With the Semester quickly coming to an end, Landry found himself swamped with Final projects. One of which was to take photographs for a company and then submit the final 'advertisements' made to the company and the professor to ensure quality and the grade.
Personally, Landry thought this assignment was useless to him. He already modeled with his sister, and half the time he was her personal photography, or at the very least, a guest photographer on set... Why in the world did he have to do the same assignment when his portfolio was already filled to the brim with work history and successful campaigns?! The professor did say something about... Having experience doing charitable works, but he gave plenty of money to charity, his time was much more of a hot commodity and not worth wasting.
And his professor seemed to know him well enough now, too, and countered that argument with a picture of a Veterinarian's Clinic, and a dozen potential animals he'd get to photograph. It was one of his few, true weaknesses. 'Precious Animals'. And grumbling, he accepted the offer.
Now he stood before this clinic, Bloom's Referrals, a rather... Chic place, all things considered. He couldn't say that the owner didn't have some sort of eyes for aesthetics, even if this place ultimately was for serious issues. Warm and inviting certainly helped ease customer's worries when they'd come in for emergencies... Hopefully it would continue to be that way.
A few pictures were snapped of the outside of the clinic and the surrounding area, before he stepped inside, hearing a bell ting as he did so. Alright, the owner received additional points for not having something annoying as the first thing he heard coming in.
"Good afternoon." He called out, trying to seem interested, but clearly struggling with it. "It's the photographer from Destiny University."
Whether or not the person could hear him was yet to be determined, so for now he walked up to the counter and snapped a few pictures of that as well. The more details the better, Landry figured.

A skeleton crew was the best that the new Bloom in the city had managed to muster. She'd returned home with a goal in mind, determined to set up her very own clinic after a considerable amount of work. She'd thrown a fair amount of investment behind it to but with all new ventures there were challenges and up-scaling as rapidly as she would like hadn't been on the cards just yet.
February Bloom, while a bit of a scatterbrain in her personal life, was a bit of perfectionist when it came to her work. In order to ensure that the animals in her care received the utmost service, she had taken the time to employ only the bare minimum of staff that met her standard at this current time. This didn't mean that she wasn't fully prepared to invest further, but she had a preference.
...The clinic needed to be running and functional before she hired even more people.
Thus, with her nurses busy with the animals who were now in her care, it was Ru herself that took note of the soft twinkle of the bell. At first only her shoes were visible, she'd opened the door to leave the staff-only work floor, only to promptly pop her head back inside to have a word (or several) with whoever lay beyond. Nevertheless, acutely aware that she did have a visitor to attend to it wasn't long before she had pushed herself away from the door and swept into the reception area.
She offered a warm smile as she caught sight of Landry, though given his lack of a patient she could only surmise that he must be -
"Are you the photographer?" she asked. She wasn't presumptuous, but there was a confidence in her voice which might have implied she'd put two and two together. Beyond that, she didn't say much more, there were no accusations of lateness as a time had never been agreed and given he'd been smart enough not to come during surgery hours, he hadn't disturbed anyone either.
Fluke or not, this particular photographer had come at just the right time!
She slipped her thumbs idly into the empty belt loops of her slacks and tilted her head to the side. She certainly had an easiness about her, though despite her work wear it wouldn't have taken a genius to work out that the interior's design likely came from some corner of this woman's mind.

There was a tiny, minuscule bit of snark on the tip of Landry's tongue at the woman's question, but he simply gave a professional smile. After all, the camera was right there in his hands, and his bag was right there on the counter.
And he announced himself as the photographer the moment he walked in.
Ah, either way, he wasn't here to judge, he was here to make sure the shop looked good for a grade. Not only was the grade on the line, so was his pride.
So he smiled politely and nodded at her question.
"That I am. Landry Croix, from Destiny University. It's a pleasure to meet you, Doctor Bloom, I assume?" The camera was still cradled in his hands, so he didn't reach out to offer her a hand shake. Him being here in the first place was plenty greeting enough.
"While I have a base line of what photos that should be taken, specifically of yourself, your staff, working with the animals, and the facilities on site, is there anything else you'd wish to have added to your website and advertisements?" Another quick glance around the office, then back at her gave him the impression that she was, in fact the one who decided the way this place looked.
Some how, it made Landry a little more at ease. He wasn't working with some tasteless old man who wouldn't know lighting if it beat him upside the head with a lampshade.

She saw that ever so slight tweak, but the smile quickly masked it and she chose to dismiss it. He might very well have introduced himself in the muffled greetings she'd heard from behind the door and as such, there was a high probability he had introduced himself already. Hell if she'd been a teenager she'd have had to fight hard to prevent a drawl from coming out and he wasn't much beyond that himself.
"Do you know what we do here?" she diverted her attention to his question and his interest in capturing other shots that she might have wanted. If she'd wanted something generic and easy then she could have taken them herself, frankly if he was going to be using this for his final project for the year then he might as well get something out of it as well.
"As in, not just the 'make animals feel better' and standard health care," she clarified before another hint of impishness threatened to rise up before her. "We're not really about generic, we're about thinking outside the box here so maybe park the easy stuff for me," she smiled and nodded for him to follow.
"If I wanted generic I'd probably be able to take them myself," she added. "Come on through and I'll give you an idea of what we get up to in here," she continued and moved to hold open the door.
"This project is for you after all, right?" she smirked. "I just get something useful out of it, but if you're going to spend half your time in here, we might as well make it worth your while and more to your tastes," she slipped through the doorway and into the backroom.
In a manner of speaking, it almost seemed like she might be giving him the creative freedom to show off her clinic in whatever way he thought would accurately convey it. Writing up details and testimonials were easy, conveying what was special took a different set of skills...

As she gave her pretty standard spiel about being different than other animal healthcare providers, Landry focused instead on his job, snapping pictures of what looked like something he'd want to see on a website or advertisement.
The comfort of the waiting area, the amenities provided, how neat and orderly the flow of the room was. Just little things that could provide an accurate representation of what you could expect upon your first visit. And when she lead him further in, he followed without thinking much.
Oh how badly he wanted to roll his eyes at her thoughts on generic pictures. Of course they where to be generic. Advertisements were like that. He couldn't exactly promise her the moon and the stars over a piece he had minimal interest in.
But, he didn't. A grade was a grade was a grade.
"Excuse me, miss." He stopped before following her further, a clear look of... something distasteful on his face. "You do understand that this is for Your shop, regardless of whether or not if fits my tastes. The ultimate goal is for your clinic to get it's name out there, and the message you wish to convey, not mine."

Ru cast a sidelong glance towards Landry and his remarks, evidently she'd drawn the short straw on this one. The boy just wanted his grade and in order to do that he had merely shown up, effort was clearly not in his vocabulary. She could appreciate that, there were some people in life that had neither a passion or flare for the creative and if he wanted to be a wedding photographer or paparazzi that caught all the questionable content then that was for him to decide.
"Not creative, got it," she rolled her eyes rather pointedly at that and slipped into the back rooms. "Next time I'll be specific about it and make sure they send someone with some flare," she mused, deliberately audible so that he had a moment to consider the fact that maybe clients did expect those with artistic capabilities to be a little more useful than just taking a picture that they could take themselves.
"But for now I'll take my generic shots and send you on your way, right?" She smirked as she walked passed the newly constructed bays, lined carefully in tile with fleece lined blankets throughout. There were a small number of animals inside, though she was thankful for this given that the process of upscaling was slow. Better to have enough nurses for the animals than too few and have them suffer as a result.
"Best not to waste time," she opened another door and motioned for him to follow, her smirk deepening as she peered at him. "Particularly mine."
"Ah, but since you have little interest in conveying my needs as a client you'll have no interest in the spiel of what we actually do here so," she waved her hand. "Let's get your tick box exercise out of the way, no?"
If he thought he had sass, he was about to discover that so did the little veterinarian.
But at least she could be polite about it, right?

"I think you have a grave misunderstanding behind what I meant, Ms Bloom. I may not like this place, I may not care much for you already, nor your nature, but that has little to do with why I am here, and what I asked." Landry refused to allow himself to be spoken to in such a manner, and refused to take another step further.
Assignment or not, he'd be damned if he'd let her thoughts tarnish his own already flourishing reputation.
Perhaps she was just ignorant, not knowing who he was. Landry Croix was not quite a household name, but his image could be seen in smaller stores around the city, as well as his name credited in local magazines for his photography.
There was no use in lecturing someone who clearly had no sense of the state of the city. Somewhere in the report he had read that this woman had only just returned to the city. Not that he cared.
... He supposed there was a reason why his dealings often meant he was paired up with his twin Lori instead of going up on his own. Her words began to agitate him, until he could take no more.
"I'd rather take the failing grade than have you insult my work in such a petty manner. Excuse me for failing to realize you have no thoughts of your own about what you want. My question was simple, was it not? What message do you want people who see these photographs to get? It's not a matter of you standing there, posing like some dolled up nonsense, you're selling something. A message, a meaning, a feeling. I do understand you have your needs, but you clearly don't want to say things out loud. I am not a mind reader, nor a magician. If you'd much rather have someone who is 'rambunctious' and 'has more creativity' to tell you exactly what to do, than be my guest." That temper of his was flaring up, hot and heavy, but he kept his face calm. But after a moment, he did begin to pack up his equipment.
"I'll have the professor send someone else over. And I'll deal with the 'failing grade' as you put it. But perhaps the next time you wish to be so flippantly naive in what you want, you can reconsider being so expectant to be hand fed a very simple answer." There was still rather firm certainty that he could put his portfolio before the Dean of his department and argue that this assignment was useless to him. He had spent years doing far more professional shoots than this one already. If they were trying to teach him to deal with people he did not stand, well, that was a lesson that would never sit well with him.
Landry hoisted the bag back onto his shoulder and turned, heading back towards the entrance of the clinic.
"Good day to you, Ms Bloom." Ah, what a shame... He really hoped he could see some cute animals..

He certainly knew what he wanted for life, but his arrogance wasn't going to do him any favours in the long run. She had no doubt he'd make himself a household name in the city, though it may not necessarily be the one he wanted. However when it came to internationally, he might find that he hit a brick wall, he wasn't the only d**k in the room at that point and as the junior, he'd have no place to speak his mind.
Nevertheless that wasn't her lesson to teach him and her expression remained neutral as he stood on his soap box and gave her a well practised lecture. It was better this way, best to let him say whatever it was he wanted. In the grand scheme of things someone without a heart, without compassion, and without the ability to keep an open mind for long enough to see what lay beyond the door was never going to have the ability to convey what she wanted anyway.
If he needed cold-blooded fashion, then hopefully he would find it.
"Miracles, Mr Croix," she clarified. "But there are people in this world that feel they don't need those and you might be one of them," she shook her head.
"I'll let the university know we won't be needing another photographer, unfortunately if your discipline is teaching this form of art, it will not do well here," she explained and opened the door further. "Good luck in your endeavours, I have no doubt you will excel elsewhere," she finished and with that she slipped back into the back office.
With work of her own to do the photographs would need to wait, it wasn't vital to have them now anyway and maybe, just maybe, there would be someone else who could find that magic for her at a later date.
Landry just wasn't the one, not this time anyway. Kapoodles Just going to officially close this out for you. xD
