Nereida found herself skimming through various books leaving no page unturned. Being a scholar left her always thirsting for more information no matter how much time she poured into her research. While others worried about time flying she simply accepted herself lingering patiently for an answer even if it took an eternity. Today she was lingering purposely just skimming page per page as she sought an answer about the newer plants growing within Homewood. As she skimmed over the words, images something tingled within her entire being causing Nereida to pause her studies. Rising to her feet she leaned down closing her book. Without a single word, she began walking away accepting her call from the Great tree. Her brother Zahir had recently been summoned leaving Nereida to be the next in line. For a time she followed the river branching off into the streams. This path resonated with her own we-being as it leads her to toward her destination.

Hearing the trickling of the water she paused once more filling up one of the bottles hooked onto the blanket that covered her back. Filling the crystal liquid within she replaced the lid as it settled back to its resting place. If she were to go on a journey she'd need water, nourishment of life.

Once that was settled she made her way toward the great tree in her own time letting nothing rush her thoughts or her senses. Grass long and lush began growing sparser leaving rigid stalks of weeds unkempt and parched from the sun. Her last trip to the barrens wasn't pleasant but, it wasn't uneventful either. As the sand filled around her hooves with the sun bearing down she spotted an ancient tree ahead of her. Walking slowly she came directly into view lowering her head in respect for it was an honor to be called to this mystical place.

Stepping forward she cleared her throat acknowledging the entity standing proudly in front of her, "I have heard your call. I am here".

A feeling was rushing over her standing there shadowed by the Great Tree. Nereida knew she must decipher the message before her real journey would begin after she left the Tree's presence.

Though no breeze passes through, Grandfather Tree's leaves rustle as Nereida approaches.

Choose one of the following prompts for Nereida's dream vision.

Quote:
While travelling through Homewood you meet an unfamiliar foal. The foal acts strangely and doesn’t communicate well. It appears to be orphaned. On closer inspection you realize the foal is sick with some disease you don’t recognize. The disease might endanger the rest of Homewood, but this poor foal…

Quote:
You find yourself in the ruins, deep inside a unit built by the Others. The musty smell of old paper fills your nose as you realize you're surrounded by books. None of them are written in a language you understand.
What do you do?

Quote:
You awaken in an area of complete darkness. The smells are strange and unfamiliar and the only sound is softly dripping water. As you stand, you realize there are stones closing in all around you. You’re in a maze and you need to find your way free while effectively blind.
What do you do?

Nereida breathed as her eyes opened to complete darkness surrounding her. The air was damp as the terrain seemed hard and foreign to the feeling of her hooves. Reaching out with her head she let her horn brush lightly along the walls noting there were stones. Turning in a full circle she continued this process testing the walls while pawing at the ground. It seemed she was placed in some sort of maze. Seeing how patient she was Nereida closed her eyes beginning to listen for any sort of sign she must follow. One singular thing announced itself in a form she knew well but hidden from her entirely.

Drip-Drip.

Water! Perhaps she needed to find her way through this maze to achieve the test she was placed within? Very well she'd do just that.

Keeping her eyes closed Nereida took a few steps pawing the ground while reaching out with her horn. There was no need to panic or rush so she used this time to investigate, research this particular creation she was placed within. If her hooves carried her straight she managed to bump into a wall rather right and left remained open to continue forward.

Drip-Drip.

The faint sound of dripping water still intrigued her leaving only Nereida's senses to guide her. Deciding to follow her instincts she turned right still keeping her eyes firmly closed as she scented for the water that was dripping nearby. Figuring it was most likely through the wall on the other side she continued her observation. When she bumped into a wall Nereida turned to go left leaving her senses taking notes of anything strange. Once again her horn touched a wall so she turned following straight this time. Ears swiveling she reached out blind where the water was dripping. Momentarily, things went deathly quiet so she exhaled a breath of patience. Time was standing still as she was moving, trying to figure out this maze that intrigued her to walk blindly in an area she had no inkling where she was.

Drip-Drip.

Was the sound getting louder she pondered sniffing the air? The scent of water was getting stronger she was sure of her discovery. Once more she stopped directly in front of a wall. Right, and left pathways were able to be walked through leaving Nereida with the question going left or right. Pausing she scented the air once more noting the dripping was getting louder toward the left. Taking a step forward she paused then shook her head. This was a test, after all, leaving her to remain right as she walked further in noting the dripping was seemingly getting louder.

Drip-Drip.

Another step convinced her yet another wall was placed right before the water would be found. Now things became rather tricky leaving her with a straight path or one to the left. Pondering once more she opened her senses for the familiar dripping which was so loud now she could hear it over her deep breaths keeping her thinking cleared. The way the water was hitting the floor left her to believe it was landing in something from some sort of contraption able to guide water the "Others" most likely made. Leg extended she paused feeling dampness straight again with a resonance of water clinging to it. To the left, her instinct suggested there might most likely be a dead end comparable to the several times she encountered before. Leaving instinct to guide her she moved slowly, ears swiveling to the sound growing even louder. Using her horn she reached out feeling nothing which left her satisfied she chose the correct path. A few more steps still left the path widening yet she still set her thoughts on the conclusion that this wasn't the end of this journey. Much like the Barrens she had been set in a predicament trying to find her way out of something she couldn't openly just exit. While the Barrens caught her off-guard being caged here she had a choice to make. This test was looking into her sub-conscience and how she'd react to her surroundings. One last time Nereida paused listening to the water near her that was dripping.

Drip-Drip.

Then she realized something continuing to walk toward the water that dripped just out of reach. Much like the attempts of the Noulicorns this water signified Vykelli along with the world's heartbeat which was slow but reviving. Moving forward she began picking up her pace following the sound now never stopping. She was fully starting to understand this message leaving her feeling accomplished as her steps carried her further then the maze had allowed before. The further she traveled the louder the water sounded in her ears till she felt the stones turn to the soil beneath her hooves. As Nereida finally reached the dripping water brilliance swept over her reminiscent of a giant waterfall enveloped of shining light. Still keeping her eyes firmly closed she smiled quietly to herself. As the light began fading a breeze tickled Nereida's nose as if whispering for her to open her eyes.

Drip-Drip.

As Nereida opened her eyes she stood stationary beneath the Great Tree once more. The sound of the dripping water could be still heard singing in her ears. Nodding she finally spoke once again in the presence of the ancient tree, "I will do everything in my power to heal Vykelli. Thank you for showing me the way".
