Quote:
The City has been lit up for the Star Festival with banners and twinkling decorations strewn off the windowsills of shop fronts and windows. The gardeners at one particular park have put their heart and soul into creating a fairy's paradise: Fairy lights have been carefully dangled from trees to make strings of stars, little beaded jewels have been hidden among the hedges, and even the old cobwebs have been sprayed with just a touch of glitter. The park is open to everyone and the citizens of Destiny City have been invited to respectfully explore the hidden wonders that have been placed throughout. The park is magical enough on its own but there have also been reports of a strange, ethereal and shimmering stranger in the park. The glimmer of a beautiful costumed figure fluttering through the park has been passed around as rumor, and no matter what anyone claims to see, no one can take a picture of it. As if simply seeing some magical figure isn’t mysterious enough, there are also reports of mischief and small pranks being played at the same time this figure seems to appear.

Nemuri didn't really like stepping into the unknown as much as she preferred sticking to the tried and true. However, Runelucia, the little cat that had given her her new pen and super powers had told her that she and her twin were magical girls now, who fought baddies sometimes, and thus, Nemu felt somewhat duty bound to go with Satori to the 'fairy's paradise' that they had heard about, where there had been talk of there being someone in a costume roaming around. Not that anyone had managed to take any pictures of it, but the talk had reached the twins via overhearing their parents talk about it, and thus, here they were, about to investigate for themselves.

It had been Nemu's idea that they should power up, in case there were any of those 'baddies' around, and maybe also for kind of a sense of security. They had picked a secluded spot where they wouldn't be seen, though hopefully nobody would question their outfits regardless, before heading deep into the park on their own. The crowds had dispersed, thankfully, heading for other attractions in other parts of the city, but Hokkaido couldn't help but remain on her guard in spite of this.

Honestly, though... pranks and mischief? Did Sato- er, Aomori, have something to do with this?

Satori couldn't help but be drawn to the rumors of pranks occurring outside of her sphere. She prided herself on pulling off pranks, especially noteworthy ones, but this one's definitely outside of her control. Her retort would fall on Nemu's deaf ears so Satori refrained from speaking up. Instead, she figured that it'd be more productive to go to the heart of the source.

While she pulled Nemu along with her, Satori readily agreed to powerup. After all, who knows what lurks in the unknown... moreso upon knowing that mysterious happenings are occurring.

"Mushi..." Satori spoke brightly, her confidence apparent in her voice, "We got this, just so you know. There's no way this mystery will go unsolved under Aomori's watch!"

She puffed her chest slightly and cheekily grinned. Just so you wait, shimmering spirit or whoever you are!

Hokkaido still had her doubts, but if anyone was an expert on pranking people, it'd be her very own twin. After all, back when the twins were doing some research on their 'spheres', they had found that zashiki-warashi, the thing Aomori was a senshi of, was really good at mischief! So... maybe she could relax slightly, assuming this wasn't really some big prank she was being left out of the loop on.

"They said no one's been able to take a picture of it, so how do we know we've found the, um... the thing they were talking about?" the chibi senshi mused aloud, unsure of how to proceed.

"No picture, huh? That won't stop me and Hokkaido..." Aomori whispered to herself. She cast glances over the area and then pondered out loud.

"If we can't go by photo evidence... then we could try looking around? Following pranks?" Aomori stated the obvious, and added her own true desire as a wrap.

"And, as long you're with me, master prankster, you'll be safe!" Her eyes glimmered as she turned to Hokkaido and spoke out of reassurance.

Aomori was confident that they'll get through this and perhaps, put an end to the elusive prankster's mystery. After all, there is only room for one notable prankster... and Aomori was disconcerted that these pranks seem more successful than hers. That's what she believed, anyway.

Well, yes, and also, no. Hokkaido was stuck in a perpetual loop of feeling regret over even coming up with this plan, but also feeling like she could maybe put her trust into her twin, as long as they stuck together. This was a new experience for the both of them, and she really wished they had something to go off of, a push in the right direction, for what they should be doing. Rune had given them magical phones that they could use to call for help, if needed, but hadn't mentioned, well, anyone they could call.

Unless they were just supposed to call Rune.

(And Hokkaido didn't know how Rune could help them, in this case.)

"They said that the person shimmers, so we should look for that, too..." she meekly mused, though otherwise agreed with Aomori's ideas.

"That's all?" Aomori pouted slightly. She hoped.. that there was something more conclusive, pointed, and just, something more than a mere phantasm. Before she let her disappointment cast over her face further, Aomori figured that they should just look regardless.

Together with Hokkaido, the two senshi traipsed carefully into the park. It was festooned with decorations befitting the Star Festival, and by and by, they shone wonderfully. They glittered against the light cast upon it, and some fluttered to the faint breeze. Breeze?

Aomori promptly froze and braced herself slightly, She shifted her eyes around the area on the apparent lookout. "Hey... I think there's something nearby..."

Hokkaido stopped in her tracks, because, well, Aomori did, but made a point to keep a safe distance behind her twin... just in case. Although they were on the hunt for the mysterious shimmering figure, she hadn't expected they'd run into them this soon.

"Nearby?" she asked, lowering her voice to nearly a whisper, "Wh, what do you see?"

"It's kind of ghastly... ghosty?" Satori struggled to describe what she saw. She leaned forward and from a distance, she noticed that below the lights, some shimmering... glitter? ... could be observed.

"Um... I think it's glittering, too. Is this it?" Satori gasped slightly before collecting herself. "Y'know what, do you think we should beat it away?"

She expected something a bit more dramatic... but it's clearly... spectral enough to be interesting and extraordinary.. and potentially dangerous. Regardless, this... specter was competing with Aomori's reputation as the local prankster. Holiday or not, she won't settle for unfair competition.

"Ghostly!?" Hokkaido repeated, more than a little alarmed; she didn't really like ghosts, just like she didn't like bugs. But okay, she could do this- as to how they'd beat a ghost, she didn't know, but teamwork! Yes. Maybe.

"We should... at least do something," Hokkaido implored.

"Mhmm," Aomori nodded sagely in agreement, "After all, it's probably gonna bother innocent people..."

Aomori wasn't quite thinking of the overall safety of unrelated people, not that she would leave them be. Rather, she felt more concerned about the fact that she, the efficacious Sailor Aomori, could be overshadowed by this specter.

"So, do you think.... that could we attack it together? Maybe with our powers combined, we can make it go away," Aomori suggested.

"We could try..." Hokkaido began, but trailed off, because to be honest, what did their magic do, anyway? At the same time, it was on them to protect all the other festival goers from this shimmering specter of sorts, and even if she wasn't here, Hokkaido could be pretty certain that Rune was counting on them.

"On three, then?"

“Mhm. On three… two… one..” Aomori counted down together with her sister, her eyes glued to the wavering ghastly figure. On the drop of one, Aomori moved forward.

Here goes nothing..” Aomori puffed her cheeks as her eyes glimmered with determination. She approached the elusive figure and screeched, “Hey you! Weirdo ghost or whatever! Have a piece of ...tokotokoshiiii-!!”

A flutter of slightly noisy shadowy footprints appeared on the ground, encroaching towards the ghastly figure.

Three, two, one, go!

Aomori sent her magic the shimmering specter's way, and Hokkaido, still having no clue what her own magic did, could only follow suit. "Have... have some, um... dream eater?" she called out, as she summoned an ethereal cutsey baku. Hokkaido watched, wondering what the baku would do, but then...

The specter charged right at them, making the scariest face that Hokkaido had ever seen! Shrieking in horror, the chibi senshi of baku took off running, nearly dropping the green star keychain she had picked up earlier before entering the park, her new magic giving her an unintended boost.

Eventually, when she stopped running, Hokkaido would realize she had been separated from her sister, but in the meantime, it was time to run away!

ok that's a wrap on my end lmao

As much as Aomori would boast her successes and acts of courage... this time, they aren't of any help. the shimmering specter loomed and dashed towards her and Hokkaido disregarding their attempts of bravado.

"AHHH nooo! Go awayyy..!" Aomori exasperated in fright. It was apparent that her attack failed. Heck, the specter was largely unaffected!

Still, without looking back or looking for where Hokkaido may have escaped, Aomori made a mad dash away from the specter in her own right, which happened to be in the opposite direction of her sister. But hey, if she got away from the specter (and optimistically, her sister, too), then they'd be in the clear...

Meanwhile, deep in Aomori's heart, she couldn't help but grumble on how much of a failure that specter was as a prankster. 'That's no prankster! It's nothing but a real spook!'
