As you head down a very familiar route that you frequent one night, you come across someone giving away free candy corn. Whether you love it or hate it, free is free and you decide to take it home, shoving it in your pocket to be forgotten. Eventually you head to bed, only to be woken up but a soft, high - pitched snarling sound near the foot of your bed. You sit up and find that the candy corn is splayed out across the floor, and among it, in the center of what seems to be a sacrificial circle… Is a knee high gremlin shaped like a candy corn. It sees you and bites you, before scampering away. Before you can catch it, it's disappeared. Sans the strange little bite on your leg, there's no evidence this was anything more than a dream, and by morning the marks are almost completely gone. The only lingering effect is an extreme need to consume sugar for the next twenty four hours.
Jacques hadn’t though anything of grabbing the candy corn. He had taken some after being pestered by whatever “salesman” was giving out the stuff, intending for it to be consumed by his mother or eaten. Either way, he was not going to eat a single bite of the disgusting honey shaped things they decided to call “corn” for some reason. He had put it in a bowl for his mother to take when he had gotten home and then immediately forgot about it, going up to work on another room layout that he had gotten an idea for.
It wasn’t long until he had to be going to bed as he wanted to get up early so that he could get to classes and get a pastry and drink on the way there. In the middle of it though, he had been awoken and had thrown a pillow in the direction of where the sound had been coming from, believing it to be his mother’s dog that had somehow snuck it’s way into his room again.
When he sat up to try to find the source, he noticed that the candy corn was spread on the ground and there was some kind of miniature monster in the shape of all of it within the circle or whatever it was. Before he could even react however it bit him and he yelped, allowing it to get away unscathed. He checked all of the rooms in the mansion before going to bed, making sure that the little monster wasn’t there anymore and that he might sleep in peace. If it was it would be dead. He threw the candy away and went back to sleep, luckily without being interrupted by some sort of weird candy corn-shaped being.
When he had gotten up however, he instantly felt the need to eat a few slices of cake and wash it down with some hot chocolate. He resisted part of the urge though, after all sugar with more sugar made it so that one couldn’t taste the second set of sugars, however when he was able to get out of the home, he had headed straight to the nearest café, ordering a large hot chocolate and pastry to go with, ignoring any strange looks that he got with the order and consumed it all before classes started. And at lunch he made sure to have something sugary with it, which was unlike him. It was honestly starting to make him feel a little sick at eating all of it, but his brain was continuously telling him that he needed to eat more. At dinner it was the same, as much as he tried to eat more of the healthier and not-sugar tasting food, the more he apparently had to compensate for the lack of the latter. Apparently, the weird little monster had cursed him somehow and if he wasn’t able to get over all of this soon, he would have to go in and see if someone in the Negaverse knew how to get rid of curses.
Luckily for him though it had disappeared by the next day and he no longer had a craving for the awful sweets. And he made sure to avoid them for the next day or few. When he did go by the same person giving out free candy corn, he made sure to knock all of the packets out of the person’s hands and stomp on them.
