Snow on the ground glistens under the moonlight and seems to illuminate everything with an ethereal glow. Destiny City feels almost safe, even at night. The fresh fallen snow seems undisturbed and brings a sense of peace. Only, there’s something eerie about it. After a while, it feels like someone--or something--is watching you. In the shadows of the trees, a set of milky eyes watches. Whatever it is, it’s tall and bulky. If you walk quickly, you feel it follow you but once you leave the line of trees, it disappears. If you try to approach it, a great beast will screech at you: a six-foot-tall snowy white owl takes flight. It may tackle or claw at you, depending on how you approach it, but it will always take flight and disappear in the night. If you choose to attack it, for the next few nights any time you look out your window you will see glowing eyes in the distance--or worse, hear it scratching to get in. Eventually, the temperature rises and the visits stop. For now. Acubens stepped out from the mirror and into the cold night and gathered the heavy black flannel petticoat around her legs. It wasn't enough of an addition to power her back down, but that combined with the peacoat that she tied around her torso kept the majority of the cold at bay. But it was mid-January and the sun had long-since set, so nothing could totally block out the chill of this wintery night. She shivered within her dark wrappings and set off for where she was to meet Kiuchi for the night. She had so much to tell him... she had shared a normal conversation with her estranged brother that morning, and was toying with the idea of proposing... so much was changing, and so for the better. A brother she had given up for dead was slowly coming around to understanding her. And she was slowly doing the same. She was falling further and further in love with Lavender every day, even when it was hard and the other woman made her want to scream. Her farmer's market was thriving, so much that she couldn't see herself doing anything else with her life. Everyone was setting all of these resolutions for making this year their year, but Rhona couldn't think of a single thing that she wanted more than what she already had. Rustling above her caught her attention, pulling her thoughts from everything that she had to share to whatever had caused it. It was too late for any native birds, even nocturnal ones. Straining her vision, all she could make out were the shadowy shapes of ether, her vision playing tricks on her when it found nothing but air to try and decipher. Slowly, she pulled her eyes away from the branches above her and trekked on, now powerfully aware of the presence that had caught her attention in the first place. That delirious mirth from before was swiftly being replaced with prickling paranoia, like when you turn the light in the basement off and have to race up the steps before whatever is down there gets you. Every step she took, the thing seemed to gain equal distance. But when she turned around... nothing. Until she whipped around in time to see two milky white eyes staring back at her. s**t.

While his uniform covered most of his skin, it really did a wonderful job of it, the fabric which made up his uniform was not of the warmest quality. It was still cold and the chill of mid-January did a fabulous job of sweeping right on through the fabric and chilling the male. That was why he always wore something over his uniform, or almost always, tonight he had a nice long puffy coat on in order to keep warm. Buttoned up to the neck there was little of his uniform showing - little of Kiuchi showing. Acubens would find him though, she always would.
Smiling at the thought of his friend he slipped one hand out of it's pocket confines and ran the tips of his fingers through his dark hair. Soon the lunar new year would be here and he hoped the package he'd just sent the day before would reach his family in China. He'd sent a big package to everyone, with gifts for each family member inside, it wasn't something he'd have done a year ago but this year was different. This year he had family and they cared about him, and he cared for them, he just wanted to see them smile and be happy. He wished he could visit...to spend an important holiday with them. But how could he? He was busy here and he had a life..and how safe was China even? he knew he'd be safe, he was certain his father would keep him safe, but there was that worry in the back of his mind. At some point he knew he'd need to go...to see his grandparents. He had to see them, at least once, before old age took them from him. He still couldn't believe his mother had cut such people out of her lives, her parents didn't understand it even when he'd tried to explain to them, he knew the hurt was still there and it made him dislike his mother even more. He still hoped she was well though..
Feeling the aura of a dark mirror senshi, an eternal, he hurried his way towards the aura. It had to be Acubens. No one else would likely be out in the park at this time at night on a cold evening like this one. At least not another eternal dark mirror, the odds just weren't' there.

Kiuchi's aura blinked to life at the edges of Acubens' senses and she made a beeline for him. All the while, the shadow with the pale eyes followed her, never more than a few feet behind her. By the time she got to Kiuchi she was out of breath and visibly shaken. Not that she was about to let on about anything. "Hey Kiuchi," she tried to chirp, though she was betrayed by a shake in her voice. "It's been a minute. Sorry I've been busy." She glanced behind her, where she could feel something watching, and caught a glimpse of the eyes behind her. "Look, love," she gasped, turning back around quickly, "I need you to be honest because Destiny City truly is vile around this time of year, but do you see... anything... behind me?" Please say yes. Acubens needed him to say yes. She didn't have a plan for if he said no. Check herself into a hospital probably. What else could she do? She was seeing things now. Maybe the war had driven her insane. Maybe it was the stress of her job, however much she loved it. Wait... what else was a delusion if the eyes weren't real? Had Misha really come back or was she seeing him too? No that was ridiculous. Was it? "You see it, right?"

"Acubens?" The question came past his lips as soon as he saw the other. Something was up, that much he was certain. "It has...it's been too long. But something is up." He said, already knowing something was going on. He wasn't much for cutting right to the point, not typically, but she looked in a rush of some sort and he doubted that was a good thing. It wasn't like Acubens typically and he didn't like it, it put him on alert.
"You see something?" He knew better than to doubt her, especially in this city, so the taller of the two eternals was moving forward as he pushed her gently behind his taller body. He wasn't much in a fight, not like Acubens anyway, but he was easier to hide behind at least.
With her behind him he took a moment to look around, carefully, for whatever she might have seen, A step or two forward were even taken before one was taken backward. "Something...there?" He questioned while pointing to where he was sure he saw milky sort of eyes watching them from high up.
"Is that what you mean?" Wanting to make sure he saw what she had seen, and not something else.

"Thank god, you see them too," she sighed before she thought. And while she didn't like the idea of Kiuxhi putting himself between her and a fight, she did take the time to recollect herself before stepping back out so that she could see the eyes again. "It's been following me for the last half of my trip here. I can't make out a shape, so there's no telling what that thing is, but if the eyes are any indication then it's huge." And the fact that it wasn't doing anything only made it that much more unsettling. Acubens wasn't one to shake easily, but not knowing what she was up against... or even if she was up against anything... was unnerving. She carefully took a step forward, still trying to make out a shape in the shadows with no success. "It's not... attacking. And it doesn't feel like a youma... what do you think?"
