About: Feathersong is a community of Stars who love to entertain and value peace and harmony above all else. While there may be minor squabbles or good-natured noisy nagging, generally every herd member works hard to be, at the very least, tolerant of all the others. The traveling troupe for the land stars does storytelling, dancing, musical instruments, and any other performance art that herd members want to do. The water herd all travels together and specializes in water acrobatics. The herd as a whole seeks alliances with herds who are willing to trade material goods and information in exchange for the entertainment they provide and the special crafts their artisans have made.
This herd is fully democratic and when there are decisions to be made everyone who has an opinion gathers and discusses until the herd is largely in agreement. This process is lengthy and requires a lot of conversation. Ideally the herd wants to be 80% in agreement, but when a disagreement lasts longer than a month the required majority is reduced to 60%, and after 3 months to 50%, for nothing of importance can be delayed indefinitely. In an emergency, the leaders may need to make a decision on behalf of the herd, and the normal process on what to do going forward will begin as soon as it is safe for the herd to set aside the temporary order.
Technically there is no species restriction in the herd; however, novas can only join the ocean branch, and there must be at least one leader who has Lyra lineage and wings at all times.
Any land-based Star can join the main herd and support the overall function of the community by staying in their home territory and keeping the herd running. The traveling troupe must all have wings in order to travel quickly enough to get to their destinations and then back home in time for winter.
The ocean branch needs forming and everything still but will be half-led by Chamila Cornovus Sondreas. She needs a mate.
Territory: Wooded and mountainous areas; ocean branch does not have a territory as they all wander the sea together in a nomadic fashion.
History: Formerly known as the Flock and led by Surusumi & Blade Ion. However, there was a huge attack on the herd from some of its former members and during the herd's internal war many members died or went missing. Surusumi lost Blade Ion & 3 of her children, and Raika has taken over to reform the herd and restore it to glory.

Leaders Leaders are largely responsible for being the face of the herd and are the diplomats in charge of interacting with other herds. If there were to be a war between herds, they would also lead battles. Otherwise, due to the democratic structure of Feathersong, they are simply equal members of the herd.

daughter of former leader Surusumi. She has taken over as in her heartbreak her mother has lost the will to lead. When her father Blade Ion went missing, her 3 siblings went missing with him, and the loss of all 4 shattered her mother once Surusumi finally gave up hope and accepted their absence. Raika is lifemated to Arundhati.
Arundhati is lifemated to Raika and is the co-leader of the herd. More info TBD when Snow's life has settled down somewhat & she has time and energy <3
Lorekeepers These Stars keep the verbal history of the herd and its beliefs, and spin the best tales when entertaining another herd. They also tell stories at the herd's own events, teach youngsters, welcome foals into the world, and perform rites for any Stars who may have died. Some travel with the herd and some stay put, depending on their preferences & the herd's needs.

Dancers Dancers love the art of grace and beauty, and sharing it with others through performance. They often have flowing outfits to accentuate their movements. Some dancers may perform without any music at all, or to the "music" they hear around them in their surroundings, but it is common to have one or more musicians to perform with.

Musicians Musicians may be singers or instrument players or both, and are a key component of entertaining troupes. Some musicians prefer to play alone and others are part of a group who performs together. Often, musicians will also form a group with one or more dancers to create an intricate performance sure to impress.

Loves to sing. Generally a solo singer but would pair with a dancer or group of dancers who felt moved by her songs.
Artisans Artisans have at least one craft which they are passionate about and good at. These Stars create goods which enhance the beauty of their home, but are also fantastic for trading with other herds they visit. Without tradeable goods, their herd would not be able to afford to travel as often as they do.

Traders Traders specialize in getting a good deal for the crafts the herd has brought to exchange. They also negotiate the base price for the herd's visit after the leaders have proposed a visit with a herd & the herd would like Feathersong to come and entertain. If there isn't any trading going on they also deliver messages and gifts between the herd and other Stars or herds.

Healers Healers...well, they heal xD They treat injuries and illness and act as midwives. Some will travel with the entertainers and some will stay home, depending on their individual preferences and the herd's needs.

Caretakers These Stars do not travel with the entertainers but instead stay at the herd's main home and keep everything running. Responsibilities and specialties include things like childcare, harvesting food for winter stockpiles, welcoming newcomers to the herd, and throwing celebrations to those departing (among many, many other things).

Willing to also help those who Grieve to try and move on even if she herself has trouble doing such.
