Coming Together

Solo Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750

Prompt
The past five years have continued to meld and mesh the lands of Tendaji. Where once tribes kept to their own lands, many were now seeing their colorful neighbors on a regular basis. While the cultures still stand, a welcoming sense of curiosity and openness has resulted in a peace across the entire region.

What have you done these past five years? Have you explored? Have you welcomed others? What has your story been and how have you grown in this new future of Tendaji?

This solo-only prompt is for you to explore the growth of your character these past 5 years in relation to the cultures of Tendaji. You must walk us through how your character's impression of the other races has changed or evolved, and how they've grown as a result.

Chrysanthe stared at the blank journal pages resting on the small vanity in front of her. The golden hybrid girl had gotten into a habit of writing after her boss, Tyri who was almost like an adopted mother to her, had gifted her a small leather journal decorated in golden and bronze flowers. They were made of leather as well and fit along the front of the journal with little metal pins that had been seared into the book. She had given it to Chrysanthe so that she could write her feelings and document her days. Apparently I am not very good at expressing myself. The thought made her grin slightly as she flipped through the pages. So far it had just been about daily life at the cafe where she worked and had learned to bake over the past five years. Chocolate cake that day and a really good sweet bread after that…..oh and that new herbal tea.

It was so strange to think that Belrea had become her home so easily. After running away from home Chrystanthe had wandered through Tendaji in search of her purpose in life. The drama behind her birth, her mother’s affair with a Matori man, and the feeling of being an outcast hybrid in a sea of pure wind earthlings had damaged the girl in a sense. She never really felt at home and even her mother had treated her more like some sort of doll to admire rather than an actual being with emotions. Even when she had travelled to Matori she never managed to find the man who had fathered her. The man who had ‘tricked’ her mother into sleeping with him out of her desperation for a daughter and as a result broke their family. The thought made Chrysanthe grimace as she flipped through more pages. She had actually never managed to write about those feelings, her pen had been close to spilling those painful memories, but every time she stopped herself. It was still too much for her to express. It was much easier to just write about the new recipes and the shenanigans that Tyri’s family members often did while they visited their mother’s cafe in the city.

Even in Belrea where she was obviously a foreigner the girl felt more at home. She was thankful that they had thought to hire her and give her a room above the shop to call her own. Chrysanthe had tried to keep things light the first year living here but after some time things had begun to collect in the room. New outfits from the local tailor’s shop, some new leathers, crossbows and different types of arrows that she collected and crafted herself during her free time at home. Everything was peaceful here and she was actually content….maybe even happy if she dared to think that way.

Well save for some of the cafe’s weird customs and outfits. At first she wasn’t exactly thrilled about the outfit that they had wanted her to wear but after time she had grown accustomed to the skirts and the shoes provided to her. It was not uncommon for her to play with the buttons on the blouse she wore but it was tolerable. She just preferred to leave the top few buttons undone when there weren’t many customers in the cafe for her to bother with. She still found anything that was near her neck too stifling, especially when she had always worn loose clothing before coming to Belrea. Even now she still preferred open neck outfits whenever she wasn’t in the formal cafe attire. Chrysanthe even wore a swooping neckline in the comfortable dress that she was currently wearing while relaxing in her room. It was her day off and unfortunately the dreary weather outside had kept her inside so here she was looking over this journal.

Talk about nostalgia. Chrysanthe shook her head before she slowly closed the journal once more. Before she had come to this country she thought that she would be forever wandering because she would never trust anyone or any place to keep her safe again. She had wanted her independence and was afraid of being manipulated like she had been in her childhood. But now after several years in Belrea it appeared all Tyri wanted was for Chrysanthe to be happy. It also helped that Chyrs was good at helping in the cafe and had taken a liking to baking. If not for her habit of training with the crossbow and doing all the heavier labor for the cafe Chrys probably would have been a bit rounder from all the sweets she had eaten the last five years. Not that she would mind. The sweets were definitely worth the risk. Chrysanthe chuckled at the thought before pushing away from the vanity. Maybe because it was so dreary she could go downstairs and bother Tyri.
