Deep within his paws counted the days till he could traverse out to that familiar neck of the woods to find her again. Following protocol, he had switched positions with other scouts hoping endlessly when he could enjoy the company of star Skunk. Not breathing a word to anyone including his family he was leading a secretive life. Proving himself an asset to the pack was his greatest achievement, though Light in the Storm played a sidekick role if he could have given reasons why the credit wasn't all his. Hand in hand the duo worked well seeking out abnormalities of the forest. A deep sounding "caw" was all it took to set off the other voices of the feathered avians working with the pack. Security had been rather tight with the others non-returning from the other world. There had been much fear if not unwanted attitude about other wolves straying too far in the event something wayward would occur giving Big Bad more remorse for letting the pack go in the first place. Hidden Fox knew this was for the safety of the pack itself though, he wished he could just sneak away for only a moment to see Star Skunk once again. As the week advanced he was finally able to resume s Scouting duties leaving the pads of his feet to lightly brush against the ground as he headed toward the pack boundary line. Their meeting time was greatened shortly as the silver rays dapple the ground. Looking upward the moon was rather full this night giving him an alluring feeling. If she truly kept her promise she'd be there waiting even if his timing was drastically off. Ears perking a ruffling of feathers notified the enamored wolf he wasn't alone.
"I wouldn't stray too far, Fox" came the warning of his friend. "In fact be on your best behavior before the other Scouts here your childish nature", Keeping in time with the wolf he swept past to land on a tree outlining the boundary line. Ruffling his feathers. "No worries there's a she-wolf about. If she's hiding I'd say she not that great about it". Light in the Storm chuckled to himself knowing Fox would have tackled him for being rude in reference to Star Skunk. Thank goodness he was within the safety of the trees. The thought of a young wolf in love with all that slobber gave him the willies.
Hidden Fox snapped his teeth for humor, "You're glad you are a tree hugger, Storm. I would seriously have you grounded by now". Letting his paws come to a halt he stood there inhaling the breeze of incoming spring. The moon being exceptionally bright would make this adventure all the more interesting. Right now he wouldn't dwell on pack rules to damper the mood. Not exactly forfeiting his job he rather didn't want to bog her down with joining the pack. Essentially, it was her part to make the decision, not his. While most scouts would have forced her to the guards to be blindfolded, he'd handle this differently. Fox & Storm WC: 515

Star Skunk hated watching Hidden Fox leave that night a week ago, watching his bird friend also vanish made her lonely. Frowning to herself, she had made herself a hollow a good distance away from the Crow's pack lands, well out of bounds so that others wouldn't find her. But keeping close enough for when she was to meet up with him again. Many days Skunk traveled far from the redwoods hunting for food and other things. Some nights not returning to her hollow until the night after, she just made sure to be there when the time came. The day that marked a week they had first met, Skunk busied herself with things. Peeking around trees as she hid from other scouts awaiting to see when Fox was to replace the one on duty. Time ticked on as it almost slowed completely. Soon that silver light of the moon drifted over the ground like mist. Skunk yawned slightly as she rested against one of the large trees hiding in the shadows where only the white of her markings would reveal where she was. She had dozed off slightly before voices drifted to her ears. One was high up, she could only assume that it was Light in the Storm. He seemed to be saying that she was near and a bad hider, not like she was really hiding in the first place. "Not very funny you ball of feathers." Skunk voiced her own opinion as she glanced up at the bird in the scant lighting. "Come down here and I'll have more feathers for accessories." Standing where she had been laying, she shook what snow was clinging to her coat in balls, she looked over towards the wolf that accompanied the bird. "We meet again." Her voice playful. "Couldn't he have stayed home for one night?" She glanced again up at Storm, an ear flicking off to one side in the process.

Light in the Storm presently preened his feathers till he heard her voice. Fluffing himself up he purposely proposed himself to resemble a ball of feathers as she had stated. "Oh, my fem Fatale has called me a ball of feathers. Whatever should I do?" he mocked her chuckling still looking like her description. Now, he took it in his claws to strut back and forth fluffed up big and overly round.. "Look at the birb.... ball of feathers... caw caw". After his fun, he smoothed his feathers into his normal self leaning over the branch, "That good enough for you, Princess Skunk?". He laughed in spite of his antics then looked at Fox, "Your lady love is over here waiting. Be a prince and sweep her off her feet, Romeo". Yes, he was laying it on a bit thick but, he was having fun doing so.
Hidden Fox's eyes closed in embarrassment as Storm literally was being the sole representation of an annoying crow. Although in the bird's antics he couldn't help but chuckle how funny that bird looked puffed up in a ball. Nothing but a fat chickadee was what he really wanted to say aloud, Fox chose to keep quiet. Instead, his tail wagged when her coat illuminated in the softness of the moon's rays. Paying attention to Storm's comments was drowned away indefinitely seeing that silver beauty sparkle under the full moon. Immediately, his heartbeat quickened simply getting to be with her again. Moving without warning he was directly in front of star Skunk seizing the chance to watch her blue orbs float like the river under the moon. "Hello again "he breathed his heart still beating frantically, "I hope you didn't wait too long". It was all he could do to be apologetic in light of him scouting later than usual. Wagging his tail again he leaned in for a quick lick upon her soft furred cheek. "I've missed you" he blurted out not caring if it sounded awkward. Her scent through his craziness grounded him to be by her side regardless if he was being a bit close. Deep within he knew she was just excited as he was.
Storm watched the two quietly now for it was in his best interest to let Fox be with the one thing that fueled him right now. Puppy love. That's what it was pronounced n two creatures, wolves even found affection in one another. Stretching his wings he spoke after the Amore moment, "You two go have fun. I'll keep a watch out as promised," Absolute loyalty fueled this avian since he was a chick forever following his companion. For now, though Fox had a date with destiny which Storm could only watch by the sidelines.
Fox's ears perked to Storm then back to Skunk, "So, you find any fun places for us to explore?" Setting out the invitation he knew she had traveled far so her eyes must have laid upon something they could share together.Fox and Storm WC: 501

An ear twisted back as the bird over head. If it had been any other bird they would have been nothing but feathers when she was finished. As it was, she just glared up at Light in the Storm, though with a grin she looked back to Fox. "Would you like a new necklace? I hear crow feathers are in this year." While it was just in humor, she did keep voice down as she had seen others from the pack lands whom were also accompanied by birds. It seemed that these birds were held with high regard even if Fox had explained it in their last meeting. Shaking her head at Storm, she turned her thoughts to Fox whom had come up and licked her on the muzzle. She had missed her dynamic friend, it seemed far too long that they had been apart. More then just time separated them, there was an invisible line and a lot of other bodies. As she sat there a moment, she almost missed what had been said. Had she waited too long? She always worried that he would forget about her while he was away. Away and mingling with those of his pack. "Nah, not all that long. I've been looking around the Redwoods and seeing what there was." She grinned, her tail giving a bit of a wag itself. "But I did miss you, some of your comrades were tricky to hide from. Some sharper then others, but I get far enough away they seem to stop trying to find me." She tilted her head a little, curious of what it was like to be in a pack. To be with others... I did find a place to hide when things were getting crowded around here." Star Skunk gave a grin as she stood up and paced over towards Fox, brushing against him as she went. "Its up by the river. Not too far, you sure you can get away from your patrol?" She asked as she looked back at him, she didn't want him to get into any trouble. Then again, there was always Storm to keep an eye out for those that might be around. Skunk wouldn't want to get caught with Fox, things would probably be bad for the both of them... But she wanted to show him her hiding place, while it was still close to the pack lines, but still a good distance away from normal patrol lanes...

Light in the Storm wasn't amused but, he knew full well Fox had affection for this daring female. While could have retorted with some uppity remark he chose to ignore her ruffling his feathers. Perhaps it was a laugh ora scoff only a true crow would have deciphered just what Storm really meant.
Hidden Fox paid no attention to his feathery companion. His focus lied upon her being here with him in the Moonlight. She shivered like silver under the moon's glow making her seem ethereal to him with a touch of that dynamic flair.
Beautiful.
He was thankful to have met her of course as to why he strayed past the boundary line with each pawprint in the chilled earth. The other scouts hadn't caught her scent which was a blessing. If she crossed that line she'd have to face Big Bad and plead her stay with the pack. That is if she passed the trial of course. What could he say, do, to give her the confidence to join him as part of the pack? Ears flicking back and forth, his mind trickled ideas as she spoke. If the other scouts were tracking her, they definitely never breathed a word about it in his presence. It was almost like they knew but never let on.
Interesting.
Her capricious, playful attitude brought excitement to the young male. Brushing up against him brought his thoughts full circle to focus on her words, movements now. Looking up at Storm who he knew was listening without skipping one moment he spoke, "I need you to keep watch which I go with her. If someone comes by just say I'm hunting something, whatever".
Light in the Storm wanted to object desiring to follow the lovebirds to this secret place, but he nodded in agreement. Ruffling his feathers he coughed, "Yes Yes have fun while the big Birdie bounty hunter watches for intruders. Can do captain". Being snarky was always his forte which he openly admitted to anyone listening.
Hidden Fox cleared his throat turning to Star, "Lead the way then. I let Storm to be the patrolling sentry, no worries". He chuckled grinning at her. It was such a lovely night so he was taking the opportunity for a wonderful date. Mustering up his feelings in words was a tricky subject Fox had yet to fully grasp.

Skunk just watched the Bird from the corner of her eye as it seemed that he was going to leave them to their musings. While the feather duster did annoy her to a point, she was glad to have a set of eyes in the sky, as it were. In any case, it seemed that it was going to be only her and Fox heading for the den behind the falls. Not that it was a big one, It had been enough for her and could be big enough for the two of them to 'get cozy in'. A soft giggle ruffling her fur slightly, she shook the thoughts from her head. "You sure that...." She began before shaking her head once more, it seemed that he had his mind set and she was feeling her paws itch to move . "Alright, lets go." Star Skunk stepped away from Fox, her tail flicking to try and tickle his nose in her passing. Heading away from the line of scents that formed the pack bounds. Paws carried her towards where the water flowed. It was here she paused a moment to glance back to see if Fox was behind her. She knew he would be, but still, she didn't want to leave him behind. "Its this way, there is a small falls up the river away from your pack lands. The cave beneath it is where I have been staying mostly. Fish are plentiful here, even in the winter. Does your pack have a lot of food stored for the winter? Or do you always have to hunt for it?"

Hidden Fox followed her, especially after she teased him with her tail. He sneezed with a silly grin then followed her eagerly. He was curious about what sort of hiding place she procured away from his pack. He wasn't worried too much about her as she had a fantastic sense of concealment. As they reached this "secret place" he was mesmerized by its beauty long before they arrived. New scents filled his nostrils as it did his mind. This had been the first time he dared tread off the pack lands without the alpha's knowledge.
Her questions caught him off guard leaving his mind to work in full-motion. Still being a pup in adult skin he tried remembering their food storage. "Well... he spoke calmly, our pack has several alliances. Within the peaceful times, the different alphas come together in a festival of sorts. Sometimes, it for the arrival of pups or other good news. Gifts are offered and a great celebration is to be accepted. Meat, herbs, and items are plentifully leaving our pack to flourish" he nodded, "Though, yes our hunters still bring back their fair share of meat and the gathers bring back items".
Wait a minute? Did she ask about the pack? His ears swiveled on her like a radar. Was Star Skunk thinking of becoming a Crow? He didn't want to be over-ambitious in his thinking but, something stirred within him positively. Looking ahead he spotted the small falls with the smell of freshwater. Taking the initiative he moved toward the falling water teasing her with his own tail. Pondering a moment he spoke, "Being part of the pack is a big brag right. Ours is a strong family that sees over one another. While others are established in likeness, all of Crow would do anything for our alpha. Even.... investigate another world".

The small falls loomed a head, it was maybe high enough for a wolf to leap to the top if using another to vault off of. Otherwise they would have to take the long way around to reach the top. The water spilled over the edge and cascaded down to the river beneath, hidden behind the falls, not really noticeable where they were approaching from, was a small cave that Skunk had made a Den within. In the silver moonlight, the water almost seemed to shimmer in a faint rainbow before the low mists. "This is where I have been staying, besides the small snow hollow where we first ran into each other." She grinned at him before he started answering her questions. It seemed that being in a pack was like having a large family. While she did miss her own, they had all grown rather distant as it was. She hadn't seen her father in ages, the rest... She wasn't sure where they were, but it sounded nice to be around others... For the most part, not having to always hunt for food was a nice idea at least. Then again, the hunt was always a thrill. The stalk, the chase and the kill. It was something that any wolf lived for. "Sounds interesting, I have been alone since my family seemed to go their separate ways. Father was always the wanderer and never stayed around long. Sometimes it does get lonely out here, but seeing you makes it all worth it Fox." She cozied up against him. Perhaps even joining his extended family might not be a bad idea. Loneliness does get to a wolf if they aren't careful.

His eyes flickered for this mini paradise she called home was quite enchanting. The droplets of water of pinged in a joyful, effervescence over the rocks below. Leaning inward he himself couldn't resist lapping up the coolness of the falls leaving him refreshed, invigorated to be here in this sanctuary. If they did try seeking her out the water washed her scent away. He was, of course, relived.
"Quite the place you have here Star...Skunk", he murmured with a cheeky grin. As she cozied up to him he spoke over fumbled feelings, 'You know, you don't have to be alone, I'm here" he spoke with determination, "Star... I've been ....I've... well"....
Internally he was fighting tooth and nail to find just the right words but he was nervous like a pup right now asking for an extra scrap of meat.
"Thing is" he continued swallowing heavily, "I like you. No, I really like you" he stumbled again groaning. Looking into the water pooling his face he closed his eyes then turned to look into her eyes, "I... love you Star Skunk". Suddenly, he feared rejection from her blurting out something so bold. He was afraid he'd lose her yet, somehow he knew she'd say yes to such a proposition. "I want you to be my mate... even if you choose not to join the pack. I just want to be by your side, always". His eyes gleamed in hopeful shimmering excellence waiting for her answer. Placing his large paw over hers he wanted to hear her thoughts, her ideas. In questioning bliss, he just wanted to know where the future would carry them both.

"It is just a little place, good for one or two to live within." she almost 'purred' as Fox stepped over to the river to get a drink. While they weren't that far from the pack lines, it was true that the water would wash away any scent she would have left and hide her from sight. The den itself behind the falls was lined with moss and leaves she had found here and there. It was all built up to be warm against the winter chill that seeped through the stones at night when the sun sunk as it had already done. With other bodies sharing the space it would have been warmer then just herself in the space. Her thoughts shuffled as Fox seemed to stumble as he spoke. Her head tilting to one side as her ears pulled themselves forward. What was he saying? Something about liking her? Loving her? This caught her breath and made her heart audibly jump to just about hammer against her rib cage. While Skunk hadn't thought of such feelings. She had at one time thought it was just a one time thing, but... Just hearing the words tumble from his maw like the water over the falls. It caused her to freeze like the ice at the water's edge. "Fox..." She started, if she were any other creature she was sure that her face would be as red as the blood that rush through her veins. "The first time we met, I felt there was a reason we were both in that snow patch." Skunk wasn't too sure how to word all this, all the while her heart hammered in her ears. "I...I... I LOVE YOU TOO!" She shouted, eyes closed and ears laid back, if it weren't for his paw over hers, she might have moved. Her tail flicking slightly she did make one move and that was to shove her head up under his chin. Her eyes remained closed, almost afraid to open them and break whatever spell was wrapping itself around them. The air seemed suddenly thick and making it hard to breath. She just didn't want to wake up is this were a dream, afraid to find herself cold and alone...

Fox's head was spinning with so many outcomes flinging around in his mind. Would she say yes? Would she run away terrified leaving him to ponder his mistake? So many things could befall their future together he just had to be strong...
Wait? What?!
His eyes gleaming in the moonlight gazed excitedly into Star Skunk's own jeweled orbs of blue. Heart racing he heard her exclaim her answer as if the simple yet complex subject was welcomed, embraced with positive reinforcement. Her enthusiasm made him overjoyed to the point he thought he might burst. Was he dreaming? Was she? Did they truly confess their love for one another? As she thrust her head under his chin he wanted to stay this close to her for an eternity. Leaving inward he sighed, "This is not a dream right? We both proclaimed our feelings for one another". Tail wagging he thought of the future he'd spend with her. Perhaps if he explained to his alpha the circumstances. No, he'd be in serious trouble for letting her so close to the boundary line. Instead, he just held his position hoping that Storm wouldn't break the mood. As the water flowed down over the rocks he felt at peace being with her.
"I love you Star Skunk... Now and forever".

"Was it too soon?" She had to ponder out loud, though there was no going back, there was never any going back. She had her heart set on this male wolf from the time she had seen him. It had been on the other side of his pack's lines. She had gotten dangerously close of course. There had been times that those of the pack could have run her off, pulled her into the pack for what ever reason. Star Skunk was wary of the lines after meeting Hidden Fox, not wanting to get him or herself into trouble... "I love you too Hidden Fox. Now and forever. Just... What will those of your pack think?" This was a concern of hers, she had a feeling that whatever pups were born were to be taken to the pack. Out of her reach and things would be strained. Perhaps she should join his pack? Could they hide their pups and relationship if she didn't? Packs were fierce things and guarded their young just as fiercely as each other. This was something to ponder, she never wanted to leave Fox's side, though he had to leave hers to return home. Her made her tail droop ever so slightly, what would be the best solution for all this. It did seem that her joining was going to have the most benefit... That and she wouldn't be alone anymore..

Fox enjoying this moment of bliss stiffened once reality was kicking back in. The pack. He was brought in by his father from the outside to join the pack. Big Bad was so incredibly taller than the small fluff Fox was growing away from into the sleek male he was today. She'd have to take the trial, it was simple. But, he feared she might not pass. This was the whole reason he hadn't pushed the thought upon her in the first place that most scouts did. If she wanted to face the alpha then with her promise she'd take the trial.
Swallowing heavily he frowned at her thoughts momentarily.
"I won't lie" he spoke solemnly, "If we kept a relationship up like this neither one of us would be content. If you stayed an outsider and we have pups, well I must bring one into the pack whom you'd never see again till they were able to explore freely. I hate the idea but, it is pack law". He grunted perking his ears in case Storm called him back before he spoke again. Once the quiet proved he had more time he continued, "I'm not forcing you to join but, I'm giving you the option" Leaving in he licked her furry cheek in reassurance, "I know you can overcome anything Star Skunk. The trial may be intimidating but, it's over within a day. If Big Bad approves your plea, we can have our own den together to raise future pups".
He smiled, tongue lolling downward in a smile, "The answer you choose is up to you Star Skunk. Let it be known though I'm madly head over heels for you and never want to leave your side whatever your decision".
He breathed heavily awaiting her answer knowing full well she knew her answer to this puzzling situation.

Skunk listened to Fox as he explained his pack and their Law about pups if she weren't to join his pack. Frowning slightly, she didn't want to be like her father and only see so many pups at a time. Leaning against Fox as he went silent. It was her choice to stay or to join, these were things that she could do. While the thought of asking him to leave had popped up, she didn't want him to be seen as a traitor to those he had sworn himself to protect. Pulling away from Foz, Skunk stepped over to the water and lowered her head to drink. The cold watch chilled her insides and calmed her mind. She would miss the den she had created out of necessity to remain close to Fox. But if she moved into the pack with Fox, they could make a new den. One that would be shared with future pups and other Family. Pausing she glanced back at Fox, he was as head over heels as she was it was just... How would she fit in? She was pup-ish and someone who would take pranks a little too far. Puzzling things over she looked towards the skies. "Where do you think I would fit in if I did join?" She asked looking back towards Fox. "Think there will be room for another scout or something?" There wasn't a question that she wouldn't join, just she wasn't sure where she might fit. She and Fox were kind of close in personality, but she was more the play with everyone and not care. Shaking her head she turned away from the flowing water and grinned at Fox. She was going to just have to try and see what would happen. "Lets give it a try, never know what will happen, Right?" Star Skunk said playfully weaving herself beneath Fox's belly and out the other side like a pup, her tail curled over her back slightly. This trial fun and if she could win this game, she wouldn't have to wait long periods of time to see Fox.

As she rose from his side to retrieve a drink from the cool water that still lingered on his tongue, Fox watched her curiously. She was in deep thought he could tell whether it was good or bad. Ears swiveling he caught her breathing which was a little fluttered but not instantly nothing to be worried over. Her mind was definitely putting her to the test about everything. As she asked her question of him he paused in his own contemplation, It took a minute, perhaps two to derive an answer for her.
"Well, there are many roles you could take in the pack depending on what you want to do. As a scout, I patrol border lines for danger or trespassers. Storm is my set of eyes and ears when I can't get to a certain area. He's extremely annoying but he's like a brother to me".
Her mood was changing as were her heart rate again which brought a smile to his muzzle. "I think you make an excellent scout" he noted with a firm nod of his head. "If Big Bad deems you something else I'm sure you'd fit where he puts you in any case".
Suddenly, she was herself again weaving under his belly like a playful pup as Storm called off in the distance. It was time to return to the pack.
"I have to start back to the pack. As I extend a paw to you Star Skunk" he spoke moving in close to her, "Will you return with me? If you're accepted into the pack I'm sure we can return to this place again".
Stepping over her he noted the flapping of wings letting him know it was time.
"My heart is with you Star Skunk. Always. Whatever you decide".
