The years had been good to the relationship between the Earthings, Aishians, and the Kahikinans. Moani always made sure They were up to date on the happenings between the races and so far there only seemed to be good things. They still hadn’t been allowed anywhere near the other races thanks to their parents, but they were much older now. Soon their mother wouldn’t be able to stop them from going off of their own. They were even looking forward to seeing this so-called magic that they had heard about. Other’s spoke about it with wonder in their eyes and how anyone could learn this magic.
Moani had wanted to follow in their mother’s footsteps and become a midwife but now that their world had expanded... Moani wasn’t so sure anymore. As a midwife they would have to stay here and they couldn’t see the world and everything that it had to offer. They was especially curious about all the treasure and items that the Earthlings brought with them. There was mention of flying things that was similar to how the Kahikinans floated in water but for them it was in the air. This stuff was crazy!
Another thing that seemed to have left an impression was the fact that a lot of them were used to fighting. Moani had heard snippets about some of the wars that had been fought and it was a little dizzying to think about it all. The Kahikinans weren’t exactly war mongers but some of these Earthlings certainly seemed like they had been. It was a scary thought, but that wouldn’t deter them. There were also mentions of plenty of their people that also didn’t fight, that practised some kind of trade or just did not fight. Maoni wasn’t exactly sure yet what kind of work they'd want to do but it would be something that didn’t keep them here.
What was obvious to Moani was that there wasn’t really anything that fit what they wanted to do here. However, the Earthlings and Aishians had mentioned some treasure hunters which sounded interesting. They would be able to travel all over the world seeking out these so called treasures! And who knew, maybe they’d even uncover some under the sea as well! The possibilities were endless. Moani didn’t dare speak of their plans to anyone however, they was sure their family would not approve of such a thing.
Moani did wonder however if they would also be able to use magic. It seemed like many were able to learn it and they had heard that some Kahikinans had begun learning it as well. What if they wanted to dabble in this kind of thing? Moani spent a lot of time staring at their hands, wondering if they would be able to learn it at all. One of their sister’s had been able to use magic, but they'd been the only one able to in the family. Moani remembered the day they'ddiscovered the ability. Everyone was amazed at it all.
And if they couldn’t, it wouldn’t be the end of the world after all. Moani already knew magic wasn’t their thing to begin with. Nor was battling, so all those battle classes held little to no interest for them. They wasn’t at all the fighter type and held no desire to even learn such things. Still, perhaps it would become a necessity if in the future they did come across anyone who was hostile. Moani still felt there was no reason for any encounter to result in violence... But perhaps that was their inexperience speaking.
All that was left to do was figure out how they were going to pull this off. They’d been hoping to be able to trade a few small commodities for some pieces of clothing so they’d blend in a bit better with the other land walkers. Not too much of course, Moani did love the Kahikinan style, and they truly did want to keep some of that with them. However, perhaps some clothing or even plants would make them blend in. They weren’t sure yet, they couldn’t be until they'd at least seen what the other land walkers wore. Maybe if they matched that style but with their own colors it would be better.
If Moani blended in better perhaps they could get an apprenticeship with a land walker even. At least then they’d be able to learn from them and it wouldn't be a struggle. Moani made up their mind, they would find a land walker who could help them fit a land walker class.
