Cybele stood at the base of the tree for a long time.

Every few seconds, from a few branches above, there was a very small, very scared sounding meow. If she looked up, she could see the glint of greenish light reflecting off of its eyes, and if she really looked she could see a bit of the outline of its body, even though it was a black cat and blended right into the shadows. It wasn't very big. It had to be getting cold.

"Here, kitty," she said for the fifteenth or twentieth time, her voice coming out as less of a croon now and more of a sigh. It wasn't going to just climb down and she knew it.

Mew.

Her lips pressed into a thin line as she looked up at the little thing. It wasn't more than ten feet up. I can do this, she thought. Her feet did not move.

She was a full Eternal and she stood frozen. If she even thought to hard about climbing up, the memories started crawling up her throat again, and her breath went shallow, and nothing else happened. That was why she stood there.

An aura in the distance caught her gave her something else to think about, and after only a moment she set out in that direction in a brisk walk, and as soon as it seemed like she was getting close, she called out, "Excuse me!" Hopefully whoever this was had a better head for heights than she did.

Cybele approached with a smile and a bit of a formal, introductory nod. The other senshi got a quick once over. Her outfit was very lovely, clearly aquatic looking, and sort of intricate, although by the aura Cybele could tell she was still a basic senshi. That was all right, although it would be nice if she wasn't completely new to all this.

"Yes, hello," she said, kicking herself mentally for forgetting something basic like a greeting. It wasn't exactly an emergency.

"It's nothing major," she said. "There's just a cat stuck in a tree back over there, and I don't think I can get it down on my own." Her cheeks might have flushedever so slightly, but the why was left unsaid for now.. She simply nodded her head back the way she had came. "Do you think you could help?"

Something relaxed in Cybele's shoulders when the other senshi agreed to go with her. It was such a simple thing, and yes, she should have been able to do it on her own, she knew that, but she couldn't, and so the help was very appreciated.

It wasn't a long walk to where the tree was. Thinking about how she was trying to make connections, Cybele said, "So, my name is Cybele. I'm the Senshi of the Hunt. It's really nice to meet you." She said it all with that same professional smile, but that was about all she got out before they were getting close.

It was a sort of hedge row of trees that was lining a path, so she had to stop for a moment and think to make sure she was looking at the right one, but soon enough she was standing at the base of one when she heard a small, very distinctive mew.

"It's this one," she said. "Do you think you can get it? I just, um," she looked to the ground, "Can't do heights at all."

"I know my powers," protested Cybele. She had the self control to not get huffy about it, but her smile faltered and the words came out a bit short. She'd earned her wings at this point. She led training, sometimes.

Although it was true that she could only stand there and watch as the basic senshi scaled the tree like it was nothing.

"I just can't seem to climb a building without something terrible happening," she said, deciding to leave it at that, because now was not the time to think of death or of smoke or of falling. At some point, she might be able to untangle the simple nerves from the things she'd seen, but for now it was a simple, quiet night with a possible new connection. That was all.

She glanced up. "Is the cat okay?"

Something deep inside Cybele pushed back hard at the idea of voluntarily climbing around. She found herself clenching her teeth just from watching Hypatia in the tree. The idea of finding some boy to scale buildings made the knot in her stomach tighten again. She clenched her fists at her sides and wanted to argue that it wasn't a confidence problem, either.

Logically, she knew that the other senshi had a point. It might be more complicated than she knew, but if Cybele wanted to break the cycle of nearly dying each time she went more than a few feet off the ground, it would probably be best to try it at some point when there wasn't an active emergency.

"True," was what she said in the end, with a tight smile. "That might be helpful. I'll take his contact information, if you have it." She could decide if she wanted to call him or not later on.

She relaxed the tiniest bit hearing that the cat wasn't hurt. "Good," she said. "Thank you for your help, by the way."

Cybele winced again when Hypatia dropped straight out of the tree, more for the cats sake than for anything else. Couldn't she tell that the poor thing was already scared? Still, it was the senshi who ended up worse for the wear, and Cybele turned from watching the cat skitter into the bushes when she saw a bit of blue light coming from Hypatia's direction.

She took a step towards her, eyes locked on her arm as the scratches vanished. "That looks useful," she said, her smile returning. "I don't think I've ever seen healing magic up close before. It's a bit rare, isn't it?"

She glanced quickly back to the bushes, but they were empty now. She'd have preferred to bring the cat in for microchip testing, but it probably was going to need some time to calm down before she could get close. She'd have time to chat, then.

"Are you all right now?"

Cybele watched, rapt, for a few more moments as she saw just how much the scratches reduced. She gave an approving nod, then squinted as she tried to think back.

"I see more subtle magic than direct attack or healing," she said. "Things that change people's emotions, or distract them, or make them stronger. For me, my basic magic is more or less a focus boost, and then my Eternal magic is an attack."

She rocked back on her heels. "I don't see too many healers, though." Her professional smile cracked a little wider, and for a moment her voice went almost soft. "You've got something special."

Cybele held up a loose fist and looked at it with what was almost a smirk. "Yes," she said. "Punching seems to work when problems need the direct approach."

She arched her back in a quick stretch. "Were you patrolling? I could come along, if that's all right. We could take that direct war to some of these youma."

It wouldn't be quite the same as say, the invasion of Negaspace, but Cybele wasn't quite sure she wanted a repeat of that anyway.
