Makitsu are the Makogis that come from fox masks. They are cunning, smart, and love a good prank. Makitsu have a wide range of personalities. They can be good, evil, neutral, and anything in between. They form deep connections with their guardian. They will usually remain with their guardian their entire life, only opting to leave to join their mate once they find one. It is unusual if one chooses to leave their guardian before then but not unheard of. While friendship with another Makitsu or a different Makogis may take a while, they will end up as friends for life.

Makitsu like majority of the Makogis have magic that is tied to their alignment. As they grow older their magic grows and they learn how to cast illusions, summon will-o-wisps, and if they are capable of it even do some magic in an alignment close to theirs.

Makitsu, once they appear called by their mask, will appear as a young kit whose tail is beginning to split into two. As they grow older their tail will split eventually ending up with up to nine tails. Sometimes they just don't have enough magic or strength and end up with less tails but they find various ways to make up for their lack of magic or strength.

Makitsu are believed to be the first Makogis and are viewed as immortal. They're not really but they do have extremely long lifespans, living up to a century or two. If they live long enough and are powerful enough they can 'evolve' into a humanoid form and at that time are considered a fully grown Makogis and a true God/dess. As a note of how powerful a Makogis God/dess is: a one tailed God/dess is more powerful than a 9 tailed elder.

When an elder reaches the point to where they can become a god, their magic usually swells to a point where it changes them into the anthro form and rejuvenates them to a 'younger' body. However in exchange it makes it so even when they grow into the god adult stage that they can no longer breed. For reasons unknown their offerings and prayers for a child is no longer accepted. As such Gods are not able to breed as they were able to when they were younger. They can however go through a rebirthing process when at the end of their life or low on power to be reborn as a new mask.

Makitsu are omnivores and enjoy meat and vegetables. They can be some what picky eaters but it is more of an individual trait rather than a species one.

Makitsu like all Makogis are fiercely protective of their mask and their guardian. Once they appear as a kit they work with their guardian to make sure their mask is well hidden and secured so no harm can befall it. Makogis, no matter the species, are closely tied to their mask so if it is damaged in any way that damage will appear on them either by a direct injury, illness, or a weakening in magic/strength. If the mask is destroyed the Makogis will die.

Makitsu seem to prefer to form lifelong mates rather than loose connections and often are seen courting who they wish to spend their life with. Their courting can be presenting gifts, performing elaborate feats of magic, playing playful pranks. However if there is another suitor to their heart's desire they may choose to focus on making the opposing suitor look bad or play not-so-playful pranks on them in order to make the one they are courting look their way.

Due to Makitsu forming a deep connection with their mate they are family focused once they have settled down. No matter the gender they love to look after little kits and help teach them any knowledge they may know. When they are blessed with a mask they often go into hiding, with one parent guarding the mask at all times to protect it. The other will go out to find food or anything else that the one who is with the mask needs.
