Kiyelt strolled down the street of the city, the different smells of the food drifting on the air, but something was missing, he yearned for the piece of his life that had been lost so mysteriously. He no longer thought that hiding in the desert forever with the janarim was the answer. He shook his head and parted curtains that dangled between stalls in the walk way.
Birds of various species chirped nearby and he paused to look over the stock of species from different regions, was that a sailscale?
He crowded closer to get a better look.

Yejide gathered the pack she had strapped on and pushed the door to the shop open with a creak. It was a bright summer day in Oba, which made everything hot and sweaty. At least in the buildings the clay and the shade kept things semi-cool.
The inside was filled with the chittering and squeaking of animals of all sizes, and normally Yejide wouldn't be in a place like this, but she needed to evade a couple of people for the time being. She looked around at the cages and displays and stopped in front of something that she had never seen before. The note next to the cage said it came from Sauti.

He began to back up smiling, and gently bumped an oban woman by accident. "Oh sorry! I got a little excited, sailscales were the first creatures I ever tamed. And my Iniu still will not let me forget it." He rubbed his neck in embarrassment. "What do you think of them?" He was curious simply, and he hadn't had a decent conversation with someone else in weeks. There were drawbacks to living full time in that desert with the janarim. Bugs were one lack of people was another. Although sometimes it was a perk. "My name is Kiyelt."

She felt the bump and Yejide had to make the quick call as to whether she even wanted some stranger to know her name. She gave him a once over with a flick of her eyes and decided that he didn't look like the type to go causing trouble. "Yejide." She introduced herself.
She cocked her hip and relaxed, loosening her hold on her bag and taking another look at the animal in the cage. She definitely didn't have to look paranoid or standoffish, that was for sure. There was no way she was being followed at this point. Or at least that's what she told herself as she reasoned it out. "They're alright. A little on the small side. Look like they could be pests." She blurted out. Ah, that could have been rude after the guy had just told her about his... Iniu? Was it? eh. "Sorry." She offered as an afterthought. "I'm used to the company of my janarim. This is like a flea compared to him."

"Oh I am under no illusions, my other sailscale, Norcrest is definitely a pest. When I first got him he was bitey and liked to rearrange all of my paperwork." Familiars were a blessing and a curse, but the love and attachment outweighed the muddy footprints and chewed shoes. "Janarim are much more practical I find." He had one of his own and he adored him. The sailscales were just a little easier to clean up after..on some days.

The ice earthling in front of her agreed, making note on his other misbehaving sailscale. It was a small relief for Yejide. She hadn't offended him. Not that she minded either way, but when you offend someone you tend to stick out more in their mind. She was always ready to blend in and get lost in a crowd.
"Yes, my Race has been helpful, especially when I was traveling through Jauhar." It felt like it had been years ago now since she had gone, but the memories were clear enough. A lot of traveling through the night and living her life out of her bag until she had actually landed somewhere she could call home. "Have you been? To Jauhar?" she asked him. Though that was silly. If he was from Zena he would have had to have gone through Jauhar. But maybe he hadn't stayed long, or just passed through.

"Yes I have been to Jauhar, I have a friend who lives there with her family, and a few fellow warriors that I used to know. They all have large families, its quite fun." He enjoyed Jauhar once in a while but it was a bit humid for him at times, he had grown used to Oba heat but add sticky wet jungle, and well, there were limits to what he wanted to push his body through. He passed some coin to the proprieter to pay for the critter feed he had bought. He always got some of the food here from this gentleman because he used the Jauhar bugs as a base for the feed and it made everyones scales shine so bright.

Yejide nodded as Kiyelt spoke. "I lived in Jauhar for about a year before I came back to Oba." There was no need for her to get into detail about being captured and dragged back to face her mother.
Kiyelt paid for what it was he had come in for and Yejide tilted her head to get a better look. Ah, food. Got it. "So you live in Oba now?" She offered. She didn't really have to hide in the shop anymore, so she was free to figure out whatever else she was planning on doing. Leaving with Kiyelt would probably make her look much less suspicious as it was anyways.

"Yes I do, though, having been here for about five years, I think it might be time to travel again and perhaps settle somewhere else, that is why I am getting some extra food, where I go, ALL of my critters go too. I will be looking for good homes for some. A tamer's work is never finished, but it doens't feel like work you know?" He loved what he did and he did it well. "I am looking forward to a break from the heat though I know I will miss it here." He strode away from the shop, pleasantly surprised that she didn't seem to be done talking yet. Chatting was so nice. "I liked Jauhar but it was a bit too humid, at least Oba is a dry heat."

Yejide agreed with him thoroughly. "Yeah that humidity is a killer." It was nothing like Oba's heat. She would take this any day really, though maybe cold would be nice for a change.
"Yeah, when you do what you love..." She trailed off. Everyone knew the idiom she assumed, and her 'work' didn't feel like work either, though it wasn't like she had an honest profession. She took advantage of those who were in a position to be taken advantage of.

She seemed distracted. "Would you, I mean, would you care to..go for a meal?" He tried not to blush but he was sure he failed. She looked like she could use a refresh and some good conversation. "I er, wouldn't mind." He was so out of practice. Why did he do this to himself, there was no way she would say yes, he was sure she had elsewhere to be. "I get it if you don't want to." He looked off. She wouldn't be the first to leave him. Not that they were a thing he just had such bad luck with ladies. So many ladies.

Yejide had been looking out into the crowd of people they were walking through when Kiyelt's question caught her thoroughly off guard. Did she seem like the type of girl who was looking for a date? She stopped walking where she was and gave him a look before seriously thinking it over. "Well, I mean, I could eat." She began talking but then thought better of her words. She didn't want to give him any wrong ideas. "It's not like... a date though, right? We're just both hungry and it's hot outside." She reasoned.
"We should go somewhere with drinks." She added and then resumed her walking. "Are you familiar with this town? I can take you to a spot."

"No not a date, you just look hungry to me. I am only slightly familiar with this town and I would definitely appreciate your advice on a spot." It had been so long since he had drunken anything. "Oh and I well, I haven't drank in a long time so if I tap out early its to save us both some embarrassment." "It is very hot outside. For some reason its easier to deal with the heat when Im in the bush, might be all the buildings." At least he was going to have some company. He needed to reasses his modus operandum when it came to people. He needed more socialization. "It is a nice place here though, very, very beautiful."

Yejide nodded her head as he spoke. She hadn't really given it too much thought as to the appeal of her town, but she guessed it could pass as nice. "Well I have a place I got to a bit down the road here. I can get us a good deal on some ale." She offered.
She led the both of them down the crowded road and loosened her grip on her things as she walked. She had to relax more, she continued to remind herself. She pushed the doors open and cooler air met them. It was dark inside, and she was thankful for the atmosphere. It always felt nice to be somewhere that removed you from the realities of Oban summer. She pointed out a booth further in the back and led Kiyelt before taking a seat. "So this place has a great specialty dish for being a little hole in the wall." She commented as they sat down.
