((Warning: this RP will get violent and very dark. It also involves NPCs that don't exist as pets, so don't worry about who these people are xDD [Shot]))

Click to show. For all Rhett's life, he had known, known in his heart, that Stars were basically good, that a person's first instincts to be kind and respectful and compassionate. For the most part, Rhett's experiences had reinforced that. People were basically decent. People were basically kind. People would instinctively help others, at least if it didn't mean going too far out of their way. When Rhett found someone in trouble, he helped them. When they needed a service, he would price it to something they could afford, even if that meant doing something for free. He ran messages this way, connecting families and friends to each other. He was proud of his work. It was what he was born to do. Cardinal birds were messengers, and he was a little cardinal, tweet, tweet, tweet!

So it had shocked him when he went to assist a mare in trouble and suddenly blacked out in a fog of pain. When he came to, his leg hurt badly, and someone had put something over his eyes so that he couldn't see. There was something thick and heavy wrapped around his neck, and he was being led along on a line. He was surrounded by other Stars. They sounded big. They smelled aggressive. Something was wrong. Something was seriously wrong, and the fact that his wings were bound and ropes had been tied between his ankles to prevent him from moving quickly only reinforced that. This was trouble. This was a lot of trouble, and he had no idea what to do.

They walked all day, and any attempt to make a noise was met with a heavy blow from a hoof or a tail (so probably a Solara in the mix). Eventually, Rhett stopped asking them who they were or where they were going, and just kept marching on. They didn't stop for water--well, his captors did, but they didn't let him drink. They didn't let him eat until they stopped for the night, at which point Rhett was so exhausted he stumbled to the ground. They still weren't untying him, or unbinding his eyes. What had he wandered into?!

He felt another Star leaning against him and froze. Who was that? Was it a captor? He didn't think so. They were sweating hard, trembling, and they smelled like fear. A fellow prisoner, then? Rhett waited until their captors were busy, then he whispered as quietly as he could to the other Star, "Hello? My name is Rhett. What's going on?"

But not these people.

For as long as he could remember, Xiang had just wanted to make people happy. He'd wanted to help them out, make them smile, make their day better. He wanted things to go well for people, even complete strangers. If there was anything he could do for another person, he would do it. Some people would call it codependency. Some people had called it codependency. But the way Xiang saw it, he was making the world a better place, and wasn't that a good thing? There was so much bad in this world--sickness, pain, loss--and he knew he couldn't end suffering. But he could make things easier for people. If he could counterbalance all that, even for a little bit, then he felt like he had fulfilled his purpose in life for another day.

So being tricked when he was just trying to help someone hurt a lot, and not just in his head where he'd been hit. When he woke up, he'd been hobbled, blindfolded, and had his tail tied to his leg. He'd never realized before how much he'd relied on his tail for balance. The first day had been totally miserable. These...brutes had taken his sleeves away and broken his lantern, and he had no idea where Blithe had gone, but he wouldn't put it past them to have crushed his loyal butterfly. By the end of the first week, Xiang was exhausted, thoroughly demoralized, and utterly terrified. It was almost a relief when his captors captured another Star.

Just considering it to be a relief made Xiang hate himself. It was not a relief. Another Star was in distress! But at least it meant that he wasn't totally alone...

Their captors didn't like them to talk much, but in the evenings they were a little more relaxed. When the other Star spoke to him Xiang leaned in close so that he didn't have to raise his voice, either. "Hi, Rhett. My name's Xiang. We've been captured by some really bad people. I think..." He hesitated. "I think we've been enslaved, Rhett. At least, that's what people here are saying..."

((Blithe is okay, btw. Just wanted to make a note of that.))
