When Stag Jump had returned from his journey, he'd found that there was dreadful news awaiting him. Bone of Sunopal, the son of the Head Elder, had also attempted the journey up the hill, but when the storm hit the younger wolf, he'd been hit hard. Multiple wounds and a stay with the Healers of the pack, it was clear that the misery of the incident had hit the pack hard. What a good time to bring in his news of good fortune!

He couldn't hide the fact that he brought the egg home and was happy to tell anyone who asked about it. He made sure that it always got the sunniest spot and he kept it wrapped in his cloak at all times. He doted upon the egg much like a proud mother. He dreamed of the protection it would bring upon the pack once it hatched.

He was blessed with the excitement of a new parent, but he didn't forget the youngster that was fussed over by the Healers. With a broken leg and various other injuries, Stag Jump had tried to come up with a way where he could share his glory with the young male. Finally, gathering up his nerve, he picked up the egg in its cape bundle and padded over to where Sunopal was resting.

"Hello," He said through fabric with perked ears, setting it down gently and immediately laying down beside it, curling it towards his stomach like he'd seen mothers do with their pups. "I was wondering if you'd like to see it. The egg. I'm not sure if you'd heard, but it was what I had found on the top of the mountain..." He flicked his ears, wondering if this would bother the young wolf, or incite jealousy or misery, more than curious delight. "If you're interested, that is. If not... I'll leave you to rest up." He offered the other, awaiting their reply.

With his mother taking care of him there's not much Sunopal could do in moving out of the healers quarters, no matter how much he would just like to go back to the den he resides in. He admitted his defeat rather quickly, the tears his mother held back purely by will alone being the most persuasive to the decision, and when he had heard that Stag Jump went shortly behind him and came back fruitful in his endeavors... Well his thoughts weren't too nice at first.

After resting and calming himself down, the anger dissipated and he only wished to see what he had gotten injured over. The mystery that had captured him into attempting the travel to the top of the mountain. He didn't want to ask somebody to go get the scout though, he didn't want Stag Jump to feel as if he had to come because he was the alphas son. He didn't want it to be a summons.

So he waited, as hard as it was with his curiosity screaming at him, and like his mother always tried to teach him: eventually with patience came the reward. Stag Jump had come to visit him, and asked if he wanted to look at the egg.

Egg?

He begins to gently lift himself up so he could lay properly instead of reclining like some weird bubble of water, it allowed him to see better, and while moving he speaks: "I would like to see it, yes. So it's an egg? Was is really a phoenix?"

He settles himself back down, now at a better angle to witness the captive of his curiosity. Though its visible that his pain affected him in his hesitant movements and strained words, his eyes were alight in wonder. He laughs at the words he's about to say, "I have many questions, but I will try to speak clearly and below the speed of a hyped up squirrel. Sometimes my excitement over such things just makes my brain speed up faster than my own mouth."

He gives the scout a little awkward lopsided smile, "Thank you for visiting by the way, I was wondering how your trip went and what the prize was."

He knows Stag Jump isn't the kind to come to gloat, more than likely it was just to share his find with someone else who was interested, but Sunopal couldn't help but hope that it was also to check on him. He knows it's unlikely, he keeps to himself and to his training sessions; mostly traveling through the pack lands at night to stay out of sight so he doesn't cause his family trouble with his presence, but he could always hope.

"What were they like?"

Stag Jump had been so relieved to see that Bone of Sunopal was, as he had hoped, interested in the prize he returned home with. He waited for the younger wolf to adjust his posture so that he could see it better and he nodded eagerly.

"It really was! I was so surprised to see her, even with all the rumors. Goodness knows if any wolf knows you can't always trust gossip, it's me." He said with a smile and a brief wag of his tail. "But anyway, I got to the top and I saw this HUGE bird! And warmth radiated off of her. I didn't know the phoenix was a girl until she spoke- they can speak! Just as clearly as I am speaking to you!" His eyes were alight with excitement, relieving it as he did every time he spoke about it.

"She spoke and she rewarded my efforts with this egg! Then she told me about this mountain that has a fire soul in the desert to the south, past the river run... I need to throw this egg into that fire at the perfect moment to ensure that it hatches!" He fidgeted anxiously. "But I don't know when that perfect moment will be! And I've never been that far away from the Court." He gave a dramatic sigh. "I'll do what I can for this egg, but I may have to leave soon." He looked over his shoulder for a moment and then back to the injured wolf. "But I wanted to see you first, before I left, at any rate. When I heard that you'd been injured trying to search for the same thing I did... I thought you might like to see it." He concluded.

He uncurled himself away from the egg slightly.
"You can touch it, if you want. It's totally unreal! It's so warm... like a fire is burning inside the egg. It doesn't hurt, though. It's just... comforting." He said and gently rolled the egg within Sunopal's touching distance, watching the precious ruby oval closely, in case of any cracks. "Just-well, be gentle, okay?"
