Sylvite remembered when energy draining had been the biggest, most exciting thing about being in the Negaverse. She'd had to take chunks out of her weekend and scout places out and think of all these interesting excuses to make about why she was bumping into people all the time. Looking back, it had been good training. She was using all those skills now with her case reports and investigations.

She still had her quota, but now that she had all her Captain tricks up her sleeve, the draining itself was a little bit boring. She had to switch up her locations, 'cause she didn't wanna attract too much attention, but usually she could park herself somewhere and get bits and pieces from anyone who got close enough. It was usually all done in like and hour, sometimes less.

Today she was curled up on a bench at a bus stop pretending to be distracted by her phone. It was going okay. She'd gotten herself a really fat ball of energy in less than forty minutes, but again, it wasn't the most exciting.

It was getting late enough that the bus stop was getting empty. Sylvite yawned and rolled the orb she'd gathered from palm to palm.

She perked up when she felt an Order aura flickering around somewhere nearby. Okay, that was interesting. Dangerous, maybe, especially since she wasn't on an Information mission and didn't have any bargaining chips on her, but interesting. Her curiosity won out in the end. It had been awhile since she'd actually run into any enemies, and her precious database was still looking pretty empty. She put the orb away, but she stayed right where she was, waiting.

The night was nice, compared to how it had been in a long time. Sumner couldn't wait for the weather to get warmer to finally go out and swim and be in the sun and just enjoy nature rather than wanting to stay away from it like in the colder months. And even if Spring meant allergies for most, it was still his second favorite time of year. One that made him more hopeful for the coming year and that maybe it would be better than the last.

He chuckled to himself as he walked "his" patrol route. The idea of years actually becoming better rather than worse seemed to be a distant dream at this point. But he couldn't focus on the negative. If he did, he knew that eventually it would eat away at him and it would be even worse. He could only take it day-by-day and try to make the best of each one.

Which is why he had been out patrolling tonight. And why he hesitated when he felt the aura of Chaos. It had made him stop to try to feel out the enemy, if at all possible. He was still getting used to all of it. It didn't feel like a General, but it was still more powerful compared to himself. And he was still too inexperienced at fighting.

He thought about turning back, but decided to at least check it out. In his head he made sure to make a plan of escape in case he needed it. After all, with one infused with "chaos" itself, the enemy would be quite unpredictable, and he would need to make sure that he could leave if he needed to. So when he saw the... well he was pretty sure they were an Agent. They looked pretty bored right now, he wondered if they would even be a problem. Still, he felt like he should at least get them out of the area if he could, and he faked a cough into his hand and said, "You seem to be done here. Why don't you move along." He said in as authoritative Lifeguard-manner as he could muster.

As the aura got closer and closer and Sylvite saw the guy who had to be the source of it just walking down the sidewalk towards her, she realized that this wasn't just any enemy. This was a knight. Extra gross. She'd been about to smile at him anyway and say hi, but before she could open her mouth he was already telling her to leave in a weird teacher voice, and he wasn't even trying to be nice about it.

He didn't get a smile after all. She just squinted at him for a second. I could just stab him, she thought. Now that would be kinda fun! He'd stop being annoying, and his starseed would be a sparkly, sparkly prize. Of course, there was a chance he'd be more valuable alive, and it was kinda her job to figure that out. Sylvite sighed, but the knives did not come out. Yet.

"Um, no," she said instead, crossing her arms. "You're not my commanding officer, and I'm not, like, doing anything bad. Can we try this again? Maybe with, y'know, a hello? Like-" She took a little breath and tried to relax her shoulders. She could be the bigger person and give him one more chance. She still wasn't quite chipper, but she gave a little wave and she said, "Hi there!"

Sumner could feel himself giving the other a lift of an eyebrow and probably a bit of a grimace. He wasn't sure how to respond to such a greeting, other than thinking that perhaps the woman was crazy. He didn't know if he should respond and answer to the crazy or just try to get out of here. He decided to go with "Uh... hi...". Though he made sure to keep an eye around the area in case something was going on. He didn't sense anyone else who was Chaos, but he certainly wasn't going to get closer to this lady!

"Well it's not like I came here to fight either." And with that level of power I'm outmatched. He thought the last part to himself, trying to diffuse the situation, but when someone was out of their mind, he was pretty sure that they couldn't be reasoned with. "If you're not doing anything bad, I would suggest leaving the area before someone who is more powerful than me comes along and tries to move you by force." He said, trying to advise the woman.

Sylvite gave a teeny, tiny nod when he said hi. She really wasn't feeling like he meant it, but at least he wasn't like, defiant to the point of being stupid the way some people were.

"I don't wanna fight either," she said. "I mean, I don't like getting bossed around, but yeah. We don't have to go there." She arched her back in a casual stretch, but when she glanced back over to him her eyes were cold. She still wasn't against the idea of stabbing him. He was talking about stronger people showing up. Was that a threat? Did he have friends hanging out around here somewhere, or was he just trying to get her off her game? There weren't any auras other than his, which was right in her face, but that didn't always mean anything.

She'd been ambushed before.

Trying to keep her cool, she said, "It is getting late. I guess I could go home, but, uh, can I ask you something first?" She tilted her head and finally gave a little smile. "It's why I was waiting for you. I was curious about something."

He felt a shiver make it's way down his spine. He really did not want to be in this situation. Why had he felt like confronting the Agent who was so obviously more powerful than he was? Was it a sense of duty? Was it because he figured he would be attacked if he tried to flee and wanted to know who was giving off the aura?

The question would probably remain unanswered forever, but he couldn't help but heave out a sigh. "Look, if it's some question leading into me being stabbed or something, I'd rather just get into trying to run away from you or whatever." He wasn't sure what the "whatever" would be, but it would probably involve trying to defend himself if possible.

"If it's a real question though, like "why am I on the Order" side or something then that's different." He wanted to say that he didn't want to play any mindgames or anything like that, but he was sure if he said it that the Agent would be more than happy to take advantage of that.

Sylvite almost felt bad about the way he was looking at her all scared. Almost. He'd been the one who'd been trying to order her around just a little bit ago, and if it was taking being threatening to keep him kind of nice, she was okay with that.

She had to be careful, though. She didn't want to scare him off just yet. "Okay," she said, holding up her knife-free hands and wiggling her fingers. "No stabbing. I promise." There were other things she could go for if he decided to push the issue of her leaving her bench, but he was being cooperative enough now that the urge to stab him was being replaced by the urge to see what he had to way.

She adjusted so that she was sitting cross-legged, a little more relaxed with her hands in her lap. "I wanna know about knights, actually," she said. "You're a knight, right? I used to think you guys were so cool back before the Negaverse got to me, but they don't like tell us too much about you, and there's not really Negaverse knights the way there are Negaverse senshi." It wasn't a lie, even if she was leaving out a couple details, and the curiosity was very real. "Do you have, like, magic?"

Sumner took a good look at her wiggling fingers, and while he could see that there were no knives currently in them, he would still have to be on his guard. He thought he remembered seeing that General get a weapon out of thin air...

He couldn't help but looked surprised at her question. "Well, yeah, I'm a Knight, but I'm only a Page so I'm not quite up to the title of Knight yet, but that is my faction." He didn't know that there weren't Negaverse Knights. He wondered why there was such a difference. Perhaps it was because the Agents were the main soldiers and any Senshi, he was sure that they would have them, were more than likely less? He wasn't sure, he was still new to all of this.

"Me in particular? No, not yet. But usually once we get to be a Squire we finally get access to it." He often wondered what type of magic he would have, but that would have to wait until he... earned it? He wasn't sure how he would get to the next stage. No one really told him how he could do that.

He wasn't surprised at the curiosity of the Agent though. He often had questions about the other side himself and often wondered if he would be able to ask them.

Sylvite did some quick mental math. Okay, if there was Page and Knight, that would leave Squire in the middle like Captain. She'd noticed that knights had the same ranks as everyone else but she didn't think she'd ever had it spelled out like that before.

See, this was going pretty well already. It was probably good she hadn't stabbed him. She smiled, for real this time.

"Yeah, that makes sense, I guess. We just start out with kinda silly, fake weapons that don't do anything while we train, too." That was pretty common knowledge but hopefully it would feel like she was giving something back. Her eyes went even wider, really curious now.

"Do you think you'll get anything fun? I heard you guys are connected to planets or princesses or something for your powers? Do you have one of those? That sounds really interesting. Definitely way cooler than anything we have."

That was the first real lie. The planets might be okay if they hadn't been destroyed, but nothing could hold a candle to the Negaverse's crystal castle or their beautiful, deadly Queen.

Sumner was about to commiserate about the "non-weapon" at the first stage, but remembered that she was an enemy and while he had told her some information, he didn't want to tell her everything. It was best to keep it to himself.

At her next question he shrugged. "I don't know, I heard it's different with every person and well, I haven't unlocked mine at this point, but I am curious about it." He did wonder. Would it be helpful? Defensive? Offensive? Though he thought he remembered being told that their magic usually wasn't offensive. He kind of wondered what the point of it was then and how helpful it could actually be if one couldn't hurt the enemy.

He was pretty sure that some of them could change their minds, but there was still true evil in the world after all. Unless someone switched out their brain completely, such as through amnesia, then he felt that they should have some way to truly stop the enemy.

"Err, I think so. But if we are I haven't ever seen mine." He wondered if they were even truly alive still. He had never heard of his, he was pretty sure it was a Princess, hadn't even been seen by any of the Neptune Knights that he had talked to. Granted, that was only one Knight, but it didn't sound all that common to be able to see them. He truly didn't know if they were even a thing or if Neptune had just been restored so much that it could sustain Wonders on it at this point.

"I haven't been able to check it out yet since I'm so new. I'm sure whatever you have is impressive though." He wasn't lying. Unless they were all living in thatch huts or something, then they probably had their own buildings and artistic architecture. After all, there were plenty of times in literature and movies that a person could be wowed by the villain's lair.

The more she talked to this guy, the more she realized that he was just, like, new. He didn't have magic, and not only did he probably not know any deep knight secrets, it seemed like he was still learning the basic histories and stuff too. It was still kind of interesting to see what he thought about stuff, though, and what people ended up learning first.

Even though she'd known for a long time that knights were dirty liars, she there was still a twinge of disappointment when he hesitated talking about the princesses. "So, no princesses, really?" Her shoulders drooped a little. "That sucks. They always seemed kinda cool." Even after she'd joined the Negaverse, she'd liked the idea of them, but it looked like they were just another story.

She'd take the General-Sovereigns with and offices she could walk to any day, and of course she'd always serve her Queen. "Yeah. My General-King, my boss, he's pretty nice. He's always making us cookies and stuff," she said. She didn't try as hard to get knights to like the Negaverse as, like, senshi, but she felt like everyone deserved to know about the cookies.

She stretched again, pointing her toes out this time. "I guess that's all the knight questions I had," she said with a slightly bigger smile. Then she blinked and shook her head. "Oh, I almost forgot. What's your name?" That was kinda the most important thing.

Sumner wasn't sure how the Agent had gotten the idea that there were no Princesses when he just said he hasn't seen any. "Uh well, that's not what I said but I guess you can think that." He just didn't know anything about them other than they were the most powerful and either always stayed on their planets or had decided to just up and disappear into Space somewhere.

"That's... nice." He said, hesitation in his voice, only able to think of the Darth Vader meme with joining the dark side because they had cookies. He wondered if she was telling the truth though. He very much wondered if she had a lot of interaction with her "General-King". Probably more than the negligent Princesses but she made it sound like she talked to him all the time which he doubted. Or else she was just one of his favorites, who knew.

He jumped a bit when she asked for his name though. Again, it was a decision as to whether or not he should give it. Was a name something that could really get him trouble? Make him a huge target? Or was it just so she knew what he was called before she went and killed him? Would he be able to get out of this situation alive if he didn't give it to her? "Sumner." He said, wincing as he said it and wondering if he had immediately f**ked up and now was the moment that he was going to be killed. He took a step back, though wondered if he was at all safe no matter how far he got. "I'd ask for yours but I doubt you'd want to give it." If he did make it out of this alive, he would have to make sure that the next time he saw her or any other agent, that he would be ready to fight, and perhaps more powerful too.

So maybe there were Princesses, then? It would make sense if there were some around, since she'd heard about them multiple times, but it didn't seem like they were being great support systems to the knight now the way it had seemed like they used to be.

She just kinda blinked at him, though, trying to look a little blank. Let him think that she wasn't understanding him. That was fine.

He was getting all jumpy now and giving her one word answers. Someone a while back had told her that fear worked better than charm and friendliness for getting what you wanted out of people, and she'd been trying it a little bit since then, leaning into her power and even flashing her knives around sometimes. She didn't think it was working. Sometimes, she even missed being a lieutenant since then people would usually talk to her.

She'd gotten what she needed for tonight, though. "Nice to meet you, Sumner," she said, smiling a little. "And it's okay. You can ask. It's only fair, right? I'm Sylvite." There were some questions she wouldn't answer, obviously, but her name was pretty common knowledge at this point.

Then, after another stretch, she hopped off the precious bench and stepped away. "Well. I guess it is getting late," she said.

"R-right it is." Shoot why was he so nervous? Probably the fact that this Agent could teleport and he had no idea how to fight. Still, he had been in different life or death situations, so why was this one so nerve-wracking?

Maybe trying to fight the water in a punch contest would be easier than this.

"Okay Sylvite." He said, making sure to remember her name and appearance. Though, if she were not at the highest stage that Agents could achieve, he was sure that the next time they met that even if he were a Squire at that point, she would still be more powerful than him.

If there was a next time and she didn't just plan to teleport behind him and stab him in the back that is.

Still, it was one of the many reasons he needed more training and to become stronger himself. Even if he weren't a Squire, being able to survive a fight would be better than nothing. "I'll just be... going now." He said, taking a few steps away from here, still expecting that dagger in his back. Or his front. Maybe at his neck.

There were no knives anywhere near Sumner. He'd cooperated, and Sylvite had promised not to stab him. She wasn't gonna break her word. She wasn't like that.

She did smile a little bit seeing how scared he was looking as he walked away, though. He'd been all talk, huh? He didn't seem like too much of a threat, and if he ever started to become one, she could deal with that, then.

Part of her wanted to stay at the bus stop, just to prove that she could, but she'd made her deals about that, too, so as he started to walk away she went in the other direction.

When he said goodbye, she called back, "Bye, Sumner," waving big, and then she kept going until she'd vanished into the shadows.
