The new gift is SPECTRUM
, the power over light, vision, and color.

Quote:
Those gifted with Spectrum are granted abilities pertaining to vision and light. They can dispels shadows, brighten the darkness, and alter the appearance of physical objects by distorting the light around them. Nothing is hidden from a Spectrum user, as their sight is aided by magic.

Many might consider spectrums flighty, but what they truly hate is monotony. A new adventure everyday keeps a spectrum user happy. Spectrums are often artistic, imbued with an innate desire to create and a preference for visual mediums. Some spectrum users are chaotic and disorganized, but never mind that, they can always find whatever it is they're looking for.

prompt response:

Eliam opened his eyes. Why had they been closed? Where had he been? Blinking a few times, he tried to acclimatize to the light, or lack there of. Where ever he was it was dark. He shook his head, trying to remember. No sense of panic engulfed him, this wasn't the first time he'd come to somewhere and wasn't exactly sure where that somewhere was. It usually just meant an adventure was in store. And Eliam loved adventures.

Now used to the light, he looked around. He was laying in a pile of ... something. Odd bits and bobs. Certainly not things made by Noulicorns. There were discarded other artifacts. Curious! He couldn't help but quickly nose through them. Scraps of mouldering paper, rusted metal bits, and some sort of glass container. Interesting, but not revolutionary. That did, however, give Eliam and excellent idea as to where he was. Where else on the known face of Vykeli could one bed down in artifacts from the others but the Ruins? He stood, stretching, and then shaking of a few bits of debris. He must have come to the Ruins looking for something for a project. He was working on an elaborate sun catcher back in Homewood, and required many materials for it. In particular things that caught the sun just right. Homewood would only provide so many of those things. It certainly made sense for him to be here.

He surveyed his surroundings with even more care. A very solid metal door stood on the wall opposite to his little scrap bed. Eliam trotted towards it, curious about what he would find in the hall outside. He pushed against it, but it wouldn't budge. His brown wrinkled. Clearly he'd made it in here, and he was quite sure it was through that door. He pushed again, and still nothing. "Huh..." There was no sense in trying to kick the thing down, it was clearly solid metal and in quite good condition. Water must not have managed to seep into this chamber. He cast his gaze around the rest of the room. It wasn't very large, but it was packed to the brim with things.

Big things, small things, dull things, colourful things, things of every description. As long as that description was of discarded other artifacts. But there was not another door. The ceiling towered far above, but it too was solid. "Hmm..." Eliam returned his eyes to the door, sure it must hold the answer. He inspected is carefully, inch by inch. But truly, it was just a solid hunk of metal. Even the hinges were inaccessible, clearly on the other side.

He pursed his lips, and scanned the wall above the door. "Ah..." Far above him was a little hole. Eliam had spent much time in the Ruins. He knew what little holes like that did. They could be used to open doors, if you could find just the right item to do so.

His ears perked. Now, this sounded like a puzzle! A challenge! An adventure! Now there was another reason to look through all the clutter. To weed the trash from the treasure! He could find the item that he could wedge into that hole, and possibly some useful glimmery things for his suncatcher as well! It was a shame this place was so dark ... He didn't want to miss something beautiful in the rubble. Ah well, it couldn't be helped. Best to make the best of the situation at hand. He glanced back at the key hole. It was certainly quite high on the wall. But, this room was filled with so many things he could surely just heap them up to each it. That would be the least of the challenges!

Feeling quite motivated, he turned to the nearest pile of discarded items. Long wooden things stuck out at crazy angles, bits of metal twisted and various plastic things glinted in the nearly non existent light. He poked at the pile with a hoof, trying to catalouge each item in turn. One always had to keep an eye for things that could be useful for future projects! While he was working on his sun catcher at the moment, that didn't mean he didn't have several other ideas planned ... He pulled out and set aside an interesting piece of iridescent material. It was dusty, but that hardly disguised it's interesting shifting hues. "Mmhmm." This one piece might have been worth the trip alone! Nothing like this existed in Homewood! Eliam imagined how gorgeous it would look bathed in gentle light, filtering through the trees.

He slowly picked his way through the debris, occasionally pulling aside a particularly interesting item. Eliam spent several hours, sifting through the clutter. His focus was nearly unwavering. There were just so many interesting objects! So many things with so many potential uses ... In fact, he'd dreamed up several new projects during his search. Suddenly he came upon a curious metal object. He used his hoof to carefully remove it from the pile. It was a deep golden colour, and in surprisingly good shape. Was this the key he was looking for?

Eliam quickly began pushing debris together into a large pile. He had to get up to that key hole some how! With some sweat and effort, he amassed quite a tower. He seized the key between his teeth, and climbed his trash pile, carefully. It shifted a little under his feet, but he rode it out. He made it to the pinnacle and was able to stretch up just far enough to get the key in. It made a metallic clicking noise, and suddenly the door swung open. "Mmmhmm." He clambered down his pile, and glanced through the door. A relatively barren hallway. He quickly collected some of the treasures he'd found, stuffing them into a pack that was strapped across him, taking special care of the strange iridescent material. He then set off out the door. Onward, to another adventure.

What do you do?

prompt response:The sun shone abnormal bright for how early it was in Vykeli but that did not seem to bother Gama Roy at all he loved the light. It always made him smile, the sun the cloud, blue sky or the green grass. Shacking his head he tried to stay focused after all her was heading in to the barrens. "That's right its was that time for me." He thought happily with a big goofy grin and he skipped along.

Just as he was leaving the Homewood, Gama notice a pretty little white butterfly and was momentarily mesmerized but the simplicity and beauty. "Hello." he said the cute flying bug as it landed on his nose. He watched it cross eyed for a minute before it took flight again. "Bye." he called to it then started skipping through the barrens following the path the many had taken before him.

As the Great Grandfather Tree came into view, Gama stopped in awe of the wonderful master piece before him. The tall white base of the tree set on a hill and was all of six nouls length across. The massive trunk reaches even higher then any tree in the Homewood he had ever seen. The branches stretcher across the horizon in all directions. But what really took his breath away was the way the suns light danced through the branches casting shows and making shapes only a true art lover could see and appreciate. He was left speechless by the beautiful set before him.

Shacking his head he approached the Great Tree. He felt small, of course he is small, but he really really felt it deep in his being. Taking a deep breath he let his bowed head be the indication of readiness. He was just to amazed to speak.

Sparks and twinkles spot Gama's vision and flash of light blinds him totally. Slowly his vision comes back to him and he finds himself in a forest. Smelling the air he can tell this in not the Homewood. Standing in a path his tries to get his bearings but the forest is just to unfamiliar.

Sticking his nose back into the air he can smell something not so unfamiliar and even more bad. As if to answer his already worried mind and howl erupts and echoes for predator to predator telling him he is be hunted. Heart racing and adrenaline shots like a falling edge diving for his meal. At this point he can thing of nothing else but to run as fast as his noul legs will carry him.

His legs move before his mind can even process the idea of running. Trees zipped by in a dark blur, he is not even sure where is going or how he is going to get away. His one saving grace was that the predators had think tangling trees between him and them which was making it hard for them to get to him...for now. "What am i going to do?" his brain thought finally catching up with his hoofs. He needed to think of something fast and before the trees gave way enough for this things to get to him.

As if to answer his need a bright light ahead of him can be seen. This was either a good thing or a bad thing but he had little choice really. His legs set forward and pick up speed, if such a thing was possible. Has he moved he thought "It is an all or nothing move. What an adventure." A big almost crazed smile set on his muzzle as he bent forward so he could speed up more. The predators let out an angered howl of frustration. "That's right boys catch me if you can." he yelled at them with a wild laugh. As he reached the light a wolf like figure lunge into view just as the ground disappeared for under him.

Blinded by the sudden brightness Gama felt the sensation of falling. What he was going to hit he had no idea. All he knew was he had make it away form the howling; he had excepted. As he plummeted down he yell "YYYYYAAAAAHHHHOOOOOOOO!!!" This was one heck of a ride.

His eye cleared and he was once again standing in front of the Grandfather Tree. He heart was racing still form the vision. It had felt so real but is was nothing more then a dream really. As he looked up into the branches of the Great Tree all he could say was "WOW!"

prompt response:

You awaken in an area of complete darkness. The smells are strange and unfamiliar and the only sound is softly dripping water. As you stand, you realize there are stones closing in all around you. You’re in a maze and you need to find your way free while effectively blind.
What do you do?

Head pounding Brendin slowly opened his eyes and tried to look around him. He was stunned to see absolutely nothing. He was engulfed in complete darkness.

Panicking a little his mind began to race and fear set in. Gulping in air he frantically tried to look in all directions only to be met with blackness.

He knew he needed to calm himself and think. Slowing his breathing down he began to count as he took breaths, holding each one a few seconds longer than the last. When he counted to 30 he realized he was breathing normally.

Sighing in relief he tried to remember where he had been before he awoke in this place. His memories were slowly returning.

He remembered he was walking near the edge of the woods when a small animal ran past him. Not really seeing what it was his curiosity got the best of him and he trotted off after it. He had nothing planned for this glorious day. His decision was one of "Why not? I have nothing planned and maybe this can be an adventure!

The animal veered off to take a dirt path that was obscured by the trees and bushes. To be honest it looked eerie but his nosey self wanted to know what the animal was doing so he followed closely behind.

He only traveled about 30 feet along the path when suddenly he heard a weird noise, like ground crumbling and wood creaking. He looked around and saw nothing as he took a step and down he went. He hit the ground full force his belly felt like it fell on rocks. He panted for a few seconds and struggled to stand up when he heard the noise again and he looked over. In doing so he saw the side of the trail was falling apart and if he did not move he would go over. Fear slowed him down as he was not fully to his feet and his momentum took him over and down. He was sliding on his stomach towards the unknown, he frantically looked around for something to grab onto but nothing was near enough. The trees were to far out and he was getting the feeling of dread in the pit of his stomach.

The brightness of the day suddenly disappeared and he was encased in total darkness. Then he came to a very sudden stop and he passed out.

Realizing how he came to be in this place he now had to find a way out. He had no choice but to rely on his senses all but sight. He strained his ears and heard water, it sounded far off and very slow like a slow drip. Then he used his sense of smell and was immediately bombarded with an awful smell that resembled decomposition, like plants for compost. It was not pleasant at all.

Reaching out he used one leg to feel around him and got to his feet slowly. He could make out stones all around him, some were larger than others. Their colors varied as well. As he moved closer he noticed some of the stones had markings while others did not.

As he studied the rocks he turned in a clockwise direction taking in all the different markings and sizes of the stones. In between a few of the stones he saw something moving and realized it was water.

"If water can get in between the cracks then there must be a way out!" he muttered to himself. Realizing if he followed the rocks in the direction the water flowed he may find a way out. He slowly searched the rocks for a pattern in the water and after taking a bit of time realized it was flowing from left to right which meant he had to go to the left. He was taking a chance of walking into a rather wet escape but it was the only chance he had.

Mindful of the direction he went, the turns he took he slowly followed the rocks and water until it began to become more apparent in between the rocks. Wherever the water was flowing from had to be near. His attention was focused on finding the source of the water so he could leave this place.

It seemed the markings were on these rocks as well although they were different in size, shape and color. He puzzled over that but kept going. Time seemed to stand still as he moved along the narrow cramped path. The dirt was wet is some places and dry in others. His hooves were dirty and he hated the feeling of wet dirt in them. He tried to shake it off but gave up and kept to the task at hand. He wanted out and he wanted out now!

His ears began to twitch as he hears a swooshing sound. He stopped and listened more closely. He heard the movement of water and it sounded close, real close.

Gleeful he started to move faster but he was not mindful of where he was walking. He stepped into a giant puddle of water and he fell. Before he could get up he started to spin. He was astounded at first his eyes closed but as suddenly as it began it was over.

Opening his eyes he realized he stood near a beautiful older tree. Looking closer he realized he was at the Grandfather Tree, the most revered tree in the land.

He now wondered if this was somehow connected. Was him figuring out the markings, how and where the water flowed, and using his senses a test?
