 Hawberry poked his nose out of is little scrape burrow. The cold crisp air made it twitch. It felt like a day for adventure. So he would make it one! His kit hood had been spent listening to the stories of others, but now he wanted to bring back a story all his own. To become one of the Honored.
His father a slipped out some time ago, off chasing who knew what. The little lop was determined he'd manage a better story than him. The best story the Bough had heard! ... Well, maybe not for his first story, but he'd sure try!

Thornapple had been sunning himself in the cool air, taking advantage of this rain free day. The cool air was invigorating, and he was determined to enjoy it while it lasted. The cold weather seemed to be so fleeting. He was sure that soon enough it would be too hot for his tastes once more. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed his brother emerging from his burrow.
"Ho, Hawberry! What are you up to?" Lately Thornapple had had an itchy, nagging feeling. Listening to all these rabbits tell silly stories was just fine, but it was getting a bit old. There was a whole world out there, and surely there was something more to it than this? Rabbits jostling, trying to tell the biggest lie? Surely there must be somewhere that did more important things ... He hoped.

Hawberry bounded up to his brother, who seemed to be lounging in the winter sun. "Brother!" He leaped over him, seeing if he could get a rise out of him. Thornapple just didn't quite click with him. There was some sort of fundamental difference between them. It wasn't that Hawberry hated him, it just seemed like they had no shared interest. Thornapple even seemed to stick his nose up at the stories Hawberry loved!
After he landed his very well placed leap Hawberry let out a big sneeze, getting Thornapple's ruff a bit snotty. "Sorry brother! Been sneezing for days now." He swiped a paw across his face. Settling into a comfortable sunny position near his sibling, he regarding the other rabbit.
"You know Thornapple, I think it's time for me to set out. On a big adventure! Like the ones father goes on! I'm going to chase down a story all of my own! Maybe figure out why everyone is sneezing so much." He puffed out his chest, feeling more and more like this was an excellent idea.

Thornapple looked quite disgusted as he tried to shake snot off of his rough. "Thanks for that gift Hawberry." He let out a long sigh. Usual Hawberry. Loud, in your face. Thornapple pondered how they were even related. But then his ears perked up. A trip? Hmm ...
"You know Hawberry, that doesn't sound like a bad idea. Seeing what's going on with this sickness. It seems quite important actually. We might even be able to help some rabbits!"

Hawberry was totally taken a back. "YOU want to come???" He sneezed again, this time not onto his brother. He considered the idea. Neither had ever been out into the big world before ... Perhaps this was a good idea. And while he may not be close to Thornapple, he couldn't argue that perhaps having a travelling companion was a good idea.
"Now that I think about it, perhaps we should set out together. ... But you know what Thornapple, I think we should go as a troupe! Then we'll surely be able to discover the finest story!" Hawberry leapt into the air again, kicking his feet out. "And I know exactly who we should take with us!"
He dashed off, towards another scrape burrow near his. "MAHYTHORN!" He bellowed at the top of his lungs. "Get ready, we're going on an adventure!"

Maythorn poked his head out of his burrow as he heard his brother hollering. "An adventure?!?" He hopped out. "That sounds like a splendid idea! But where will we go?" This was exciting! Their first ever adventure! To collect stories!
But as soon as the cool air hit him, suddenly Maythorn didn't feel very well. He let out a long sneeze, and shuddered. His body suddenly felt so very heavy. "Maybe ... I'll ... catch up when I'm feeling better."

Thornapple had quietly followed Hawberry. Maythorn didn't look so great. Where Hawberry was sneezing, Maythorn looked rather ... grim. Thornapple glanced at his other brother. "Brother ... I may be important we discover the source of this illness. Maybe we can help Maythorn. He may need our help ..."
Thornapple was now determined. Maythorn wasn't a bad sort of fellow. He certainly didn't want anything to happen to him. Perhaps he and his brother could find something that would help.

Hawberry looked at Maythorn with concern. Normally they were a tight pair. They had similar life ambitions. And now he couldn't come on their grand adventure! He was being robbed of his own dream! That just wasn't right! "Maythorn, Thornapple and I will get to the bottom of this! We'll figure out what cruel illness has struck you down! We'll return with a treatment! And then we can all adventure out together!" He struck a valiant pose, interrupted by another snotty sneeze.
He looked over the Thornapple. "We should set out while it's still early in the day. I've heard that the illness came from the Sunset Acres. I think that should be our first stop."

Thornapple nodded. "I've heard the same. And I've heard there's a warren in the Acres that is friendly to outsiders. Maybe they'll be able to tell us more. Or direct us. Hopefully." Thornapple swallowed. It might not be so easy out there in the winter ... But his brother might need him! Certainly staying around the Bough wouldn't do anything helpful.
"Maythorn, make sure you eat. And drink. We'll be back as soon as we know how to help you. Surely other rabbits know more. We'll find them. We promise."
