With the sun shinning down in all its glory. Rays reflected off the still intact panes of glass that remained in what windows were undamaged. The grey of stone masked by the ever creeping vines of greenery was everywhere and a solitary light colored buck stood looking around. His grey eyes taking in the serene area as it just oozed history. "What shall we find today." His enthusiasm was high as his tail twitched behind him. Oleander had been to these ruins many times and many things had found their way back to his den on the fringes of Homewood. Many bits of jagged metal, glass and some things that had been considered art. Now they were just smudged, water washed pieces of parchment behind glass and held together by frames. But everything lined his den like trophies from a game hunt. Satchel about his neck the eccentric buck headed towards one of the larger and more decapitated buildings. There had to be some good things in there, right? He could only hope so and perhaps if there were others here they could help him? Or even better... Make a game out of it all. Oleander always fancied a scavenger hunt if the prizes were right.. Grinning like a mad hatter, the buck kept going... WC: 215

After days of being reprimanded for being too clingy and told to go out and experience the Ruins for herself, Ysalone had finally taken Roamer's advice and gone out to "find something" as he so liked to tell her. She'd left their shelter bright and early, having risen with the sun, and found herself frisking along in the shadows of old, abandoned structures. They towered over her, but where they had originally seemed forbidding and ominous, Ysalone had come to realize that the buildings themselves didn't post much of a threat. They couldn't move, after all. Ducking around the side of one particularly decrepit structure, the young doe found herself face to face with an unfamiliar buck, and she drew back to keep herself from running headfirst into him. "Oooh, excuse me!" she said brightly, in the way that polite strangers begged forgiveness when they almost hit each other. "It wouldn't be great for either of our days for me to run into you, would it?"Somewhere in the back of her head, she heard a stern warning from Roamer to be careful with strangers. But she shrugged it off. The old grump wasn't here right now, anyway. wc: 200

Having mostly just the hunt of objects on his mind, Oleander almost didn't see the doe that had almost run into him. Stepping back a moment, his momentum halted from going forward, the grin still on his face. Blinking back into reality and the gears that was his brain started turning again to matters not of things shiny. Oleander looked at the doe and tilted his head to one side. "I beg your pardon?" he asked, not quite catching what she had said until the very tail end of her sentence. "I didn't quite expect anyone else out here this far into the ruins. Come to join the adventure of finding things that shine?" His grin had returned as he spoke. Oleander had lowered his head a little to get on the same eye level as the Doe. He was a bit of a tall buck, all legs and very little else his mother had told him when he was just a foal. Grown he was now and he was still just legs with the ambition to learn what was out there. Mostly from the old dusty books that laid about the abandoned libraries of the Ruins. Also, I'm Oleander. To whom me I have the pleasure of speaking to?" He asked almost gentlemanly. WC: 214

"Finding things that shine?" Ysalone echoed, blinking curiously. The thought brought a slight tilt to her head. She wasn't quite sure what that entailed, but she could imagine it, and it certainly seemed exciting. Much more so than wandering around alone through the Ruins, feeling as if she hadn't quite figured out what she ought to do or where she ought to go. The doe suspected there was a learning curve to this... living out beyond the Homewood thing, and the more she thought about it, the more it seemed to benefit her to seize every opportunity to learn. "Why, I've never looked for or found anything that shines, but I'd be happy to help! I could provide a light, maybe, for things to reflect off of?" If there was any good way to use this ability of hers, this seemed to be it. She might actually be helpful for once, and that was a terribly exciting idea! She danced on the tips of her toes eagerly. "My name is Ysalone! Pleased to meet you, Oleander. A friendly face out here is always a welcome one." Her words were melodic, drifting up and down in pitch much in the way that a light bubble floated and sank with the currents in the air. wc: 200 + 217 = 417

Dryxel had been wondering the Homewood ever since he got back form the barrens and his quest. He had not used his gift yet but he was not in a hurry to. Bordumb had set in and he really needed a change of senary. This was probably why he found himself in the Reins today. He had only been here once. There had never been a need to travel to it again. At least not tell today. "Well here I am let's see what we find here." He said to himself as he begain walking into a building. The sound of voices echo off the buildings and Dryxel subconsciously follows the sound. He had nothing better to do in mind anyways. As he he came around a corner two nouls came into veiw. One buck that seemed to have a very joyful personality and a doe with a very well mannered demeanour. They looked nice enough at the very least. Walking up to them he patinetly waited to introduce himself not wanting to interrupt either of them. "Hello may I join you. What is everyone up to this day?" He kindly asked in the hopes that whatever they were doing was more fun then what he had been doing; nothing. Wc:210

Mielikki hadn’t had a trip back into the ruins in some time.A place she loved to explore and hunt for treasures she could bring back to her home and turn into art. Ever since she was small, she would venture to the ruins to see what she could find or even see. To learn about those who came before them and devastated their home. While she was preoccupied with preparing for and completing her dream quest at the grandfather tree, she missed her time here. If it was for the fact that she loved her tree home, she’d find a way to live in the ruins full time. But for now she was content with visits.
Today she came with her bucket and a hope to fill it. As she moved further into the ruins and parts that she hadn’t yet explored, Mielikki clung to the sides of the towering blocks. The shadows clung to her dark hide as she skirted around the buildings like a dire rat. So far into the ruins, Mielikki hoped she’d find solitude as well as treasures. But today seemed to be a prime day to explore the vast place as she kept spotting other nouls. Then she turned a corner and there was suddenly three other nouls, two bucks and a doe by the looks of it. Well so much for solitude….maybe peace?
Slowly, Mielikki began to back up to return to the shadows around the corner. But her hoof caught a stray patch of broken glass and it crunched loudly under hoof. With her head low, she froze suddenly, her eyes on the three nouls ahead of her. WC: 277

There were so many here in the ruins today! This made Oleander even the more excited, they could have a jolly ol' game! Grey eyes flicked from the two that stood closest to him, the doe was kind enough, even know she had never looked for things that shined? Really? Everything had their own glow if you knew where to look, but it pulled a chuckle from him. "There are always a few dark places here that could use some well deserved light." He nodded when she said that it was one of her abilities. Having the ability to cast light was an amazing one, he could endure dangerous climates, but here was one of the more temperate and never got too bad. While stuck in his own thoughts, he almost missed the buck that had come into sight. Those blue markings reminded him of water that rippled down stones to cascade into a pool below. Eyes almost glassing over at the gorgeous side of the buck he smiled. "Hello there to you too." His voice a little cracked before he cleared his throat, probably all the dust that was getting kicked up. "You are more then welcome to join us. If we get a few more to the gathering, might turn this into a game. Everyone loves a good scavenger hunt, right?" He asked between the doe and buck that were closest. His ears flicked slightly as he grinned at them, this was before the sounds of crunching in the distance caught that attention. Head swinging around, satchel swaying in the motion, Oleander glanced at the one whom was clinging to the shadows. Another one! Just about standing on the tips of his hooves, Oleander all but pranced over towards Mielikki and stopped just outside her shadow. The sun shining down on his golden coat as if to reflect that light towards her. "Would you like to come and join us? We might be pulling together a nice game. The more of us there are, the more treasures we shall find." Oleander said still with that grin on his face. This day was turning out better then he had first thought. He could only hope that it could turn even better with what they could find! WC: 377

Dryxel smiled happily at the buck that was that was very excited. The joy he gave off was almost contagious, almost if Dryxel ever let himself be over joyed. "Well...That sounds like something to do." He had not played a scavenger hunt game since he was a young foal but he was board and needed something to do so why not. Plus in a place like this who knew what one could find. "My name is Dryxel since I forgot to say before." he added hoping no one was offended. A loud echoing clatter comes form behind them springing Dryxel into a defensive stance. It was more reflexes then anything but there was dangers in the Ruins so one could never be to careful. In the shadows Dryxel can just make out the small white edges of a sabino doe. Relaxing he watches as the jovial golden buck practically skips over to invite another noul in on their game. "This might actually end up being fun after all." Dryxel says more to himself then an one in particular, though he was sure the buckskin noul standing near him could hear him just fine. With that in mind Dryxel turned to the noul beside him, "So what brings you the Reins this fine day?" It was a sad attempt at small talk but he was trying. He really needed to work on that in the future but he really did not have the best social skills. Dryxel waited to see if the buckskin noul would respond or if he really was as bad at small talk as he sound to himself. wc:247

"Oh, let's play!" Ysalone said eagerly, bouncing on her toes in anticipation as the newcomers arrived. "The more players, the better the game - surely!" Her tail swished in a lively staccato rhythm, the long hairs dancing as she moved. Finding so many friendly strangers was the last thing Ysalone had expected when she'd set off on her own that morning. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she was beginning to think that striking off on her own might not be as boring and uneventful as she had originally though. The doe could just imagine Roamer nodding his head with that self-satisfied smirk of his once he found out she'd done perfectly well by herself. He expected that of her. "I'm Ysalone!" the doe said in response to Dryxel, watching out of the corner of her eye as Oleander pranced off to invite the other doe to join their party. "I'm here with my mentor to help heal the area and investigate. Hopefully find some new things. But this game ought to help! I'm looking for some shiny things. What about you, what are you looking for?"wc: 200 + 217 + 193 = 610

Mielikki’s head shot up as the brightest buck she’d ever seen bounded over to her, just stopping mere feet from her. Her eyes went wide as the sun caught his golden pelt and shone brilliantly. She suddenly felt a bit faint from the energy coming off this buck, but she shook her head and blinked a few times. Well there went her day of quiet and solitude. There was just too many nouls out and about in the ruins today. However, Mielikki hadn’t been here in some time and dearly missed her times in the ruins. She wasn’t about to let too many bodies chase her off, especially with an empty bucket.
“A game, you say?” she finally said in a rather low tone. “For finding treasure? What kind of game is it?”
Mielikki wasn’t well versed in games that noul played as foals. She only had her mother when she was little, until she didn’t. Then Mielikki continued life the same just minus her mother. Mielikki didn’t quite understand the social aspects and games of noul life. She’d spent to much time with herself and the bucket. Her ears suddenly twitched.
“I’m trying,” Mielikki suddenly muttered over her shoulder. No one was there but she continued, “It’s just going to be a trial...I’ll manage. Just stop….”
Her eyes darted back to the golden buck. “I guess I’ll join….” she said reluctantly.

Dryxel smiled at Ysalone. She seemed to have the same jovial personality her mentor has. "Strange to have a mentor." Dryxel thought since he himself had to learn everything on his own. His parents had believed the only way to learn was by hard work and make your own mistakes. "You'll learn it better if you chip your hoof on it yourself." His father was famous for saying to anyone that asked for help. At the question on what he was looking for, Dryxel had no clue really but the boredom of the day had lead him her to find something so he answered "I search for something to do really. So a game sounds like just the thing for me." I was not really a good answer but it was the truth. "So your gift is solar?" he asked Ysalone since the other two had not joined the group yet. He her gift because he had heard the golden buck hand her talking about as he walked up to them. He was once again trying to make small talk but he was sure it was failure but he waited for her response all the same. wc: 210 + 247 + 196 = 653

Oh this was going to be just stellar! all but dancing away to meet back up with the buck and doe that were getting well acquainted with each other, Oleander had the biggest grin on his face. There was a lot of joy pouring off him that there were so many around and wanted to join in on a game. Yes, he was much like a foal in the biggest field of flowers and didn't know which one to try and eat first. "Wonderful, wonderful!" He started walking over to a set of steps to put himself a little higher then the rest. "Lets get this scavenger hunt started. The building behind me is our target. I haven't been in here and it looks more or less untouched by others." He peered backwards over his shoulder at the looming tower of twisted metal and stone. "While inside we'll hunt for anything that is shiny or even strange. Something that you will think is the strangest of everything. While I am in for more the books and papers things." He glanced back at the Trio below. "There will be many treasures to be found. Large and small. You are welcome to pair up or search on your own. We shall all meet back here with our finds when the sun reaches the upper windows of that building." He pointed with his horn towards a building that stood still ever straight. The sun was still far over head so it would give them some time to hunt and scavenge. As he paused he looked back towards the three whom had joined him in this venture. He was excited to see what they could find, besides the things he hoped to discover. With nerves ready to spring like.. well... springs, he asked. "Any questions?"WC: 301

As the over joyed Buck skipped back with his new found doe friend, Dryxel could not help but grin slightly at the Buck. "The spirit of a foal." He thought to himself with a slight shack of his head. Dryxel himself could not understand how so much joy could fit in one noul but some how it did. As the buck explained how that game worked, Dryxel thought of things that he might find in the mountainous building before him. Shiny or not whatever they found would be interesting to see. Turning his thought back to the buck and what he was saying, he could tell the buck was more then ready to explore, which made Dryxel grin again. "He enthusiasm is contagious." Dryxel though and shook his head. Dryxel was not one for showing his emotions but he had already grinned more then once in this one nitration then he had in many suns. With no question to ask Dryxel waited to see if anynoul else had anything to add before they moved to explore for treasures. wc: 210 + 247 + 196 + 177 = 830

Mielikki grudgingly joined the other two nouls as the buck that came at her returned to them and then proceed up some steps a ways. She tilted her head slightly and looked up at him as he motioned towards the building and what they were to look for. So shiny and strange, well that didn’t seem so hard. Most things in the ruins were strange if not shiny too. She gazed up at the other building indicated in correlation to the sun. We did have time to look and being with the others was optional. Perfect, maybe she could try and avoid the floors the others had chosen. Her bucket squeaked lightly as she moved her head back around to look at the golden buck.
“When do we star--”_______________________ Specterdust had accomplished her first quest and was gifted botanics. She was quite surprised by that seeing as she didn’t have much affinity for the green stuff unless it was to eat it. But it seemed the Grandfather Tree felt she’d contribute to the field of botanics and so she must. Pollinate was her first ability and she had attempted to do it a couple times on her way back from the tree. She almost had it but not quite and she wasn’t quite sure what it did. What was pollen anyway? What did it do?
So plants, well plants seemed few and far inbetween in the barrens, so after a rest up at home with mom and dad, Specterdust headed for the ruins. She really didn’t want to keep trying in Homewood where her parents would see or find out how bad she was at it. So today, she headed as far into the ruins she could go where there was less and less nouls to see. Or at least nouls she might know. However, she could hear the clear voice of a male just past some buildings. He sounded like he was addressing other nouls.
Specterdust quickly and quietly got as close to the buck and his group as she could, enough to see them. Ahh, four nouls and none of them she recognized. “Hmmmmm, perfect actually, maybe make some new friends today and maybe try to use pollinate. If it fails, maybe they wont notice…. Big entrance then just in case.” She thought to herself. She noticed she was leaning against a decent sized square...rock? Perfect vantage point for a big entrance.
She moved away from the square rock thing and kept out of sight. She then proceeded the make a run at it, jumping just at the right moment to reach the top. As her tiny hooves hit the top of the square rock, “HAVE NO FEAR! SPECTERDUST IS HERE!!” She shouted loudly for all four nouls to here. She felt her magic rise a bit and she grabbed hold and hoped for the best as she thought about pollen, not even knowing what it was, sparkles? Sure! Let’s go with that. A small poof of something appeared and then floated away so quick you almost missed it.
"Yay! I did it!"_______________________ Mielikki’s eyes about bugged out of her head when a tiny grey and white noul suddenly appeared higher up the steps, shouting. She was so shocked, she dropped the bucket with a loud “clank” to the ground. Whose kid was this just out here wondering around this deep in the ruins? Why is she shouting and announcing herself like that? And what on earth did she just produce above their heads? Was the pollen? Wait, she’s not a kid?WC: 597 Total: 1,107

Ysalone was happy to see that they had recruited a few more members to the search party. The doe beamed at all the newcomers, bouncing around lightly on her toes in eager anticipation. Hopefully everyone who'd shown up was excited about potentially discovering some new things.
"Sounds like a plan to me!" Ysalone said with a definitive nod. She wasn't sure what exactly she would be searching for, but with any luck it'd be something that reflected light. The thought of picking up some shiny things in the ruins was quite uplifting - something bright in the midst of decay and degradation.
"Oh, yes," she added, turning back to Dryxel as the group began to splinter and head toward their respective searches. "My gift is solar. I can make my horn glow. Which is why I wanted to find some shiny things. And yourself?"
