that he hadn't visited post the grand opening–
Even if such visiting had been done as Briar rather than Oort.
Crowds still wasn't something that he was particularly fond of whether he was powered or unpowered.
The reservoir was a great way to be at the beach, without being at the beach - and it was a lot closer than the actual beach–
Even if the sand had a strange tendency to squeak for some inexplicable reason.
Maybe it was a Destiny City thing - after all squeaking sand wasn't exactly the strangest thing that had ever happened - even if it wasn't exactly normal.
Not that it was the sand, squeaky or otherwise, that had prompted Oort's little reservoir excursion on this particular evening - rather it was the reports that he'd seen in the news recently - something about sightings of some sort of aquatic monster, even though reports had been somewhat patchy.
Either way it had left Oort curious enough to go and investigate himself, which was how he had come to be powered up and at the reservoir.
Although there hadn't been anything suspicious as yet.DaisyMilk Hope this works as a promised start Daisy, but let me know if not and I will tweak

In the times that Namaka had visited the reservoir she'd never been able to understand how or why the sand here squeaked. It was mildly unnerving and made her feel, at times, as if she was trodding on teensy tiny mice. It was a ridiculous thought, but given enough squeaky sand and it started to feel like some sort of answer.
Shaking her head to rid herself of the thought, she instead focused on her reason for coming. Sightings of a Nessie type monster in the water and draw enough attention that she wanted to check it out. Of course, none of the stories involved anyone being hurt, so that was good. If there was a creature, maybe a way could be found to move it to someone less attention grabbing.
Or at least that was her hope. If it turned out to be a hoax, well, there wasn't much she could do since it was a time honored tradition to make up monsters. As if there weren't enough real ones in the world.
Well, what could you do, she thought.

It was hard to tell which of the two Oort picked up on first, whether it was the 'squeak-squeak' of the strange sand or the aura - but whether it was one, the other or perhaps a mixture of the two, it still took a moment or two for him to realise that he was no longer alone–
Too be fair he had been a little distracted by something glinting in the sand, had been crouched down in order to get better look at it and then had eventually ended up scooping it up only to realise that it was the one of the star charms that he'd seen being given out because of the ongoing star festival.
Oort tucked the golden charm into his sash anyway, sand squeaking underfoot as he straightened and half-turned - because it wasn't as if he could 'un-sense' it now that he was picking up on the aura.
It was chaotic, but didn't feel like a negaverse aura, reddish eyes turning towards where he thought that he had heard the sound of squeaking.
"Uh hello?"
And it would have been pointless to try hiding, given the way that the sand squeaked at every footstep and so Oort didn't even bother to try as he started to step towards the other set of squeaks–
Well at least where he thought he'd heard the sound of the other squeaks.
"Hello?"
And perhaps it wasn't one of his better ideas to call out when there was potentially a sea monster about, but whilst Oort was still picking up on the chaotic aura, he was finding it hard to believe that it belonged to the monster–
Because for a start the aura felt kind of like a dark mirror aura - and for a second - the 'monster' was supposed to be some sort of sea monster and Oort doubted that any sea monster worth its salt would be out there just squeaking along the sand.

"I heard you the first time," Namaka sighed as she squeaked along over the sand. Why was the sand even squeaking? Why? It wasn't right or normal. What genius had thought, Squeaking Sands! People Will Flock For Miles!
Still grumbling to herself, she could tell that whoever had called was making their way towards her. Well, that made things a bit easier, she supposed. Running her fingers through her hair, her eyes flickered across the beach, finding every escape route available. The caller hadn't sounded hostile, but she wasn't taking any damn chances. Who the hell knew what went though the crazy brains of half the White Moon folk.
"I'm just gonna stay right here," she called back. "And I'm not looking for a fight, so please be chill, mmkay?"

The sound of the other's voice confirmed that he was indeed walking in the correct direction, even if the feminine voice that had spoken up had kind of sounded a little grumpy - but whilst Oort hadn't had that many encounters with dark mirror senshi, the few that he'd crossed paths with hadn't been that bad–
Well okay Ptoley-of the very long name had been weird and kind of annoying, but Namaka had been pretty cool.
It had been years since he'd seen either of them though.
Oort tried to recall if he'd crossed paths with any other dark mirror senshi as he continued to squeak-walk his way across the sand, but those were the only two that really came to mind.
Maybe he hadn't met any of the others.
The voice spoke up again, distracting his thoughts, something about staying where she was and that she wasn't looking for a fight, the voice sounding closer this time around.
"I'm not looking for a fight either" Oort called back and he thought he could see a figure up ahead "So that's cool with me."DaisyMilk Apologies for the delayed tag back, work has been pretty crazy lately

Well, if he (the senshi had sounded more on the masculine side) wasn't interested in fighting, then Namaka wasn't going to do anything to force the issue. Instead, she forced her tense shoulders to relax and attempted to coax some cheer into her voice.
"Cool beans, brah. You come to see the monster too or what?"
She wasn't entirely convinced that there was a monster in the lake, but given the way the world seemed to work, who knew? Monsters were a rather regular menace in Destiny City, after all. Deciding to wait for the other senshi to get closer, she explored the little patch where she stood, occasionally glancing over to where the voice had come from. And when the senshi got into view, she felt her jaw drop. She knew that shock of red hair and those glasses. But this senshi wasn't the cute little boy she'd once talked to.
"What the hell," she wailed a little in dismay. "You got tall! When did that happen?"
litian Not a problem! Life in general has been crazy here @_@

"Yes" Oort admitted, because it wasn't really as if he had any real reason to hide why he was down at the reservoir–
And besides it would have been kind of hard to miss the whole 'monster' thing given that it had been on the news and everything "You..."
His voice tailed off, the question that he'd been about to ask left unasked, as the other senshi came properly into view and he realised that he recognised her - well at least Oort thought that he recognised her.
"Namaka?"
Her next words unexpected though they were, had the side effect of Oort feeling that it was indeed the senshi that he had met in the park some years back when he'd still been a little kid.
He absently scratched the back of his head, messing up the strands up generally messy red hair even more "Uh I grew."
It was perhaps something of an understatement.
Oort gave her a small but genuine smile, remembering that she'd been pretty cool back when they'd first met.
