Hazeline followed after the thing. Whatever it was she knew it was real! It was here in Homeworld and maybe it had found her! Hazeline continued after the light shape, it was definitely very quick and smart, it was taking her through some very thick brush and she could lose sight at any time. She didn't give up though, and finally, finally, she got close enough to yell at whatever it was. So close, in fact, she could have sworn she was chasing a jack hop. However, why would a jack hop be following her and why would she have seen it in her dream when she visited the grandfather tree?
“Can you stop!” She herself stopped because boy was she out of breath. If it had followed her so far, well it could follow her again. However, just like that, the light shape disappeared and there was silence. Hazeline stood still, listening to her heavy breathing until it subsided and it was just her. “I’m not going to hurt you!” She yelled out into the forest, but there was no answer. Maybe she was going crazy and imagining everything? Was that something that happened to Noul’s? She had no idea, but she couldn’t stay here all day.
Hazeline huffed and stomped a foot before turning around and heading back to her home. She had flowers to care for and other things that were currently more important than chasing down some random jack hop. Her tail gave one angry swish before her mind turned to the flowers and the tasks ahead of her as she made her way back to her home. She was still trying to figure out a good way to get enough water to her garden and there were also all the seeds that still needed to be separated. She was also looking forward to picking some flowers and having them dry out so she could use a few to decorate.
By the time she was finished her mental to do list, she’d arrived at the start of her little garden. The flowers here were still budding. She’d just planted them. She wanted those who entered her area to have an immersive experience when they walked in. First, just a few little flowers that were almost plain in color, but gradually their numbers increased and the colors became much more vivid. When they reached her home, there would be flowers for as far as the eye could see. Hazeline gave a soft sigh, it made her so happy.
“You have a very pretty home,” came a voice from behind and all the hair on Hazeline’s body rose up as she turned around quickly to see who the intruder was. There, on the ground amidst the flowers sat the pretty jack hop munching on some of the flowers.
“Hey don’t eat my garden!” Hazeline yelled back at her, moving carefully into the flowerbed to reach the jack hop. “You’ve been following me!”
“I have.” This time the jack hop did not move but stayed still.
“Why?” Hazeline thought she’d feel angry but that quickly deflated when she regarded the jack hop sitting there so innocently. She couldn’t begin to imagine what it was like in the ruins.
“I don’t know, I saw you and felt like following you.”
“Well after that ordeal, I can kind of understand.” Hazeline replied before spotting a weed and diving into the flowers to pluck it out, the jack hop momentarily forgotten.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” The jack hop moved in and out of the flowers, sometimes disappearing and then reappearing in another area.
“It’s fine if you don’t want to talk about it.” Now that one weed had been spotted, Hazeline was focused on finding more. Every time she spotted one, she plucked it as close to the roots as possible. She absolutely despised weeds.
“You like flowers a lot huh?”
“I do,” Hazeline replied between mouthfuls.
“I have a seed I think you might be interested in. I like finding this kind of stuff.”
Hazeline’s head snapped in the direction of the jack hop quickly, eyes landing on a blueish seed the jack hop was holding. She’d never seen one like that before.
“I can give it to you and find more for you if you like,” the jack hop said, still holding it out to her. “I’m Light Foot by the way.”
“Hazeline,” the doe moved closer under her nose and lightly touched the seed. “Want to help me plant it?”
“Sure.”
The two quickly got to work in finding a good spot for the seed and it wasn’t long before it was planted and water and Hazeline was staring at the work extremely pleased.
“I could use some help if you want to stay around,” the doe said as she found a sunny spot to lay down on. Light foot joined her plopping on her back while leaning on Hazeline.
“Yea I kinda like it here, and I think I have something else that might interest you.”
