Coming Together

Solo Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750

Prompt
The past five years have continued to meld and mesh the lands of Tendaji. Where once tribes kept to their own lands, many were now seeing their colorful neighbors on a regular basis. While the cultures still stand, a welcoming sense of curiosity and openness has resulted in a peace across the entire region.

What have you done these past five years? Have you explored? Have you welcomed others? What has your story been and how have you grown in this new future of Tendaji?

This solo-only prompt is for you to explore the growth of your character these past 5 years in relation to the cultures of Tendaji. You must walk us through how your character's impression of the other races has changed or evolved, and how they've grown as a result.

Kitya studied the pile of letters that were scattered across her bed. The young yaeli girl was sitting cross-legged on a patchwork quilt and had a pile of pillows at her back. Each pillow was unique and some even had brightly colored silks from overseas. Her papa knew that she enjoyed making pillow forts and ‘nesting’ in her bed so every time he visited the mainland he would pick up something from the markets, especially in Oba where the silk pillows were super vibrant and especially plush. He would also send letters while he was overseas and it was those letters that she was studying now.

“Oh this one was pretty good.” Kitya smirked as she picked up one of the pieces of faded parchment, the elegant writing of her father almost like artwork decorating its worn surface. Settling back against her pile of pillows the yaeli girl read the piece again like a fond memory before resting the letter against her chest, “Five years ago. Wow.” She closed her eyes as she reflected on the last five years. Her Papa had been in Belrea then while Mama had been pregnant with the twins. At the time Kitya had definitely been a spitfire but whenever the twins had been born she had calmed down just a little bit to help their mother with the new babies. Papa had come back soon after their birth, bearing so many gifts for all of them that she couldn’t believe he hadn’t taken a second ship just for the packages, and their house had been lively again. It definitely had been a fun time! She still loved reading his description of Belrea and how the cities were so elegant and colorful with new contraptions she had never heard of before. Already she was impressed with the fact that he had actually sailed through the skies but to think about everything else they had in the new continent was mind blowing!

One day she would go to Belrea. Kitya nodded at the thought. At least in the last five years her Mama had allowed her and Xenia to go to the mainland with Papa a couple of times. Kitya had explored Matori’s beaches, gotten into a few tricky situations in Oba and even touched the edge of Jahaur where the trees grew like giants! It was all so amazing. No wonder Papa loves to go on adventures so much! Kitya smiled thoughtfully as she traced her fingers along another letter. That one had been from Tale which was slightly further from Matori and so she hadn’t been there just yet. Maybe next time she ventured overseas she could explore that country. Unless her Papa allowed her to go all the way to the new lands? She doubted it though. Papa and Mama both agreed that it was better if Papa visited the new lands first to check exactly how dangerous they were before anyone else ventured out that way.

“Oh well.” Kitya let out a soft sigh as she twisted in her bed and turned onto her stomach so that she could start piling the letters into stacks, “I guess I can just keep working on training my keldari while he’s out overseas again.” She had gotten really good at dancing in the past five years after all. She was even knowledgeable about all the habits of Keldari and Kitya was proud of the feat. Her familiars were adorable and while others would probably shudder at the sight of the keldari slithering through Kitya found them cute and charming. It was what inspired her first attempts at dancing. Between helping Mama and watching her two youngest siblings, Kitya felt pretty accomplished. She may have also taken up exploring more like her Papa but that was kinda on the downlow. Only Xenia really knew a lot of her exploits in the Yaeli wilderness though Papa knew some of it. They just had promised to keep it away from her Mama to save her from worrying too much. Kitya loved her mother so she tried her best to keep anything that would make the older Yaeli woman panic away from the house. She had built a little shelter for her Keldari in the woods near their mostly underground home and had even started storing any dangerous items or letters about her exploits in hard to find places in and about the house.

Not like anyone would check the piles of journals that her Papa had in his study. It would take days to read through all of those! At least he had it organized in a way that he could navigate the journals and it was in a set few that Kitya stored some of her letters. The rest could go into her mattress or into the box that she had buried deep in the woods. She was actually going to have to bury some more soon so that her Mama wouldn’t find them. The last five years had been busy after all and she had a lot of writing to do if she was to keep up with her Papa!
