Coming Together

Solo Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750

Prompt
The past five years have continued to meld and mesh the lands of Tendaji. Where once tribes kept to their own lands, many were now seeing their colorful neighbors on a regular basis. While the cultures still stand, a welcoming sense of curiosity and openness has resulted in a peace across the entire region.

What have you done these past five years? Have you explored? Have you welcomed others? What has your story been and how have you grown in this new future of Tendaji?

This solo-only prompt is for you to explore the growth of your character these past 5 years in relation to the cultures of Tendaji. You must walk us through how your character's impression of the other races has changed or evolved, and how they've grown as a result.

Youngling - WC 838

Thea sat on the fence to one of the many pens that held traders’ livestock and watched the people around her. Sulburi was busy as usual which was no surprise. Seeing as she’d grown up around the hustle and bustle of it all none of the noise or even the mass crowd bothered her. She used one hand to balance her on the fence while the other played with the braided rat-tail she had. As more and more people passed by, busy talking amongst themselves or shopping and doing whatever it was they were doing, her green eyes studied.

Over the years she’d noticed that stranger people had started to appear. Different colors in skin and hair. Their clothing was even strange. Well, in so much as she wasn’t used to seeing it. Thea had never left Oba so she was used to seeing mostly what Oban’s wore. Occassionally she got to see Matorians and some of the traders that came from Jauhar but even most of them opted to wear what the Obans did simply because it was better equipped for the desert terrain. A smart move on their part, she always thought.

Now, as she watched, silently from her perch, she wondered where they all came from. Which territory, which city or town. Heck, there had even been talk from the merchants that more land had been discovered somewheres out in the big open ocean! Theanduri was curious to know more about it. She’d been too little to remember when the Belreans had come over with their flying boat. But now she knew they came over regularly and that there were even people going over there. The thought to travel that way did cross her mind. She just wasn’t sure if she wanted to get on a regular boat or a flying one.

She’d never had a closed mind about other people and cultures like some people did but she suspected that was because she was of mixed race herself. Her mother was from the Leaf tribe and her father was an Oban. Looking at the two, even if they were the kind of adorable that made one wanna gag, they didn’t seem like a match but it worked between her parents. There was love there, even across the races. So Thea had learned from that. And she’d admit that she’d been afraid of some, mostly the Alkidike’s and their huge size and odd appearance and the Yaeli with their odd glowing eyes, but after watching she’d noticed they were people too. The Yaeli even stopped the weird glowy thing after a while. She wasn’t sure what caused it as she’d never gotten up the courage to ask.

Thea shifted a little, her braid still being wrapped around her finger playfully, and watched a small cluster of Belrean’s go by. A long time ago she’d have avoided them, if only because they were new and unknown but as she observed them go about their business she smiled. They dressed funny sometimes but they liked to shop just like everyone else. Moving her gaze along she caught sight of someone selling a paper. As they held it high above their head and shouted something or another she noticed the drawing on the front. It depicted the new race that had been discovered, well.. One of them. A place called Kahikina or some such. It didn’t directly impact her since she was still too young to adventure on her own, but it gave her an option of where to go when she could.

She’d be lieing if she said she didn’t think the person they drew looked weird. Matorians she was used to. They had those fin ears and whatnot but the people on the new land looked way more fish like. The idea didn’t scare her but it did made her wonder if they had scales or gills. Could they breathe under water like a real fish?

Her feet started to sway as she leaned more heavily onto her hand that held the fence. Theanduri turned her head to look around again. Crowd watching was always fun to do when she couldn’t find one of her siblings or the one in particular was too busy to spend time with her. And as much as she liked being at home she didn’t want to help her mother with the chores. Finally she let go of her braid and shoved it back over her shoulder so that it wasn’t in the way then hopped down off the fence. She landed easily and looked around before moving off to her right. She wanted a closer look at that paper. Maybe she could read something it said and then go ask her brother about it. He was always in the city and when he did his deliveries he heard all kinds of gossip. If she was lucky he might had heard more about this new land and it’s people. He might even be able to tell her about the other races.
