Quote:
Snow on the ground glistens under the moonlight and seems to illuminate everything with an ethereal glow. Destiny City feels almost safe, even at night. The fresh fallen snow seems undisturbed and brings a sense of peace. Only, there’s something eerie about it. After a while, it feels like someone--or something--is watching you. In the shadows of the trees, a set of milky eyes watches. Whatever it is, it’s tall and bulky. If you walk quickly, you feel it follow you but once you leave the line of trees, it disappears. If you try to approach it, a great beast will screech at you: a six foot tall snowy white owl takes flight. It may tackle or claw at you, depending on how you approach it, but it will always take flight and disappear in the night. If you choose to attack it, for the next few nights any time you look out your window you will see glowing eyes in the distance--or worse, hear it scratching to get in. Eventually, the temperature rises and the visits stop. For now.
Her self-imposed duty continued this evening and while she had tried several times to pursue the wayward fowl, she'd been disappointed time and time again. Even with the aid of an Eternal they hadn't managed to catch it. Each time it had evaded her yet the red-head remained determined to keep it distracted. It was a new strategy that in previous festivities she hadn't thought to do, but if this creature was preoccupied with her own stalker-like inclinations, then it would have less time to pursue an innocent party.
After all the majority of these rumours regarding its existence stemmed from the fact that people were simply walking home. Those who had seen it, those who had heard it, those who had run from it hadn't been doing anything questionable or nefarious. For all intents and purposes normal lives had been led and a very not normal owl now sought to cause a little too much distress for her liking.
There was, of course, absolutely no point in calling the authorities regarding its existance either. Those in power would put it down to festival cheer and paranoia, something about the city always made it 'weird' during these periods... but when something was actually causing damage or harm Adorea was of the opinion that it still needed dealt with. If more than one person was 'hallucinating' a giant bird then it was probably safe to assume that there was actually a giant bloody bird!
Thus, the senshi was now perched precariously on a tree branch to provide herself with a reasonable vantage point. She was on the outer rim of the park where the sightings were most common. Any observant individual would be able to see her on approach, the trees had long lost their leaves and she didn't exactly have cover, but on winter evenings people more often than not walked with their heads down and their hands crushed deep into their pockets. More than one hunched form had already passed beneath her but so far the silent senshi had yet to catch sight of the tell-tale owl that stalked this forest.
She'd give it time though.
Eventually it would show up, it always did.
...It just needed to find the right prey first.
