Still smarting after the disastrous meeting with that group of does he wandered off towards wherever. He had no particular destination in mind, he was to far in his feelings to even pay attention to where his legs were taking him.
He had at least made a friend earlier, that young buck just seemed to come out of nowhere and found him in a very uncomfortable position. He later found out that the buck had a name and it was Fiontan. He was very understanding and talked to him as if he actually mattered. Which was odd to him. He knew his worth why didn't those does?
Tried as he did Fiontan just made him angrier and embarrassed although he pretended to feel better so he would wander off and leave him be. Now as time has passed he began to long for the company.
His mind was racing, the thoughts were all over the place. He tried to focus on one thought at a time but he was unsuccessful. He felt depleted and quite frankly unwanted. His steps slowed and he began to just shut down.
Struggling to place one hoof in front of the other, his head down and slowly plodding along with the despair he was feeling began to grow. Try as he may nothing seemed to calm him.
To him time held no meaning, all he knew was to keep moving hoping it would help him calm himself enough to relax.
He heard a breeze ruffle the leaves on the trees around him, the bushes that lined the road he was on seemed to sing to him. He heard the sounds of various animals around him but he could not see any. The air had changed, it felt almost reverent.
He kept walking in the direction he was headed the area got more and more desolate. The woods seemed to dwindle as did the lovely bushes, no more animal sounds. He felt bereft but something felt right about heading towards whatever was pulling him. Yes, he suddenly realized that he felt a "pull" to go in this particular direction. Why? He had no clue until he realized where he was.
He was in the desolate wasteland and the Grandfather Tree was beckoning him to enter and give homage. He knew to disobey was foolish and extremely rude so he continued on towards his destination.
Climbing up a small incline, he suddenly sees what he had come for. There in the middle of the plateau was the Grandfather Tree. Standing tall, proud, and magnificent among the barren lands that surrounded it.
Stopping in front of the tree he whispered " I have heard the call I am here. What do you wish of me?" with that he waited.
