User Image What Oleander thought was going to be a nice day, sure the sky was over cast with clouds. It just didn't seem like they type that would open up and just pour down on his parade. The perlino buck stood under one of the worse trees as the rain soaked into the ground around him. His mane clung to his neck like creeper vines to a tree. Tail dropping behind him into the mud that gathered around. Well this dampened Oleander's mood of sorts.

"So much for going to find another book." He muttered a little frustratedly.

As it was, the satchel that hung around his neck drooped from the soaking rain, whatever he had inside was also very wet. Shaking his head, tussled mane going in all directions, but the right one. Grey eyes gazed up at the even grayer clouds through the sparce cover he stood under. It was only with a crack of accompanying thunder did the buck hot hoof it to one of the outlying buildings.

"OK, ok, indoors I will go." He called out as sheet lightening flashed across the clouds like snakes. "Didn't really want to stay outside anyways. All the good things are in here." A grin replaced his sour expression as he shook most the rain water off his coat.

A tremor of a shiver rolled through his spine as the cold of the wet set in. It would work itself out sooner or later. He just had to keep moving and he would soon dry off and warm up again. He could only hope that the rain will stop soon and the sun will shine again.

So many memories yet time moved gracefully slow otherwise. Days in Homewood were agreed to move rapidly in Tsarine's eyes leading his thoughts to the rescue of a certain bucket. This topic per say wasn't usually upon the tip of his tongue because it would sound foolish. Those seeking fame and fortune tended to bypass the elder's warnings much like he had. For punishment the young noulicorn refused to leave his sanctuary for it was his home. Now, stepping out of Homewood where he made his dwelling he noted the rain was beginning to fall downward like he remembered in the ruins. The rain never bothered him for it brought life to an otherwise desolate deceased civilization. The sanctuary was cradled with minimal holes yet one large enough allowed sunlight to warm his sullen coat. Now, he pranced in the beginning rain like a youngling feeling the coolness soak inward like a much needed bath.

"My, you are in an interesting mood today" replied Ayala scurrying up beside him. Noting he carried essentials her mind finally put two in two together.

"Feels wonderful doesn't it?" he sang allowed just simply enjoying the coolness the Barrens would of stolen for itself.

"Some what" she spoke as she crawled up onto his back always. Coldness in a sense wasn't truly her forte over a decent sunning in the Barrens.

"I'm sure you don't have to ask where I'm going, huh Ayala?" Now his own strongly built head faced the location toward the ruins. Knowing full well his beloved bucket was merely in plain sight. If any noulicorn found it ... He couldn't bear the thought it would be gone forever. Not many of his kind kept relics, though there were a few. Determined he headed off even if Ayala protested. He'd remembered to bring bags and such for this adventure to retrieve what he could.

By the time they reached the entrance Tsarine was thoroughly soaked. His immature nature finally caught up with them leading to cascades of spring rain. Trotting toward the ruins he knew he upset Ayala because she wasn't speaking. Somehow she had wrapped his mane around her slender form to ward off the never-ending down pour. Slowly, he walked in the ruins shaking his coat from front to back carefully not dislodging his cargo.

"Ayala were here" he spoke with excitement, "I can finally retrieve my bucket from these ruins for good".

"Yes Tsarine..." her voice sounded agitated but otherwise fine.

"Ayala?..." he asked concerned as he headed inward hearing another voice. Turning his attention to the other newcomer he listened closely to where they were. Friend? Foe? Whomever it was he would be polite and not speak of his bucket. Truth be told he wasn't exactly sure where he had dropped it in the first place. Only knowledge he knew was his sanctuary was somewhere buried in the ruins.

User Image "I will have to wait this rain out if I am going to get any good books out of here." Oleander said as he looked out one of the few windows, ears flicking to the sides of his head. "Oh well, maybe the hunt of some shiny things will make the day go faster."

Turning around the perlino buck turned away from the window and headed to another side of the building. Grey eyes were on the look out for things that would shine, though in this dull lighting and stormy day. Oleander couldn't quite see much and the kicked up dust caused him to sneeze. Shaking his head, he shook off again, his hide still damp and was starting to itch in places. The water whipping of his tail, he lifted his head slightly. He had thought he had heard something. Was there someone there?

"Hello?" Was all that escaped his muzzle as Oleander's voice was almost drowned out by another fierce crack of thunder outside. That storm was really starting to whip itself into a fury. He was surprised the wind her yet to start blowing.

"Oh, there's something interesting.." His attention suddenly changed from the voices in another part of the building to something that was on the floor.

The item was small, barely the size of a small branch. Lowering his head towards the half rusted out soup ladle, Oleander nosed it over before snorting at it. It wasn't that special after all. He had a few of them back at his home and this one was in worse condition then the rest. Raising a hoof he kicked the piece of metal sending it flying into the darkness. There were better things then ladles. At least he was hoping that there was...

Tsarine froze momentarily as he gauged the sound of the other lingering here. He learned only recently nouls actually came and went from the ruins on a daily basis. His sanctuary must of been hidden from the world or it was scavenged of his precious finds. He could only hope his beloved bucket was safe from any interlopers that might confiscate or do something worse. till had had to make up his mind if a response was in order or skip around a meeting by heading to his bucket.

"Tsarine" her voice was questioning, "Are you going to say hello or just let your greeter wonder if you were wind?"

Tsarine longed to grab what he came for but, Ayala had a valid point.

"Someone there?" he queried knowing Ayala had her eye on him.

Lightning cracked hard spooking him a little to move inward. Deciding that it was safer in numbers he sought out the other voice. Walking into a room there stood another noul brighter then Tsarine. Perhaps even taller, more impressive with knowledge. He seemed to be interested on one of those strange things with a handle and a scoop the younger noul ran across many times exploring areas.

Clearing his throat Tsarine spoke to gain attention, "Hello. Are are you the one I heard earlier? I'm Tsarine and this is Ayala; my companion".

This Buck seemed non-threatening so perhaps he needed company within this foreboding place. If anything is this guy needed a guide well Tsarine could assist the best way he could. Tsarine prided in himself after all those years he knew a clear path to the back of the ruins. This particular Buck might just join him in returning to his sanctuary.

User Image Ears twitching slightly, Oleander looked around in the dim lighting of the building before he gazed upon another Noul, seems he wasn't the only one that was caught out in this messy weather. As he looked at this other, he noticed that there was something on his back. Perhaps a familiar of some sort, these questions were shortly answered by the Noul himself. So his name was Tsarine and the Scuttle Scale on his back was Ayala.

"Hi there, I'm Oleander. I might have been, not too many other Nouls out in this weather." he answered looking towards one of the broken windows. "Don't suppose you two are too familiar with this place, are you? As many times I have ventured into these Ruins. There is very little luster left."

It was true that there were still many places that he could explore, but in truth, there seemed to be less and less. It was getting a bit depressing, or it was just the rain that was dragging him down. The weather certainly wasn't one that matched his sunny demeanor. This was more sleepy, stay in the den weather with a warm blanket and a good book... Which he was running out of...

Oleander. Now Tsarine could place a face with a namesake. Perking his ears he noted this Buck was asking for assistance. While Tsarine didn't know the entire layout he agreed he was fortunate to grow up here, Swishing his tail he felt Ayala shift on his back. She usually was listening rather her Buck cared or didn't phase from it. His mind showered him with queries of how to proceed as his only purpose was retrieving his stuff. How would he respond to a offer for help tracking through the open streets and shrouded buildings? Flicking another ear he smelt that familiar must aromatic taste upon his tongue. Within all that endless time it never really bothered him like it was now.

"Actually..." he paused regaining his thoughts, "I grew up here since I was a fawn".

Such a bold statement mirroring the truth for a growing noul. He pondered if Oleander would think him crazy to even remotely dream up such a farce. He had been the reason for his parents' deaths but, his vision quest had released that guilt. Still, walking within these walls gave him a pang of remorse even if he ignored it.

"The reason I'm here is to retrieve my belongings from my sanctuary, especially my... bucket".

Letting his mind wander he began fearing the Cat Beast could of stolen away his lifelong friend. Still, he wasn't giving up on his things even if he had to battle for them. Not everything could come back with him, but Tsarine was hoping Olelander might want to help retrieve what he could bring back to Homewood. Sure there were certain things he'd keep quietly to himself but, there was also plenty of artifacts Olelander might delight in for himself. Tsarine just hoped time hadn't washed away that room like the storm cascading down outside.

the young buck asked the other hoping he was onboard for an adventure. Crumbling buildings were always a danger slipping through tight places.

User Image Oleander couldn't help but tilt his head to one side. The look on his face was one of amazement that this buck had survived this long in the Ruins. There weren't so many that could say the same, not without a loss of limb or other means. Some tragedy that shaped their lives in some means. While he didn't know this younger buck's story, surely one that was heaped with challenges. Oleander himself wasn't one with a glorious life, hardly anyone in Homewood had one. Place was too safe for its own good..

Frowning in his own thoughts, Oleander had forgotten where he was before a crack of thunder outside made him jump. That as most undignified of him, but he wasn't going to show that it was anything else. Perhaps he should have just remained in his home where he could be away from this mess. Shaking his head he glanced back towards the younger Buck.

"Grew up here, huh? Not many that do survive unless they have secret spaces to hide away in. But it seems that is what you had, with this Sanctuary." Oleander nodded as Tsarine spoke on, one thing that made him pause. "You came back for a bucket?"

It wasn't like it was a bad thing, he had seen another doe wander around with one. He had a satchel to carry his things in. While it wasn't the greatest of holding water... It was the worst as everything got soaked. As soaked as things were now and it seemed that the rain was only going to come down harder.

"Lets find your place before this rain gets worse and neither of us can see two hooves in front of our noses." Oleander suggested as he gave another look outside as lightning snaked across the skies again, it was almost as dark as night outside.

Tsarine was miffed when Olelander seemed taken aback that he was returning for a bucket. Honesty, most nouls would probably laugh at the fact he was attached to such a relic. He had to learn that not everyone was receptive learning about one's past. Still, he was asked to lead this expedition forgoing to mention there was a Cat Beast lurking where he first met Russet Fawn and her Jack hop. Scaring the daylights out of an outsider of the ruins wasn't helping anyone on this quest.

"Right..." he commented looking down the rain soaked street in front of him. Seemed like they'd need to travel through the buildings hoping that the rusting structures didn't collapse. A few had come close to landing next to him as he grew that left some scratches.

"I'm going to warn you ahead of time that if you hear anything about to fall above you.... Well its smart to move out of the way. My parents are here buried somewhere..." he trailed off silently taking the lead through some of the closest buildings that were dripping partially from rotting interiors. Moving inward he ducked under a fallen beam then weaved once more into another building. Eyes watching as ears swiveled in alertness, Tsarine made his way back into the ruins he hastily left under attack.

"Ayala. Stay sharp" he murmured heading out into another crumbling road again. An awning protected him from the rain as it poured into the street, "Olelander, what stuff are you seeking?" Granted it was a corny question but, he was curious why this noul wanted to tag along. Tilting his head he squinted into the area before him. Excitement start flowing inward.

He was close to finding his bucket! The smell of something foul lingered here making his muzzle scrunch up a bit, "Olelander....If you happen to see my blue bucket with the silver handle please let me know. Wen I met Russet Fawn here I accidentally dropped it".

Once he found his bucket it would be a matter of weaving backward till he found his sanctuary.

User Image "Don't need to warn me about things falling." Oleander said as he followed the other buck, "Had too many things shift and fall on my poor tail I almost wish it were shorter."

While it was said with a joking tone, he knew that falling things around here weren't a joke. Many a Noul had been lost to these ruins and the sooner it all was at ground level the better. Though... It did mean that there would be no more things to find here and he would have to search for other places. Shaking his head, Oleander looked to where the buck was standing, the rain pouring down around them.

"Am sorry about your parents..." his tone going serious for a few moments.

There was mention of the bucket again and a question of what he was seeking. Well there were many things that he was looking for, but most he wouldn't let out into weather like this. Glancing up at the ever grey clouds, wishing there was an Atmos who could dispel this mess from the air. But seems they were stuck with it and whatever else was out in it as well.

"Well, there are a few books I am hunting for, shiny things where ever I can get them." Oleander says as he glances off into the distance, not really looking at anything, though something did stick out against the darkness of the area. Something that was a striking blue color.

"Could that be what you are looking for up a head?" Oleander asked as he pointed with a hoof towards the blot of color among the grays and blacks.

As the skies swelled in a more foreboding gesture Tsarine sensed Olelander's discomfort being out in a storm. He pondered what to say, do to make things more tolerable being here in the ruins that seemed to be flourishing from the amount of rain lately. Remembering, his new life in Homewood fortunately brought little to no rain within that mystical place. Ayala seemed quiet leaving Tsarine the stage to make a new friend in this interesting meeting. So, he figured she wasn't going to be much help from here on out.

"Life here in the ruins, I never noticed how dangerous it was for me as a fawn. I mean I found my bucket which helped me bring water back to my sanctuary. And there were lots of greens I could eat to stay healthy". He pondered a moment with a scrunched muzzle, "Well, there are berries and such growing that will make you sick....Found that out the hard way".

Scoffing a hoof along the brittle road his ears perking to the sound of Olelander's tone. Eyes following where the other's hoof pointed, he felt a vibrant aura fall over him. Still being cautious he took off in a deliberate head-on walk toward the familiar blue.

"Could it be?" he asked allowed ears swiveling in excitement.

This place where he met Russet Fawn was riddled with scents of the Cat Beast fading away. Seemed the creature grew bored moving on elsewhere. Taking advantage of the situation while listening for crumbling danger he ran toward his bucket. Tsarine's head gracefully swinging downward in a smooth rhythm till the handle rested in his teeth, satisfied. Realizing his excitement probably threw Olelander for a loop he stopped placing his bucket on the ground.

"Thank you for reuniting me with my bucket. I can use this to carry out my other items from the sanctuary now".

Perking his ears to the droplets of rain falling like buckets he knew a few more moments in a bit he'd back in his sanctuary. Hopefully no one had thought to find his hiding place. He'd have to visit the waterfall on the way in as well. Turning to look at Olelander whom seemed a bit taller then himself he spoke.

"I know exactly where we are now. A few more buildings to get through and we'll be at the waterfall. Shouldn't be too much longer..."

Raising his head he took the lead after retrieving his bucket. Things were definitely looking up for him as he made his way back home.

User Image Oleander let the other buck talk, he was one to listen to others, for the most part. He had grown up on Homewood, but it wasn't the most exciting of things. Trees everywhere and not a shiny bit of anything anywhere. Not really something to write home about anyways... If it made any sense, it didn't to him.

"My upbringing wasn't the most glamorous. Parents lived in Homewood, I was very bored." he commented looking away a bit.

He watched as the younger buck went out into the rain to grab the blue object he had spotted. It seemed that it was indeed the bucket that he had been looking for. Well it was good that the buck had found what he had lost. There was talk of a sanctuary and this got to Oleander's curiosity. Was that where this one had lived since he had been a foal? One thing that Oleander had to shake his head at was the eating of the wrong berries.

"Many things in these places seem inedible. I can always lend you a book on telling the difference in other species of plants."he offered as it seemed that Tsarine now knew where they were and how far from where his home was.

"Also got a question for you. by any chance you another solar user? I have been meaning to find another to test something out. Kinda a small redundant thing, but something."

Tsarine was quite content to actually have someone to talk to for a change. He was happy enough to yammer on about his bucket, his life, most of all his sanctuary. Then he began to chatter on about his home in the ruins to his companion...

Officially not all over the ruins in his lifetime he'd found some interesting finds. Procured items in his sanctuary developed, engineered by the others into fascinating creations. With everything literally falling away to ruin sometimes digging with hooves was your only resource. His fist find was found a block from his sanctuary crumbling into nothingness. Greens grew heavily here keeping him content and fed when he visited. There lying in the corner half buried was his beloved bucket more musty and overgrown then it was now. Taking him a fair chunk of his time the fawn known as Tsarine freed the bucket flying backwards onto his rump. Being a soft blue the color resonated with him in a peaceful yet, tranquil state of mind. Retrieving his find led him to that faithful waterfall he visited every morning. Cleaning his bucket of the dirt and wear he mastered washing things with much practice under his waterfall that never dried up. Some could definitely say that this location was a gift of the ancients occurring most likely the Others had long perished. Once cleaned he headed back to his sanctuary with a filled bucket of water. Placing it beside his nesting area of tall grass he was content.

Once his backstory of his bucket was complete he paused perking his ears. The sound of fresh cascading water was within the vicinity. Leading his companion deeper inward to the ruins he faced a long stream of fresh water cascading downward running into a pool downhill. It seemed almost foreign in this location but, Tsarine always considered it as a gift. Drinking heavily of the fresh water his tail started swaying happily.

"This way" he called back to Olelander, "Oh and watch your step".

Moving in a quicker pace he found the secret entrance to reaching his sanctuary climbing over rubble and crumbled buildings. It was a tricky maneuver but, he made it over the obstacle showing Olelander where to step. In a flash he took off in a canter down the moss-filled hallway which was soft to the touch. Moving inward to the left he once again crawled through another broken structure then finally reached his sanctuary. Like a time capsule that had been untouched, unmoved by anything except Tsarine the day he left his home. A huge room dappled with sunlight outstreched carrying fresh shoots of unbroken greens. Within these walls there were scattered piles of treasure that seemed placed in order, if they carried any. The the left of the room was a bed of high grass wilted down from the weight of a noul. Tsarine's impression would forever be etched in this dangerous yet mythical place.

Once Olelander arrived behind him he spoke in regards to the question of magic, "The Grandfather tree granted me the power of Solar, yes. Curious why do you ask?"

Taking his bucket he began gathering things such as his favorite books, a few metal things, trinkets, and other oddities. The rest of the room was fair game if Oleander wanted to dig around. Once his bucket was full he turned waiting for Olelander's response. Wondering what he had planned Tsarine forgot about his reunion with the sanctuary to focus on Olelander.

"This is my sanctuary" he nodded proudly, "Please feel free to take with you whatever you like"

User Image Oleander listened as the younger buck spoke of his past. The finding of the bucket and so forth. This sanctuary sounded interesting. He could assume that anyone who lived in this place would have a safe place to live. But then, not too many lived in the Ruins that actually stayed in them for very long. Oleander nodded as the story was ended, seems fair enough that he would seek companionship in something. He had surrounded himself in objects over the year.

"Sounds like you have had your own fair share of adventures out here." He commented before watching where he was stepping the further into the ruins they went. "The reason I asked is I was wondering if you had gotten used to using your gift. Wanted to try out something with another solar user, granted if they had the right abilities."

Oleander paused as they came to where Tsarine's home had been. The area was suitable for someone living on their own. His home was much smaller then this, but very much crowded with items if not having more. Glancing around the den as it were he noted the bed where the other buck had slept over the years living here.

"Had quite the place here, didn't ya? Quite cozy and safe away from those out there. The scavengers and hunters, predators even." he nodded slightly as he glanced over toward Tsarine whom was collecting things that he was looking to take with him away from the sanctuary.

He had mentioned that most things were open game, so Oleander, silently squeeing like a filly. Pranced over to the far side of the den where the books were and started nosing them over. Glancing at the titles and the looks of the bindings, he pulled a couple that looked interesting and slipped them into the satchel around his neck. When he was finished there, he took a lap around the place to see what else was there.

"Took a while to collect everything here, huh?"

Tsarine was literally amused that Olelander was taking interest in those books he found in that that room basically falling apart to the point of no return. It had been a dangerous endeavor of avoiding falling beams and books. He wouldn't add in a couple had smacked him around a bit. Life in the ruins was truly an adventure though, Tsarine geared now more toward basking in pure sunshine in serenity of Homewood. Still this was a place he naturally called home as well son as those strong hooves had settled back into memories again.

Now, being reacquainted with his memories brought a sense of purpose. Being in the Barrens taught Tsarine he was much more then a foal in the ruins. He was helpful, endearing, and positive to a point. Well loosing his magic wasn't a great feeling at all but, those crystals turned out to help Pippen after all.

"I used glow in the Barrens when the light was dim. Let's see I also have Warmth and Endure". Thinking on what this all entailed he waited with a flick of an ear to see what Olelader had in mind. Using magic at apprentice level wasn't such big deal but to Tsarine it was a new adventure.

Ayala yawned leaving the Bucks to chatter and question one another. Basically, she could relax without going into maternal mode after whatever bothered her.

Tsarine on the other hand almost like a foal had his attention on Olelander, "Alright, what's this experiment you wanted to try"

User Image "Hmm. I too have Endure. Also have Cool. I am one to want to pit abilities against each other to see what happens. Like sprout with decay. Drizzle with Spillway. Such things." Oleander said before pulling a couple books from the shelves and tucking them away.

Turning away from the books, he looked at the younger buck. While it was true that what he was thinking was a little silly. But it was who he was, wanting to see the effects of abilities against others. It was just a case of explaining what he was getting at.

"Well, would you entertain me with seeing how Warmth and Cool would work against each other?" he asked watching Tsarine earnestly. "If you don't want to, that is fine too. Seeing this lovely piece of paradise in a land of bones is enough." Oleander glanced around again, his mind thinking of how they had gotten there. Maybe he could find the place again in the future and slip away with a few other items.
