Dusk Warrior had left the herd that he knew and loved to start over with Dawn Stunner. It was different and also difficult but they were going to do it and prove to both of their herds that they were strong. Part of him though back to his family however. Their feuds although sometimes justifiable could have been met with agreeance. Alas, that was in the past now and his time was the future. A future to think about him, his mate, and possible future offspring. He hoped maybe some of them would follow even if it was later, they already knew that the pair would be in the Bluestone Mountains so it wasn't going to be difficult to really find them. Plus right now they were near the base of the mountain, easier to live for now and then they could continue to go up higher. He knew they were strong and he knew they could handle it.
The quiet of the night was so peaceful. The way the full moon lit up the ridges, trees, and clearings, it was a sight. This was something he could get used to and he wondered how the changing of seasons would affect the rest of the mountains. He knew the harder life would be in the tundra and sometimes they would need to go there. Though colder and harsher, there was some good that could come from a place like that. Training would be a good one. There was plenty of good grazing all around outside the tundra. Plenty of places to make homes. Caves they could use to hide from the weather. The only thing to really worry about were other predators. Landing a good hit would deter them and getting more traction with numbers too but for now... they would need to watch their backs.
Dusk Warrior began to walk through the few trees around, still surveying where they were now in relation to where they had been. Carefully memorizing the place. Nightly reconnaissance was his go to for exploring as things at night were more twisted and warped than during the daytime, plus easier to get lost at night. Good thing he had a pretty good memory, mostly of landscapes and other useless information. It helped him before, it would help now. He slowed as he heard running water. The sound causing him to tap his hooves on the ground. A water source, perfect. It didn't seem huge but enough for them. Did he also spy an outcropping? Why yes, yes he did. Shelter. Exactly what he and Dawn Stunner would need. Better than sleeping out in the open as they had been, Exposed to everything and always needing to be more and more alert. Here he felt that he could relax some. The outcropping even gave them protection on the side. It wasn't completely closed off like a cave or den, but it wasn't completely open either.
Come morning he would find this place again and bring his mate here. For now this was enough exploring of the area. Locking the location down, he headed back home for the rest of the night.
