The night is cool but not unbearably cold; somewhere, in the distance, a faint tune carries on the breeze. Whether you choose to follow it or not is up to you but the tune is vaguely familiar. Maybe you can place it, maybe you can’t, but it resonates with you and you find yourself full of emotion. If you choose to follow the music you wind up in an isolated lake in the park. It’s frozen over, but you see a figure skating across the ice, playing a violin. They will skate and play for as long as you watch, but at some point--between one blink and the next--they disappear, like a shadow on the wind. The tune echoes but fades quickly, leaving behind only a strange emptiness. The figure never communicates and never leaves the lake; they never stop playing but if anyone gets too close they simply disappear. The music seems to play on any night it snows in the park.

The park was typically full of people, that was why the Negaverse and others seemed to haunt the place, but with winter here not as many people filled the park. Even though it wasn’t all that cold out, last night had been colder, the park was nearly empty and that was fine by her. The senshi of vampires didn’t care to have a lynch mob of civilians after her, because she wasn’t doing a very good job of covering up her uniform. While part of her was indeed covered, because it was still winter, it was easy to tell what she was.
The park was, in some way, lovely in the winter. The bare branches all dusted in white snow and the ground covered in the same cold white magic, at least right now to her snow seemed magical. The air was still and peaceful without any sound, and she was ok with that, it just added to things.
As her heels took her deeper into the park a tune, some sort of music, filled the air. It wasn’t loud but rather it seemed light and fitting to the winterscape surrounding her. It wasn’t some cheerful sound but rather sad...lonely, as if someone needed a hug and was trying to say it through music. Following after the sound, and hoping she was going the right away, the dark haired senshi of vampires made her way through some trees before they parted and in front of her was the parks major lake - frozen over. She wasn’t surprised it was frozen over, it was cold tonight and had been for several nights, but what did surprise her was someone skating on the ice.
Why would anyone be out, alone, skating on the ice at this time of night? If the ice broke they’d go through and no one would be around to help them. What added to this was the violin in their hands that they were playing! They were the cause for the lonely music she heard but how unsafe was it? Despite her want to go out there, and possibly break her neck doing so, to get them to at least put the violin down she didn’t. The senshi of vampires found herself getting comfortable on the snow covered ground at the edge of the lake. Seated on her coat, which she’d worn open all night, Nephthys settled herself into listening to the ice skater play.
Why would someone be so sad? As the music seemed to indicate such a sadness...and maybe longing. Nephthys kept her blue eyes focused on them, and not just incase they got hurt, but it was honestly magical listening to them play and their skating seemed to go perfectly with the music.
As time continued, and Nephthys continued to watch, she was glad the skater seemed to have not noticed her. She didn’t want to bother them, least she stop there playing, it was like her own little private show and a single small period of time captured in the stillness of winter - it was perfect. It was beautiful in a way she couldn’t describe but felt, that’s all she could do was feel, and when she blinked some minutes into the show the performer was gone. Where they had gone she didn’t know, she got up in a hurry and went to see. The ice, as she got closer, seemed intact...so they hadn’t fallen in. But where were they then? There were no footsteps in the snow indicating they had gotten off the ice.
“Magic…” She whispered, coming to the conclusion rather quickly. While magic could be dangerous, and half the time was, she wasn’t in a hurry to leave and in fact was rather reluctant to. She didn’t want to break the magic which had fallen over the area; and yet it was broken.
As snow started to gently fall, a flake here and there landing on her hair and uniform, the dark haired senshi tilted her head up to watch. Blinking her eyes as flakes landed on her lashes and kissed her fair cheeks. The magic wasn’t gone...just dulled. The ballerina, as she considered the skater to herself, was gone but the music and it’s emotions were still felt by her. The snow fell and the stillness in the air was still there in all it’s peaceful glory. No, the magic wasn’t gone, just duller without it’s prima ballerina. “I wonder where she came from.” What sort of magic had brought her here and why; she hoped it wasn’t dangerous.
Lowering her head, a hand held out to catch the snowflakes as they fell, she turned and headed back the way she’d come. She would go to sleep tonight to visions of a lovely skater on ice, dressed all in white and dark blue material that seemed to just float about them as they moved. She would be lulled by the memory of their violins tune.
