Coming Together

Solo Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750

Prompt
The past five years have continued to meld and mesh the lands of Tendaji. Where once tribes kept to their own lands, many were now seeing their colorful neighbors on a regular basis. While the cultures still stand, a welcoming sense of curiosity and openness has resulted in a peace across the entire region.

What have you done these past five years? Have you explored? Have you welcomed others? What has your story been and how have you grown in this new future of Tendaji?

This solo-only prompt is for you to explore the growth of your character these past 5 years in relation to the cultures of Tendaji. You must walk us through how your character's impression of the other races has changed or evolved, and how they've grown as a result.

Uzumati woke up in a cold sweet. The man was nestled in a pile of furs that were pulled together in a makeshift den that he had crafted out of the hollowed trunk of one of Tale’s giant trees. The tree itself was still active with its long branches stretching towards the skies and nuts filled its various branches during the years. Uzumati had taken to snacking on them whenever he did not have the energy to go out and either hunt or fish for his dinner. It had been a loner’s life for the longest time and it was only in the past few years that he had taken to visiting his uncle on rare occasions in the local village. Earthlings whispered of the wild boy who came to visit his uncle’s forge almost like he was a story, a fantasy created by the locals who spoke of a guardian living in the great forest to the north of the village. A wildman who fought off witu and kept the village safe from other dangerous beasts that would want to claim the territory should they have the chance to do so.

But in the moment Uzumati looked like a young child with the way he thrashed from his nightmares. Silent screams ripped from his lips as he twisted and finally bolted from the pile of furs which he had snuggled into last night before falling into such a deep slumber. The dreams had been brutal reminders of his past. A great fire which had taken his family and for the longest time his voice from him. It had been a blaze which had haunted his body and kept his side aching for many years, the scars from the trees which dug into his skin that night along with some of the flames that had licked at his body still faintly visible against his darker skin. In his nightmares he was once more the child who had ran for days before finally stopping in the forest to pass out. He had curled up into the dirt, his body covered in blood and soot, and it was in such a sorry state when an older hermit had found him.

The older hermit had taken him in for a few months and treated him for his wounds. They had shared a treehouse in the forest before a group of Extremists came and attacked. “Run boy!” He had called out before pushing Uzumati forward and moving to intercept those strange women. Run. Uzumati’s mind rang with the word as he whimpered there in his hiding spot. Even now when it had been years later the word still echoed in his memories. At first he had been so traumatized that he had lost his ability to speak and to even socialize with others normally. He adapted to the woods and acted more like a beast than a man.

However, the last five years had thrown several earthlings into his life that sought to change his ways. First a flower had entered his life to quickly leave it again. Her presence had made him interested in earthlings once more so that he ventured further away from the wilds and was caught by his uncle who had thought him dead. His uncle helped him and made him gauntlets so that he could fight like a berserker and less like a wild creature….though the semblance was still there in his fighting style. Then a strange hybrid girl had befriended him and helped him to try and speak again. Now the flower had returned to his life and Uzumati was confused. The past five years had taught him a lot about earthlings but he was still wary. It was so much easier to live like a beast but why did he feel so tempted to try and change for the flower? She was like a beautiful sunrise that lit up his life. The thought flushed his cheeks as he slowly calmed down from the nightmares by thinking of her. She could calm and center him from the chaos raging inside. She had even helped to save him from a witu. Uzumati was still thankful and he couldn’t help smiling as he remembered them sleeping side by side that same night.

To think that over five years ago he would have been disgusted by the thought of visiting an earthling village but now he was actually contemplating visiting more often. It was strange how a few years could change his life and his perspective on things. Uzumati sighed as he brushed back some of his wild hair. He would have to get up for the day and attempted to look more civilized before leaving the forest he called home.
