It was getting a bit warm for Oduin's taste, even though he knew there were parts of Tendaji in which this weather would be considered positively balmy. For a boy who had spent a good chunk of his childhood up north near the border of Zena, though, it was warm. It was almost noon. The prentice squinted up at the sun, a quick calculation telling him that there was at least another hour or two of heat left - not ideal for any heavy lifting or manual labor. He'd make up for that by working into the evening if need be. For now, he thought, a nice spot of shade was in order. Whipping his head around, he glanced about until he found a decent-sized tree and scrambled toward it, heaving himself to the ground with no small amount of drama. "Ahhhhhhhh!" he sighed, breath escaping almost involuntarily as he hunkered down at the base. Lovely.

It was a bit warmer than what Ejskoia was used to as well, having spent most of her time in the same northern area. Sometimes even farther into Zena itself. Like Oduin, she'd sought out the shelter of a tree and it's cool shade. Amazingly it was the same tree too. Only, the girl was in the tree no simply under it. Shed climbed up to the middle branches, one leg dangling down as she lay along one. Her spine flush with the branch beneath her she turned her head so that she could look down. Oduin hadn't lay directly under her so she could see him a little from where she was. "Welcome to my humble tree. She likes compliments as payment for sharing her shade." The girl smiled a little as she spoke. Ejskoia had no issues with sharing the coolness with someone else. Of course she was a bit surprised she hadn't noticed them before. Had they just walked up or had she really been that far spaced out?

"Oh!" Oduin started, propping himself hastily up on his elbows and craning his neck to locate the voice that had come unexpectedly from higher up the tree. It hadn't even crossed his mind that someone else might have been here first, and the last thing he wanted to do was to put someone out. But she'd sounded friendly enough. He could almost hear the smile in her words as she'd said them. "Excuse me! I didn't see you there. I hope you don't mind the intrusion."He caught sight of the dangling leg and pushed himself up into a sitting position, pivoting around so he could see her by simply tilting his head. "Oh, this tree is an absolutely essential tree," he proclaimed, raising both arms to hail the humble tree. He'd always been what his mother endearingly liked to call "dramatic," and there was little hesitation in him when it came to an exercise like praising a tree. "There's no tree quite like her, she gives the most refreshing shade in all of Sauti. We wouldn't know what to do if we couldn't take breaks underneath her especially cool shadow on a hot day."He looked up at his new companion and grinned, bright and wide. "Do you think that'll do it?"

Her bare leg swung slightly, taking on a slow rhythm while the other was bend at the knee so she could prop her foot up against the branch she was using as a bed. She kept her grin as she heard the exclamation of the person below. Her eyes caught sight of them fully sitting up and raising their arms in praise before giving compliments to the tree they both were under. Ejskoia giggled, liking the theatrics the boy showed. After he was done and asked if that would do she paused for a second, moved her head so that she could look up at the leafy canopy so she could think then nodded. "Yes, I think she liked that very much." The rustling of the top leaves spoke of a soft wind that eventually made it down to them, making the warmth a lot more bearable. Ejskoia shifted slightly so that she could look back down at Oduin. "See, she approves." The girl stayed relaxed where she was, not bothering to try and sit up so that she could better conversate or anything on the like. Instead she lifted her head just a little to fix her hair that had gotten all ruffled by the branch then laid it back down so that she could close her eyes to once more enjoy the shade. "Just don't fall asleep down there, the sun will move and find you eventually." She spoke as if she knew from experience.

Oduin laughed aloud as he heard the wind rustle through the trees and ruffle the tips of his hair, almost as if on cue. It was perfect. "You were totally right," he said with a decisive nod. He leaned his elbows on his knees and propped his head up with his hands, peering up at the tree and the girl above him. She seemed terribly laid-back, which Oduin deeply appreciated, especially on a day that felt like it had been made for relaxation. "Hm, that's a good point," he mused, sparing a glance for the bright sun shining beyond the limited shade of their tree. Getting caught asleep by the sun meant a good burn for sure, considering how generally pale and unused to sun his skin was. Oduin looked back at the tree, jabbing a finger at a branch that looked suitable for holding his weight. "Would you mind if I climbed in that branch over there?" he asked brightly, leaning forward. "Seems like a shame to hide from the sun, but I'd definitely regret it if I didn't."

She nodded her head. "Mhm. The trees like our praise." Ejskoia also happened to praise a lot of things. The trees. The rocks. The clouds. Whatever made her day nicer really. She wasn't quite looking at him when he pointed to a branch but when he asked the question she moved her head so that she could see a bit better. The girl grinned at him and waved one hand toward said branch. "I don't own the tree so be my guest." Ejskoia brought her hand back so that it rested over her stomach lazily. "The sun understands why we hide sometimes. He's a bit too warm some days." She nods her head matter of factly then closes her eyes so that she can enjoy the swing of her leg as it dangles. "Be careful climbing up. The bark is a bit loose at the bottom." She figured she'd let the boy know so he didn't fall or get hurt.

"She deserves it," Oduin agreed with a nod as he reached up for the lowest branch and pulled himself up. He swung his right hand up to a neighboring branch, matched a foot to the first, and pushed himself up into the tree. With a little bit of careful maneuvering, he shimmied out onto his chosen branch - a nice thick one that didn't look like it could snap under his weight - and settled himself onto it, nice and careful. "My name's Oduin," he said, tilting his head back so he could glance at her. She seemed very comfortable where she was, simply enjoying the feel of shade and bark, away from the watchful eye of the sun. Perhaps she was more in the mood to simply relax than she was for an in-depth conversation, but Oduin liked to talk, and quelling his tongue was never the easiest task. "That cloud over there, it looks like a fish riding a capramel," he said, peering up through the cover of leaves.

As he climbed up into the tree to the branch he wanted to claim as his resting spot she fell silent. Ejskoia simply relaxed in the shade. When his name was given she looked at him again, a small smile tugging at her full lips. "Hello Oduin. I'm Ejskoia." The hand that lay across her stomach lifted up so that she could give him a half wave before it went back down to it's resting place. "It's nice to meet you." A small chuckle followed her words. Since it appeared her new companion liked to talk she kept her head turned so that she could face him. Though she did look up through the leaves so that she could see the cloud in the sky that he spoke of. She had to turn her head a little to the side, a tilt of sorts, to get the view that he had so she could see the shape he described. "A little." She agreed. Then her eyes went looking at the others to see if there was something a bit more interesting to point out. "That one looks like a Kinfa wing." The streaks in the sky flared out just enough to look like the outstretched wing of the large birds. "Too bad I can't have one of those feathers for my hair." She mentioned idly.

"It's nice to meet you too!" Oduin replied, sounding terribly enthusiastic. There was hardly a person he'd met that he didn't immediately wish to befriend. Sometimes his parents warned him that trying so hard to befriend everyone he came across could sometimes backfire on him, but Oduin figured it was as good a tactic as any, especially when he had to meet so many new people every time they up and moved to a new settlement. "That does look like a Kinfa wing," he mused, gazing up at the clouds until he found what she was pointing at. Majestic, long clouds that almost looked like feathers, once the imagination was churning. "That could be a cool thing to do though! Try to retrieve a Kinfa feather," he said happily. Whether it was possible or dangerous was beyond his set of considerations. It sounded like a wonderful adventure. "Have you been to Tale? I think it'd be spectacular to see one there."

"Hm? From a wild Kinfa?" She considered this for a second. "It would be dangerous. I am told they are territorial birds." And to pluck one of their feathers out would likely irritate them. When she was asked if she'd ever been to Tale she shook her head. "No. My brothers would never allow me to go that far. I've been into Zena before though.: She gave a small giggle to that knowledge. "I was scolded and not allowed to leave their sight for weeks after." It had been a fun adventure though. Ejskoia had met someone new and she'd gotten to see the snows as they melted during the strange weather the world had experienced some years ago. Lifting her head a bit she focused on her companion. "Have you ever been?" The girl wondered if he had any stories to tell of Tale.

"It probably would be..." Oduin said, lips pursing as he considered it. The prospected of being attacked by a wild Kinfa certainly did not seem enticing. "Maybe they lose them sometimes. And you could buy them from a Kinfa tamer." That seemed much less exciting, but no doubt a much safer way of going about it. "Zena!" he echoed, eyes brightening at the mention of their neighbor to the north. A terribly fascinating place, populated by terribly fascinating people. "I've only been to the border, when we've sold lumber to the Ice Tribe. The ones I've met have been very reflective of their land." Oduin chuckled. Certainly, not all of the Ice Tribe was cold and distant, but he'd certainly been in the presence of a few merchants who were. They hadn't seemed terribly interested in being friends. "I've only set foot in Tale once," he added. "We went to Isd one year for lumber when the harvest in Mez was meant to be low. That area didn't feel too different from Sauti. The Leaf Tribe traders had a lot of respect for the land, though.

There was a point. Surely the birds shed a feather or two on their own. Finding one in the wild or even getting one off a tamer might be wise. It would certainly ensure that injuries were avoided. "That is a good idea. I may have to do that." Ejskoia had to chuckle a little at her own failure for not thinking of such a thing. "The one I met was very considerate. They seemed worried I might freeze." Her hand moved up to do the typical finger to the mouth as she thought thing. "I didn't dress for snow and he offered me his coat." Of course it had been a temporary thing. She'd only gotten to wear it until she was back in her own lands, then she'd had to give it back. Hearing that the boy had gone into Tale caused her to shift so that she could half sit up, one hand holding onto the branch so that she could prop herself up some. It was fascinating. "I'll have to sneak that way next then." Being the baby of the family meant over protective brothers so sneaking is usually what she did. "Maybe I can find a Tamer in Isd."

"You might be able to find a tamer in Isd. Although I heard they're usually a bit farther south. If you can make it past Isd, though, I hear the Savanna there is covered with sand that feels like walking on pillows!" Oduin said happily, the mere thought of pillowy ground bringing a smile to his face. He would love to experience it, though his family had been cautioned that the plains were terribly inhospitable. What a shame. He wouldn't have minded sleeping on soft sand. "And the forests!" He threw up his hands to cover his face at the exclamation. His whole family had truly appreciated the way the Leaf tribe had adapted to life in the forests. It was a sight, compared to the rocky topography in Sauti. "Huge, twisty trees with all kinds of juicy fruit, mmm!" Oduin shook his head, looking over at Ejskoia, clearly enjoying the memories. "My family spends a lot of time in Mez, so we have a... thing for trees, apparently."

"I will have to look into that." Ejskoia might not be able to go until she was a bit older but she would still enjoy the trip when it happened. "I have to admit I never thought about going into Tale." Her interest had always been north, to the snows. But hearing Oduin explain it made her more than a little curious. "I would love to see their forests. The Zena trees are a bit prickly." Their bark was rough, the leaves just the same, and over all they seemed imposing. And no fruit that she had seen. As her new friend mentioned that his family had a thing for trees she chuckled. "Nothing wring with that. Trees are wonderful to sleep in." It was why she was in one right now, after all. "My brothers prefer the rocky lands."

"You might love their forests, then," Oduin agreed happily, leaning back just a touch to daydream about those lush Tale forests. Quite a different landscape from the one he was used to, and part of him wondered if there was an element of chasing grass that seemed greener just because it was on the other side. But he couldn't quite imagine the novelty of such lovely trees ever wearing off. "And you do need to get Kinfa feather, so you've got to go now," he added with a laugh. "You're right, they are great napping spots," Oduin agreed with a hearty sigh. So comfortable, so supportive. So much better than the ground. "What do your brothers like about rocky lands? Better shelter?"
