Swamplands, she was only here for the wind. That was right, the wind had called her name agian. It felt nice on her fur and felt good on her feet. But then it always called her, so she wasn't sure what was different now.

Was it because she was in a pack now? That the running at night, while the rest of her pack was asleep, was more special? Or was it more free?

The wind flew in her ears, knocking around her earing as she ran, ran with it, never against it. That would anger the wind, which at times she thought could be her only friend.

That was idiotic though. How could the wind be her only friend? She had a pack, a mate, three cubs. A family. She loved it all, but she had never found what she wanted. What she needed.

She wasn't ever going to find it was she? No, she supposed not.

The winds were this lion's namesake after all. Kaskazi, the Monsoon. Monsoons were trecherous winds that carried with them horrible rains of a storm. They would master over everything else, causing chaos and havoc. Yet revealing a peaceful and scerene aftermath. Just as the weather of a monsoon was unpredictable, so was this lion.

He enjoyed feeling the cool silky movement of the winds against his growing mane. The scents of other creatures and lions filled the air, and he would close his eyes slowly, letting his nostrils flare. Inhaling those smells so deeply would help him realize exactly where they were - and usually instead of any sort of confrontation, he would avoid them. Although, he didnt usually enjoy being by himself, but others did not seem to understand him.

Those cloud white paws trampled atop the dampened grasses, mud seeped up between each bump of his pads. He let his eyes open slightly as he began to run again, enjoying the freedom that whisped all around him. The moment seemed to consume him as he kept running .. faster, and faster. He let himself be completely overwhelmed with the freedom, and suddenly -- SMACK.

He had made impact ... with something ....

Ouch. That had hurt.

Temari's body was thrown to the ground and crushed by the heavier girth of a silver and white lion. What did he weigh? Dear gods!

A low grown came from deep in Temari's throat and she tried to suck air into her abused lungs. His mane, which was how she knew it was a male, was stuck against her nose and she let out a yelp of unhappiness to bring him to his senses enough to get off of her. She wasn't an unhappy dog, but right now she was truly as unhappy as she could get.

"Um, would you mind very much getting off of me so I can breath?" She said in an almost motherly tone, keeping her trademark patience and politeness. But she really did want him to be quick about it.

It rather hurt after all.

A faint jingling sound rang within his ears as he quickly shook his head from left to right. That poor mane was ruffled and scuffed, and not only that, it seemed to be obstructing whatever he impacted! His eyes shot open, growing wide, as he moved his wobbling way off of the unknown creature. His paws were curled and crooked, even his tail was now spun into an odd-looking knot. This meeting definately had the poor, and formerly graceful mistweaver in shambles.

Finally, he moved his way off of her, a rather embarassed look flooded over his face. It was very uncharacteristic of Kaskazi to be clumsy, and it was especially more unheard of for him to do something so careless in front of anyone else. He bowed his head in a respectful manner, attempting to keep his calm, since this other creature seemed to be rather polite.

"My apologies.." His voice was low, yet smooth. It was calm just like the winds, yet effective and to the point. "I hope I did not cause you any harm." He seemed to almost whisper apologetically. His eyes lifted to move upon her, and his ears slowly began to bend downwards with regret.

Temari lifted herself out of the packed dirt slowly. No harm no foul right? Besides, she was perfectly fine. Well, her ribs hurt a bit, but otherwise she was fine.

Sitting on her golden haunches, she looked up at the rather imposing lion and smiled happily. He was rather large wasn't he?

But those ears flat worried her, so she stood on her hind paws and put one of her top paws on his shoulder, standing as tall as she could so she could lick at his ears until he put them back up again. He was a nice lion, fluffy, but nice.

Well, she had met only one lion before, a female. So Kika didn't have the same mane. Things were bound to be different.

Dropping back to her small and dainty paws, Temari nodded her head to him, her earing jangling loudly in he ear.

"It's perfectly alright, it's partly my fault as well after all. I wasn't watching where I was going either." She smiled at him with closed eyes, the most sincere smile she had for anyone.

This certianly wasn't the type of reaction, nor the type of treatment Kaskazi was used to receiving. People would much rather judge him for the brave markings upon his back and pelt, rather than judge what occured within him. This creature he liked, he could feel his heart lightening with every passing moment. She did have a rather motherly tone and aura to her, he could sense that immediately - and perhaps that is why he enjoyed her so. He could barely remember his mother, all that he could recall were the horrible moments when she met death.

So, this motherly and kind treatment was taken quite well to him. An almost purring sound could have been heard from deep within his chest, but muffled by his mane. It stopped as soon as she moved back, and he looked up to her with kind eyes. The glaze of the hunt was now washing away from them, and his true self seemed to come through - rather than be hidden.

The sounds of her jewelery were unusual, but still pleasing. He enjoyed their light, crisp tone within the air. He gave a gentle nod towards her as well, like a formal greeting.

"Again, I apologize." He said in the most sweet of tones. "I thank you for treating me so well. I am Kaskazi." He said with a slow, slight bow - but with the up most honor. "Kaskazi ... the Monsoon."

"Of course, who wouldn't treat you well, you're a very handsom lion after all. I love that marking on your spine and the color of your paws." Temari nodded her head happily. She knew markings, look at her after all, she was a splotchy nightmare.

"I'm Temari of the wind. It's nice to meet you Kaskazi the Monsoon." She leaned her head to the side, she had lost her memory in a monsoon, but she wouldn't bring that up. After all, he didn't need to hear that.

She looked around her, they were so close to the swamps right now. The sun was down, the wind was calling her, the air was cool. She wanted to keep running, but she wasn't going to leave. No, not until he wanted her to.

He was caught a little off guard by what she said, not because it was rude or anything unkind - not by any means, but it was becaues that was exactly what he thought he would never hear from someone else. He felt that he would be criticized .. not .. accepted.

His ears perked upwards, those darkened colored tattoos raising into the air as those ears curved and cupped, to listen to Temari better. "Temari ..." He spoke her name softly, letting the vowels roll off of his tongue and taste the air that passed through his maw. "Temari of the wind. Well, it certianly is an honor." He lowered his upper body towards the ground, letting his white chest puff against the muddy floor, although he didn't mind. He gained even more respect for her now that she referred to herself as a part of the winds, he knew how important the winds were.

He noticed how she glanced around, watching - as if waiting for something, or waiting to go somewhere. A cant of his head was given, so he could see in her direction, attempting to find what was catching her attention.

"If you don't mind.." His voice was gentle again. "If I accompany you to where you were headed?"

"Oh, It's an honor to meet you as well, Kaskazi." She liked that name. Kazi was very close to Kaze, the name for the wind. The name of what she came from. It made it nice, well, of course it was nice before, to talk to him.

His voice was so soft though that she had to p***k up her rather large ears so that she could hear him. The wind swirled into the light pink insides of her ears, filling them with the sound of his soft voice. A voice that actually matched the silver of his fur very well.

The more she looked at him, the more she liked what she looked at. He was a pleasent lion, his fur reminded her of looking at the silver moon. The darker marks on his back and face were the expanse of the sky, the whites were the stars.

What was that he said?

"Oh, I don't mind. Truly though, I wasn't headed in any direction, though in an hour or so I must return to my pack. For the most part I was just running with the wind. It was calling my name."

Her company was wonderful, sweet yet swift like the wind itself. There seemed to be a tie that now bound them, their fondness for the winds, and the way that seemed to go hand in hand with there lives. He could sense she had a profound amount of respect and understanding of the winds, and that made him smile a bit. She reminded him of himself when he was younger, in his more innocent of days. Those times where he would frolick happily amongst the lush greenery of the earth, letting the wind ruffle it's way against his face and swish at his tail.

At that moment he felt a large gust of wind throw itself against them, and he let his eyes close, while his mouth opened. The cool air filled his lungs happily, like a sweet sensation just for him. Her words registered slowly, as his mind was more focused on the breeze.

"Going where the wind takes you?" His eyes sparkled with excitement, as a deep and robust laughter eminated from within his throat. "Ah, Temari ... Then we were headed for the same place! Well, I shouldn't keep us idle for much longer. The wind calls our names!" With that, another gust rushed past them .. and he was off! His paws snapped against the ground, seeming to only press against the earth for mere seconds, while his body was immersed within the air. His run was fast, swift, and so care free. He knew Temari would be right behind him soon enough.

A brother from another mother? Maybe, but a brother at least in her heart. He was a lot like her, even if not physically. So she felt that she could relate to him in many ways. She felt comfortable around this lion, even if he was the first male she had ever seen.

Kaskazi the Monsoon.

Nice.

Her back paws dug down into the ground and within a few moments she was beside and almost past the larger lion, her body slightly more areo-dynamic. She was built for this after all, but she didn't want to pass him entirely. So she paced up with him and let her tongue hang out of her mouth slightly and felt the wind brush over her fur.

It was lifting her to the sky, to the horizon where she would fall to the air and float forever with the wind. Her destiny, the way she would always live.

Immersed in the air and the wind forever. If she was lucky Kaskazi might be with her. If not, she knew that she would find him. Somehow.

This time, like many others, he wished that vast wings would sprout from his back. He wished that they would thrust up towards the heavens, and catch the wings within their feathery embrace - then lift him up into the skies, so that he could glide about the earth. Perhaps then, he could be able to see everything forever, and be one with the wind. Maybe he could even meet the Gods of the Winds, and the Gods of the Storm. One day, that would happen .. but for now he attempted to move harder, and faster. He knew her small form meant she could move along past him, but he smiled to see that she tried to stay near.

The winds were excited today. He could sense it, he could smell and taste it. Large gusts attempted to stop them, while more seemed to push them along the way. The tendrills of his mane flew upwards and down, sometimes obstructing his view - but he knew where he was going. At least, hopefully this time, they wouldn't collide with anything else.

His form continued to bound along the earth until it became very murky. The swamplands were everywhere, and the mud pressed it's way between his paws, and flew into the air behind them as they ran. No matter where they were, they were running with the widn. This was true peace.

Temari cast glances at her running partner occasionally. To see that he was enjoying it. She could see from the look on his face that he was and her paws dug to the earth to push her body further, faster, longer. She wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of the night running along, if they kept up this pace of blurrying speed then nothing would ever catch them.

Nothing ever.

Her eyes closed and she kept her shoulder near his, to know that she wasn't just running randomly. As long as she could feel him there then she could run with her eyes closed.

Closed so she could feel the ground float away from her, so she could feel the stars meld with her body and pull her off of the ground and the grass, to take her up and throw her amid space.

The moon was deciding to play hide and seek behind the scattered clouds that hung loosely within the sky. It was almost as if that illuminating lovely figure was following the two creatures as they ran, accompanying them with some glimmering rays of light while they moved along with the winds.

As he felt himself become closer and closer with the breeze, he felt the other essences of nature smile down upon both of them. Even if his eyes closed now, he followed the bright feeling of the moon. It glittered a pathway along the moist patches of grass and dampened portions of muddy earth, creating an illustrious trail of pale silver moonlight.

This experience was more like a dream than actual reality. The cold whisps of air that moved across their bodies were not sharp or bitter, it was like a gentle coolness that encouraged their forms to continue. He opened his mouth wide as well, letting his tongue flicker in the wind, enjoying how the air felt against the back of his throat. It stiffened and almost felt as if he couldn't breathe, but he loved it.

He loved how that sweet freshness filled his lungs, and even constrained them slightly. But he would not trade this time for anything. Running with the moonlight with a newly acquired friend .. what could go wrong?

The moon looked like it was coming closer to her as she ran. The wind seemed to fly over her softly as her body floated over the ground.

The larger lion beside her ran so fast it was nearly as hard to see his legs as he flew. Her wings, though invisible they were, seemed to spread and she pushed her back legs into the ground and lengthened her strides out.

Her body flew past his as far as she could, running to the watery moon in front of her, her eyes filled with nothing but. It's love called her, it's pain felt hers, it's compassion melted her heart with it's own.

The moon may not have been living, but to her it was as alive as the wings that didn't exsist on her back, yet spread themselves anyway. It was... her soul.
