CWF CHAMPION Rob Van Dam was backstage, preparing for his upcoming match by performing various leg exercises, warming himself up so he wouldn't be rusty when he got in the ring, and when he was told it was time to go, he begins walking towards the ring, through hallways and other backstage areas, stretching his arms while on his way. He smiles at people he was passing by, before eventually making it to the curtains. When he was given the signal, and when his theme started, RVD began to head to the arena.ROB VAN DAM!!!...... THE WHOLE EFFIN' SHOW!!! As the beginning of RVD'S theme song he used in TNA would play in the arena, the audience cheers for their CWF Champion, as Rob Van Dam walks out from backstage with the CWF title over his shoulder. He stops at the top of the ramp and raises both arms quickly and a pyro goes off. RVD walks down the ramp smiling at the audience and shakes a few of their hands, making their day. As he was making his way down the ramp, the announcer introduces him.
"Introducing at this time from Battle Creek Michigan, weighing 235 pounds, he is the CWF Champion..... ROB VAAAAAAN DAAAAAAMM!!!"Rob would make his way to the ring and leaps onto the apron and gets in the ring, walking to a corner and raises his arms, and then raises the CWF title proudly. He gets down, goes to another corner and does the same thing, before doing his signature Rob Van Dam taunt getting the crowd to go along with it. He gets down, paces around and starts warming up his legs so he doesn't come out rusty when the match begins. RVD's theme fades out and he waits for the bell.

"The Wings of Icarus" (V2) (CWF edit) which would be a heroic, angelic-melodic like theme song would blast over the PA system and the audience would ignite in excitement, singing along to the instrumental to show creative and management just how over Matt Gennison was. Tonight was the first time in two years that Matt Gennison would step foot back into a CWF ring and it would be against the top guy right now in the company, Rob Van Dam who had the most up respect for but tonight would be no different from how Matthew treated his opponents in that ring. He would step out onto the stage to a large ovation. The fans knew he was the TNWR Champion and TNWR Universal Champion from the times he would come out with the titles while holding the CWF Championship all at the same time, but tonight, Matt Gennison appeared with no championships in sight for two reasons. 1. Because he had respect for Rob Van Dam, and didn't consider himself more important than the current champion, thus not shitting on the fact that RVD is the guy right now. And 2, those days in the shine are over.. for now. Matt would have his eyes on Rob Van Dam as he would walk down to the ring slowly, taking his time. "AND FROM CHICAGO ILLINOIS, WEIGHING IN AT TWO HUNDRED TWENTY-SEVEN POUNDS... MATT.... GENNISON!" as the announcer blared out, and the audience clapping and cheering for without a doubt, a future hall of famer in this business. Making it to the ring, he would make a turn and walk up the steps, grabbing onto the ring pole for leverage to step on the apron, and duck his head under the top rope, stepping over the middle rope. Now in the middle of the ring as his theme song would continue to get intense, Matt would be looking around with tears in his eyes, still appreciating the support that the fans still showed even after he lost his title, not caring if he wasn't the champion anymore. Matt would feel teary eyed. But it didn't effect him.

Rob Van Dam kept himself warmed up during Matt's entrance, well aware of what Matt did in 2018 when he disposed of anyone who came after him and his title, and he knew that their pathes have never crossed in one on one action before, mainly because they were on different brands and different title pictures, but after taking down Seth Rollins, RVD is on top and looks to stay that way even though his title isnt on the line, he doesnt want to lose any of the momentum he has going for him. Once Matt's entrance was finished, Rob would hand his CWF title to the referee and he immediatly hands it to someone on the outside who keeps it at ringside. RVD waits for the bell to ring.

Taking off his jacket and giving it to one of the camera men to hand to the timekeeper's area, Matt would be motioning his arms to shake off cobwebs, as the referee would then sound the bell for this match to get underway. Not underestimating Rob one bit, Matt knew he had to neutralize Van Dam shortly in attempts, but knowing such task wouldn't be easy.

Rob circles the ring with Matt, and as the two close in on each other looking like it would start with the traditional lock up, Rob stops real close to Matt and does his signature taunt instead!

Unmoved, Matt would let Rob Van Dam do his taunt.. and then look to go for a cheap knee to the midsection!

Matt would then continue to knee RVD in the gut while he was in a vulnerable position, enough times until he was pushed against the ropes!

Matt would continue to throw more knees, as the referee would walk up and count. Stopping at the count of 3 and a half, Matt would step back with his hands up, with the referee giving him a warning.

Walking back up to Rob Van Dam, Matt would look to pick him up by his head and slam his head into a nearby top turnbuckle!

RVD athletically puts his boot on the top TB blocking his head from hitting it then uses that foot to hit a quick roundhouse kick on Matt instead!

Unexpected by the reversal, Matt would be stopped in his tracks! receiving the roundhouse, he would fall to one knee holding his mouth, and quickly standing back to his feet!
