Physical Description: Itzlel is about 6'4 with jet black,short hair that is kept neat. He weighs about 182 lbs, with a decent amount of muscles in all the right places. He has stormy grey eyes, that seem to hold the sadness of the world in them. He wears normal clothing, nothing too flashy, just durable and able to hold up to all they are put through.
Personality: Itzlel prides himself on being someone others can depend on, making sure never to break a promise he has made. Having been a trader before coming to High Reaches, he knew that people did more business with those who were reliable. In whatever he does, if he said he would do something, then he was going to do it. That seems to go hand in hand with his hard working nature, feeling he has to work hard to make sure he doesn't disappoint anyone. Even if it means putting in extra hours doing something, he will do so, just to make sure it is done properly and on time. No matter what he is doing, he gives it his all, knowing he has to.
Unfortunately, even if he is reliable, he is definitely not a people person. Ever since the fateful day that changed his life, he has preferred to be by himself. He doesn't like to socialize and getting close to him is not an easy task at all. His aloof personality is very off-putting to people, which is just the way he likes it. Not to mention, his pessimistic outlook on things can make getting close to others even harder. He sees the cup as half empty, nothing good lasts for very long in his eyes. Anyone you care about could be wiped out by disease or Thread. When everything seems to be going right, it is only a matter of time before something horrible happens. He is also very down about life in general, feeling like he just cannot have nice things. It is like a grey cloud of sadness is always hanging over his head, raining on him whenever he finds something to be happy about. That doesn't mean he can't work with others though, he knows that sometimes it is required. So he can do chores along side other candidates, without a problem, he just will not be close (unless it is someone who has managed to befriend him). Maybe he will learn someday that it is okay to have nice things, be close to others, and that he can be happy.
Since Itzlel lost so much in his life, he has had to learn to be independent, to take care of himself. He can do anything he wants by himself, he doesn't need any hand holding. Just tell him something once and show him what he needs to do and he can take it from there. He knows how to handle himself, not needing help from others. Though, if someone does manage to get close to him, he will protect them with everything he has. He hates seeing anyone hurting, even if he thinks hurt in the world is inevitable. So for those close or even for kids or others, he will do what he can to make them safe. If he can spare anyone what he has gone through, he will.

History: Life seemed to be perfect for Itzlel, being the eldest son of a pair of traders. Even though the family moved from place to place as his parents sold their goods, he really never had want of anything. He loved his three younger siblings and his parents very much, he wanted to be like his parents. So everything he could possibly learn from them on being a trader, he took in eagerly. He also helped watch over his siblings, making sure they stayed out of trouble when they were visiting one of the Weyrs on business.
Unfortunately, soon after Itzlel turned twelve turns old, his life took a drastic turn. His family had went to deliver some supplies to one of their customers in Bitra late that winter, just a month after Itzlel's nameday. Even if Bitra wasn't the best place, everything had gone without a hitch to begin with. At least until a drunk man approached, mistaking his father for someone who had cheated him out of his marks. It started out with just shouting, Itzlel's father telling the man he was mistaken. However, that turned into a duel, his father figuring it might get the man to back down if he won. Unfortunately, what his father didn't realize, was the man had a knife on him. The man stabbed Itzlel's dad and then ran off after doing the dirty deed, leaving the caravan to frantically try to save their friend. Unfortunately, Itzlel's dad died that day, leaving his family with one less member. Itzlel tried to stay strong for his mom and siblings, but it wasn't easy. However, the family was able to grieve together, as they continued their journey. And the rest of the caravan did all they could to support the family.
Young Itzlel didn't think life could get worse, but he was sadly mistaken. The caravan continued their travels, still having people who needed the supplies they delivered. Winter turned into spring and then summer, before autumn found the group in Keroon. They had stopped to have some dinner, unfortunately no one could predict what would happen next. Maybe they should have, considering how dry it had been that season, however an accidental fire was started. The caravan had been carrying some tinder and some flammable items, so the fire quickly spread through the camp and killed all that had been there (or so Itzlel thought). Itzlel and a few others had been away from camp at the time to grab some supplies. When they returned, Itzlel saw the destruction of the fire...the rest of his family and most of their friends gone (so it had seemed). He grieved for them and saved what items of their's he could, that managed to survive the fire.
The next turns found him traveling with those few people left from the group, helping them with all the trading that they still did. He didn't allow himself to get close to anyone but those few, not wanting to feel the pain of loss again. He had figured he would always be a trader, just like his parents before him. Little did he know that his life would change when he came face to face with a young search dragon. Seeing potential in him, he was offered a chance to come to High Reaches and become a candidate. At the urging of his group, he accepted and began his new life. He has only been there about a turn now, but he has put his all into being a reliable candidate.
Other: He carries with him some keepsakes that his family cherished. He also has recently learned that his mother and siblings actually survived the fire (learned after he impressed).
