Magic and War

Solo Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750

Prompt
The earthlings were welcoming and open to the ways of Kahikina, willing to trade knowledge for knowledge. In the initial years of relationship development, the people of Kahikina learned about battle and magic. When before a rare few could cast spells, now anyone could learn if taught properly.

Healers, casters, fighters and warriors. All of these new jobs were novel for the trade-based Kahikinans. What an expansion to a world they never knew!

This solo-only prompt is for you to explore how your character deals with the new classes and magic of Tendaji. Do they embrace it? Shun it? Are they interested enough to take on a new class compared to before?

Naia’s dreams had come true! The young Hapuna had always wandered about the colorful reefs of her home ocean and dreamed about going on epic adventures. Now that earthlings had appeared along their shores the girl had realized that their world was changing. Unlike others who were wary of the lessons the earthlings taught she fully embraced it all. She wanted to learn how to fight so that she could adventure and protect herself! It explained the strange abilities that she had started feeling within her spirit. The earthlings explained that her kind could learn magic and even fight! While her family may have wanted to encourage her to stick with crafting, a much safer hobby, the girl could not resist the allure of being able to fight against dangers. She could protect Pounamu that way and they could finally venture into the unknown!

Excitement lit up Naia’s gaze as she darted about the ocean. She could do this and she would do this! Every day since she had gotten older the young Prentice had taken to wandering the shoreline along her ocean home. If she kept working on her tolerance to being on land then it could help her to interact with the earthlings in the homeland. The thought made her giggle lightly as she skirted around several reefs decorated in vibrant colors of orange and pinks before flipping backwards with a flourish. Bubbles marked her escape as her feet kicked strongly towards a side current, glee making her giggle as she fought to keep flipping through the waters. As her lithe body got swept up towards the surface of the ocean waters the girl found herself adjusting to the warmth of the surface waters which had soaked up the heat of the sun. While she loved the beauty and fun of the underwater world the girl couldn’t deny how loved the sunlight made her feel. It was like a lover’s kiss, a parent’s embrace, anything that made her skin tingle with warmth and flushed her cheeks a rosey pink. It was no wonder that hearing about the earthlings had pushed her to embrace the feeling even more. Her desire to be out on the surface went beyond simply sunbathing now. She wanted to fully embrace it all and learn about the earthlings and their lives on the land. Oh if only I could be a part of your world! Would she then be jealous of her own kind and the treasures that they had hidden beneath the sea? Possibly. The thought made her grin as she darted through the waters some more. Maybe she would simply never be satisfied until she had explored everything the world had to offer! Naia was free spirited like that and her desire to explore had never died with age like her family had hoped.

It actually was possibly her family’s fault. Naia was stubborn like that and refused to let anyone decide her fate! She knew that her grandmother would have her locked up in their home all day if she could and talk about boring! Growing up it had been hard enough to sneak away from the small area surrounding her family’s home. The place was so small and familiar that as a youngling she had actually managed to name every nook and cranny nad could even notice any new cracks or changes in the formations. How was that exciting? Naia hated the idea of it. Safety was not worth it! She would much rather live an exciting few moments than waste away after years of boredom!

The girl’s frown quickly turned into a wide grin as she broke through the surface of the waters and stared around at the world above. Truly she wondered what treasures the earthling lands had in store for her. Naia was determined to learn how to fight so that she could venture forth and see them for herself. It was just a shame that the earthlings could not survive under the water like her own people. If anything she would have shared her own world with them in turn! The thought made her expression flicker for the briefest of moments before she turned away from the surface to head back towards home. She could not wait to talk to Pounamu more about the earthlings and to find out exactly what her friend wanted to do in the near future! She just hoped it would be something exciting and not boring like what Naia’s family would consider to be safe.
