Quote: The weather report called for snow, and a lot of it! Overnight, a foot of snow has covered Destiny City in a beautiful blanket of white, and schools and most businesses are closed! When you venture outside however, the air feels almost temperate, and picking up the snow is a lot like picking up some sun warmed sand at the beach. What might have caused this? Is it global warming playing some sort of trick, or just the imps that seem to linger in the city? The strangely warm snow day lasts for only a day though, by the next day, the air is bitterly cold again, and all of that wonderful snow is somehow gone without a trace! Duncan walked silently as he headed toward the photo shoot that he had been hired to do. He never really understood it, but for some reason they always liked to schedule summer photoshoots in the winter. Was it because they could stage it however they wanted? They wanted to torture the models? Duncan had all questions and no answers to such a ridiculous thing, but that is what they wanted, so that's what he was going to do. Freeze his butt off. Perhaps he would still have some butt left when summer came so that he wouldn't be too uncomfortable sitting for long periods of time when he lifeguarded. It was weird though. It should have been... colder? There was snow on the ground, it clearly was cold enough to create it, but there seemed to be no wind chill. It felt almost warm even! He wondered if he was in the process of starting frostbite and just couldn't tell how cold he really was.

After the first incident with the ice and his body freezing to, quite literally, ice, Landry was more than a little weary with heading back out into the snow. He avoided it in every manner he could, order groceries, getting couriers to deliver his assignments to class which was starting up again soon. Anything to avoid leaving his house.
And so far, it worked rather well!
He was cozy on his couch, in sweat pants and about three blankets draped across himself, when his sister came in, begging him to do her a favor.
I'm so sick... Lies, Landry could already tell by the smeared makeup and smell of alcohol on her breath. She was clearly hungover. Yet this time he did not blame his twin for such.... dishonesty. It was the holidays, and what better gift could he give her than the gift of forgiveness for her lies? That, and the favor she was asking for him.
It was nothing new, fill in for her during the photo shoot. And of course she had already talked to her manager about it and he agreed. Go figure she'd be completely planned for everything...
So now here he was, bundled up neatly and grumbling as he made his way to the designated studio.
Whoever decided a summer shot was the best in the cold, he clearly hated them for it.
Upon his arrival, he was rushed in, and told to wait a little... Apparently he was to have some partner, and the only other one here seemed to be some redhead...
"Well.. I suppose we'll be working together, won't we?" He asked, obviously bored out of his mind already.

Once Duncan had arrived at the shoot, which he really hoped would go super quickly so he could go back to being warm and inside, he saw only one other after he had arrived. Seemed he was shooting with a blond this time. Of course. He thought. Red and Blonde were perfect for summer clothing, he still wished they were shooting it at some other time though. He nodded. "Looks like it. I'm Duncan. Usually I just do these for some cash on the side, but they insisted this time. Hopefully they're paying us more than the usual since it's so cold out." If he was ever fired from one of these, he wouldn't really care. It was only a side job and he only did it because he had been approached a few times. Then he gained a small reputation and well, here he was. But if he were forced to leave it forever, then he wouldn't really care. Lifeguarding was his main job and he loved doing it. He just wished he lived somewhere it was warm all the time.

“Insisted, you say?” Landry didn’t believe a word of it. If anything, it seemed like a humble brag, something someone said to simply make themselves sound more important than they really were. Models were often like that in Destiny City. They were needed or someone’s first and only choice. It only earned a roll of his eyes.
“I’m not here by choice. It’s work, and pay, and I hope you can retain a level of professionalism that so far, you haven’t shown.” He knew very well he was being a snooty little posh brat right now, and that was the point. Especially given the outfits he was already shown he was going to wear before he left the house.
Who knew how uncomfortable that man would be by the time he would come out of the dressing room.
Before another word was said, an assistant came out to lead them to their respective dressing rooms, and the blonde stood up to cast a cold glance at his partner.
“I heard they were shooting outside in the snow, given the weather. Surely someone as dependable as you can handle the sudden change. Both in partners and in outerwear.” With a flip of his hair in the most obnoxious way possible, he disappeared around a curtain to get ready. And when he came out again, he was nearly unrecognizable as the man he was.
Extensions, high heels, a neatly cut dress that fit his slight curves well and hid the ones he lacked. If anyone looked at him for the first time, they would only see a tall, beautiful woman. Well, one who would be far more beautiful if he wasn’t wearing such a cold expression.

Duncan couldn't help but make a bit of a face and raise an eyebrow at the other model's hostile reaction. "All right, you're one of those then..." He said right after the other's "dependable" comment. He had just been trying to make small talk. He sighed. Now he really wanted to get this over with. It was bad enough having to pose in summer wear in the winter, but having to do it with someone who clearly didn't like him from the start... he wished he was at the indoor pool life-guarding right now. He changed into what they had given him and they fixed his hair so it wasn't as all-over-the-place as it usually was and looked a bit more like well, someone had fixed it up and clearly it wasn't windy. When he got out his partner was already out there. He admitted that they looked good. Then again, they were both here to model clothes, so looking beautiful was one of the basic requirements. He would have asked if his partner was ready to go but thought better of it. The other already seemed to have an attitude and he didn't want to exacerbate it further. He hoped that they would start the shooting quickly. Then he could go and take a few laps in the indoor pool.

If Landry's gaze was cold before, it perhaps grew even more icy when he was ushered into the studio much more quickly than he would have liked. Yes, he was good in heels, but no one looked good running in them, especially not with his somewhat long and occasionally awkward gait. He was partially ashamed of it...
Of course he couldn't walk as properly as he knew he could. He was wearing shoes far too small for him. It wasn't his fault that Lori had bailed!
And yet, he tried to hold himself with dignity and grace, and only the smallest of scowls.
The Scowl melted away though when he saw his partner. A good looking person always made the day a bit brighter.
"You cleaned up very nicely. I'm impressed."

"Uh, thank you." Duncan couldn't help but wonder if that was supposed to be a compliment at this point or sarcasm. After all, his modeling partner for the day appeared to want to be anywhere but here, and the last time Sumner had spoken to her she had gotten pissed at him. "You look good too." She did, though that was to be expected. After all, they didn't exactly go around hiring ugly people to model all that much. He heard them being called to start shooting and after having taken a moment to figure out where the voice was coming from, he turned back to his partner. "Guess they're ready now. You ready?" He asked, trying to give a good-luck smile to the other. After all, modeling was never easy, at least for Duncan even if he did it every so often, and if either of them were nervous it would make it that much harder. Kapoodles I did not mean to take this long to reply!

"Hm... Thank you." Landry never was one to turn down a compliment, even when they were obvious and common knowledge. No reason to be too upset over something that was most literally his job.
What Landry didn't understand was the reason for all this shouting. Did they think he was deaf? Or perhaps blind? Now that, that was annoying. But whoever this man was seemed pleasant enough once cleaned up, so he walked towards him, taking his arm and holding onto it.
"I suppose I am. I'm... Certain you'll be a great partner. Just don't worry about it and follow my lead, understand?"

Duncan blushed as his arm was grabbed and held onto. It didn't really matter who held onto it, he still wasn't quite used to people holding onto him unless he was trying to save them from drowning. Most of the time those people were unconscious though. "Uh... right. Sounds good." He kind of wished that the woman would let go of his arm. He felt like he was being held a bit hostage now and wasn't certain what to do in this situation that wouldn't seem rude. Should he try to casually move his arm away? Ask? Though the last time he had tried to say something nice before they had gotten "ready" he had gotten a thorough tongue-lashing and didn't want one again. This will be over soon enough Duncan and you can use that money for that new guitar... He thought to himself as he followed/was led to the shoot that they were supposed to do.

Why was this man blushing? One would think he had never held another persons' arm before. Not only that, they were to be photo partners. Why would one even be in this industry if they didn't like touching?
Whatever, it was none of his business, and just as quickly as he held that arm, the moment they made it onto the set, he let go, getting into position.
And, all things considered, it went smoothly. Photos taken, a few poses done, A few together, a few alone, and before either of them realized it, it was over.
Good.
"Hey Landry! Thanks for filling in for Lori! It would have been such a pain to fill her in after all of this... And so last minute!"
Landry shrugged himself. He cared little for it, but now that the work was done, he immediately took the wig he wore off, happy to let his scalp breathe again. "My sister is a pain, but she owes me. And.."
For a moment, he looked back over to Duncan, giving a small nod of approval. "The company was nice."

Duncan had to admit that he was quite surprised that the model he had assumed to be a woman was a man. From the sounds of it though, he was filling in his sister, and with how he looked, they must have looked quite a bit alike, if not identical except for a few... features. The photos were done though, and Duncan had managed to squash any nervousness that he had going in while doing the photos. Though he was still wondering if the other was going to yell at him at any second. He couldn't tell if "Landry" had just been annoyed in the beginning or if it was something else. He nodded back to the other when he saw the small nod. "Wasn't expecting it, but that didn't make it bad. And I enjoyed the shoot." He didn't mind posing with a male dressing as a female, but he did wonder how the pictures would turn out. And how photo-shopped they would be. Duncan still liked solo sessions better. No matter who the company was. "I wouldn't be against doing something like this again." He said while walking up to the other and holding out his hand for a shake. Though he could understand if the other didn't want to do it. "Thanks for being my modeling partner for today."

"I think I enjoyed it too. I apologize if I seemed cold in the beginning. Given the whole situation, " he gave a wave of his hand, addressing his clothing, "I was irritated. Not out of lack of confidence, mind you, but the fact that my sister abandoned her work and made me fill in."
He supposed that was a good reason to use a twin. She owed him one hell of a favor later too.
After a moment, he took Duncan's hand and gave it a firm, friendly shake. "You did very well today. Thank you. You should be proud of your work."

"Yeah, I can understand how that would be annoying." Duncan replied, giving the other a small smile. He didn't mind the hand shaking either. They had made a good modeling pair, even if he wasn't too used to working with another. Maybe he should do it more often! Well, until summer hit again at least. "Thank you too. It was enjoyable." At least once the other lost a bit of their cold demeanor. Though he could understand why Landy had been short-tempered with him at first. "Maybe we can model again sometime." He said, just as his phone went off and he sighed. It was the ringtone for the indoor pool that he watched during the winter. He was supposed to have the day off but if his phone was ringing, it meant multiple people skipped. At least the modeling job was done now. "Looks like I have to get going. But it was good to meet you today Landry."Kapoodles can end it with either your next or my next?

"It was a pleasure for me as well. It was an enjoyable experience, especially when you are as attractive as you are." It was a simple compliment, but a genuine one. Landry knew a thing or two about good looks, and Duncan had them.
But enough was enough, and home was calling his name, as well as a delicious serving of nachos.
"Be safe out there, Duncan. And I suppose I hope I'll see you again sometime. This time as Landry, and not as a Lori Stand-in."
SSBrosB And that's a tag-fin for me!
