Saith, to those that knew her, was a girl that didn't at all mind waiting. She had a patience that could seemingly span eons, even if it was sometimes flavored with dry commentary. (Something that being around Raelin had only enforced and refined to an art.) In that patience however was a seed of perfectionism: Was this day just the right temperature? Had there been too many flights? Had she been noticed by this or that dragon recently? It had been building and building in her, though Saith had taken it far better than her poor sister Sahrawith had.

In fact, it was Sawi's example that had made her ignore her instincts even more for a while. Her best sister had seemed so sour after her flight...Saith couldn't possibly have risen so soon after in her concern. Sawi called them the forgotten clutch--maybe an overdramatic statement in the heat of the moment, knowing her, but it had stuck with Saith. After all, the double clutch had blown expectations out of the water in terms of numbers, aptitude, and ongoing training. Or, well, so Saith thought anyway. She wasn't one normally to bother with comparisons, perfectly happy with herself as she was, but the itch... Her thoughts kept drifting in and out of topics as she considered what might happen when she did rise. Would anyone follow? Would her choice leave her wanting more? Look how many others were attracting...

Raelin wasn't helping matters. Her rider had been in some sort of funk as of late, and Saith was at her wit's end trying to figure out what was going on. And then, one day, it simply came to her in a revelation: what Raelin needed was to get bent over a desk to blow some steam off, and if she wouldn't do it herself, Saith would have to make her. Surely scratching that itch for them both would unclog her system, or whatever it was going on. Focusing more on her rider made it easier to plan ahead.

And would you look at that: the perfect day did come at last: not too hot, not too cold, the ultimate autumn weather. While there were no clouds to be seen, a cooling breeze blew through the mountains. Raelin was just beginning to get her leathers on for the day's practice when Saith, in intensely self-satisfied tones, announced to the weyr, < I will be rising in approximately ten minutes! Please be ready to leave the weyr by then. >

Raelin paused and then continued to put on her leathers with a sigh.

< I would also be so pleased if you were to start sending your suitors to Mine, > Saith added. < Her weyr is here, and she has been incredibly lonely. >

Raelin froze. Did you just--

< I'd start getting ready, > Saith told her pleasantly before dropping off the ledge. She wanted to blood a small herdbeast, just a quick breakfast before the flight. Raelin didn't need to remind her to not indulge. She had done her waiting and wouldn't delay further!

ABOUT SAITH
A cool cucumber of a green who’s ready to be whatever is needed in any given situation, Saith is all about getting things just right, even if it takes time. While delicate in appearance, she has neither hard nor soft hearts and possesses a dry wit and an unshakeable demeanor—well, except that rising has made her more coquettish and moody. Considering she's been shiny for a while, her flirting game has been worked on. Trusts in others more than she should, but grows cold if promises are made and broken. Careful what you say in flightlust...

pros: Unshakable, Trusting, Reliable, Adaptable
cons: Overly Trusting, OCD, Scornful, Dry

ABOUT RAELIN
A b*****d child of a small hold lord who was all but pushed out when she began apprenticing as a healer. Raelin is a pessimist used to carrying herself with a certain armor against the world, though that doesn’t mean she doesn’t readily go out to meet it either; no sense in acting like she’s unique in her history and hiding away. Bitingly sarcastic and blunt, she’s an acquired taste for even close friends, but at least no-one can say she’s lazy. Saith has on more than one occasion remarked that her rider would prefer endless work over a partner, which the green hopes to remedy through flights. Secretly loves lurid romance novels as an escape fantasy, though she’d frantically deny it if caught. Currently a little lost about her place in the world, which has made her a little more passive-aggressive than usual.

pros: Dutiful, honest, sociable
cons: Sardonic, pessimistic, workaholic

THE TEA HAS STEEPED
Saith is a very particular green who’s even pickier given that it’s her maiden flight, and she’d like it to be something special for Hers and herself—namely, she wants the both of them to have partners by the end of it, and she expects quality suitors to show up at her plea. You know, the kinds that totally exist outside of the books her rider loves. She’s heard about them through Raelin all her young life and wants a taste of that sort of whirlwind romance tonight if she can get it. However, it’s entirely possible for chasers to not suit her rigid parameters for a winner and an NPC be chosen instead, and I’m testing this system out at the same time, so please bear with us...

GENERAL RULES
  • A winner will be chosen based off of two options:
    • 1) A suitor’s final score is within 5 of Saith’s. (ie. If her final score total is 35, a possible winner’s final tally can be from 30-40.) Those that match her final score > those that are only close.
    • 2) IC preference during the flight, which can ignore dice rolls and also may take into account past interactions; it’ll become obvious below that Saith has a type as well
  • There will be 4 rounds lasting about 2-3 days, or shorter if everyone gets a post in. Late entries can arrive after Saith starts round 1, but she’s not a fan of the tardy.
  • Posts that are rolled but not filled before the next round can only carry half the score rolled rounded down! They may also not benefit from the Wits bonus!
  • NPCs are fine if you have no-one to chase! All colors are welcome as well!
  • This will be my open flight for the year! (Aka this will occur outside of the weyr) This means weyrless dragons may participate if they happen to be in the area! She's not opposed to Westerners that happen to be there for work as well, although their riders will probably get the stink eye from other HR loyalists for doing so.
  • Despite appearances, Raelin is open to a partner. This is her first non-gold flight participation, so she’s a little sharper than usual with uncharacteristic nerves. Gender doesn’t matter! It’s also possible her choice (if any come forward) may in turn influence Saith’s.

- - -
SPECIAL RULES
Soaring too far ahead or falling too far behind in score? Let the Wits Bonus help you balance things out!

For Saith’s flight, the Wits score is its own pool of points that won’t be rolled from. Instead once per round as an option, chasers may choose to subtract from their Wits score to tweak their total. The points carry over between rounds, so be careful when and how they’re applied! For our purposes, Wits doesn’t necessarily mean intelligence, but inventiveness! A clever turn of phrase, a flashy aerial move, snapping at the lead, flexing noticeably, it’s all about what the chaser does to stand out!

Fear not about spending the bonus either, as Saith turns a kind eye to those that put forth the effort and will restore at least a few points based on what is roleplayed. Points can’t go higher than their max when restored. Alternatively she also has the power to ignore or revoke the bonus, but it’s hard to make her angry at even the worst of gaffs, so this probably won’t happen.

EXAMPLES
  • NPC Azureth has a 10 in Wits. Saith rolls a 7 in Round 1, but he rolls an 18. Azureth decides to sing a song for his bonus and applies all 10 of his Wits points, bringing his new total to a more comfortable 8. He has no points moving forward, but Saith might give him some next round depending on if she liked the song.

  • NPC Verdanth started with an 11 in Wits but has only 8 available for this round. Saith’s total is currently 23. Verdanth’s current total is 22, but she chooses to add 1 to keep the same score moving forward by zigzagging right between several bigger dragons, leaving her with 7 Wits points. In the next round, Saith awards her 5 bonus points back for her daring and agility, but Verdanth’s Wits pool only goes back up to 11, not 12.

  • NPC Tanneth thinks he’s got the best joke ever heard and shares it while adding 5 Wits points. Saith doesn’t get it, however, and negates his bonus points applied. He subtracts the 5 from his score and does not get any bonus Wits back this round.

Sign Ups Will Continue through 1st Round, which will begin sometime Tuesday Evening!

Araskara of Blue Chuulnath

Chuulnath trumpeted, startling Araskara from where they were mending a torn shirt. They almost stabbed themselves with the needle, and with wide eyes, they looked up to their blue dragon, questions written on their face. What...?

Explainlatergottagonow! The blue jumped to his feet and jumped into the air, opening his wings to catch his fall. He glided over to where Saith was blooding, watching her carefully as he landed, to wait with her. The young blue vibrated with excitement--no, he was literally bouncing on his feet. I got here as fast as I could. You care about being on time, right? The blue cocked his head to the side, in slightly less of a rush now that he'd found her. He shifted on his feet, though, anxious to get started--he lacked the patience of the green he hoped to chase. Timeliness didn't matter much to him, but it mattered to Saith, so timely he would be. Ten minutes, of course!

You are lovely. I can't wait to take to the skies with you, he added, crooning. There was no intention behind that, no hope to win her with words. The idea that his words could impact his success wasn't a thought that occurred to him, and if it did, he'd think it ridiculous. Let his actions, let his speed, let it all speak for itself.

Araskara, for their part, sighed softly and put down their handiwork. They cast a quick glance at the sewing materials, before carefully putting them away. They were in no rush, unlike their blue. They didn't dread flights, of course--far from it!--but they could be awkward affairs for a rider, now, couldn't they be? Still, they made their way to Raelin's weyr, and upon arriving, they paused just outside the door. They gave a knock on the frame to alert her to their arrival, before entering. They gave her--and any others--a tired, nervous smile, and nodded their head in greeting.

"Ah...hello."

------------

Araskara is nonbinary and in their mid to late twenties. They're scatterbrained, and despite having a responsible sort of personality, they're prone to forgetting what they were supposed to do or how to do it. They want to be responsible, they really do, but they balk when given control. They'd much rather someone else take charge, and they have no backbone at all. Modest and humble, they are just a little...disorganized. They mean well, but are exceptionally clumsy. Socially, they're awkward, but they're not the bumbling idiot that so many seem to think they are--just kind and forgetful. They are extremely passive but always have a sweet, if not weary, smile on their face.

Chuulnath is a few turns old but as bold as if he were just hatched. He isn't well-versed in tact or humility, unlike his rider. He means well, though! A wild-child in a way, this blue is very impulsive. It often wins out over his intelligence, leaving him to make careless mistakes. He's very quick, but haste makes waste! He has a lot of energy and lives to please, but tends to lose interest in tasks easily. A mobile, sensory dragon, he is always moving and seeking thrills.

Note: I may not be able to keep up! We'll see, but I intend on trying!

Faranie of Blue Samedith

User Image

She had watched as green after green after green rose, and their first Threadfall... Still Samedith had shown no interest in joining. Didn't seem to be interested in any dragon no matter their color. He was old enough to chase, had been for several months now, and yet... nothing. Weren't chromatics supposed to rise and chase more frequently then Hers did. It was one of the up sides to riding them.

At least that was one of the things she had told herself when the sting of not Impressing a metallic bit. Which, to be honest really didn't occur any more. Samedith might not be a queen, but He was hers. And he was perfect.

She had been good ever since the Impression, not wanting to cause any harm to her beloved Soulmate. There was nothing she wouldn't do for him. Just as there was nothing he wouldn't do for her.

So this time, when she saw the shining green getting ready to take to the sky... well, enough was enough. She had been good long enough, and as she was recently reminded life was too short, and you should enjoy it while it lasted.

Dear Heart, life is too short. You should go. Spread your wings and conquer the sky! Faranie checked his leathers. Even if he didn't manage to catch her, perhaps she might manage to find a partner and have a good time. The green who rises is lovely, and I as much as you, need to unwind. So let's join the party!

Eyes whirled a thoughtful blue green as he considered. Perhaps..., he drawled thoughtfully. While not of the metallic hue that tended to catch his eye, the rising green was of lovely colors and proportions... not as flashy as some, but lovely enough. Her rider's weyr is just there... Shall I drop you off?

Yes, Dear Heart. But don't be late. She seems to be rather a stickler for punctuality. You don't want to start off on a bad note. She ran a tender hand along his neck as she dismounted. He refused to dignify her comment with a response. She watched as he took off again, taking a breath, and preparing to join the other riders in the rising green's rider's weyr.

Perhaps this wasn't his choice initially, perhaps it took Faranie to open his eyes, but he would not join in if it wasn't something he wanted. And as he landed at the pens near the other blue who seemed to be there for the green, he nodded a greeting. He wasn't there to make small talk. He was there to tear up the sky. To fly and to catch.

Faranie: 29 turns old, on the shorter side she is 5'7”, this icy beauty who was once waspish, harsh and with the tongue to match has mellowed out somewhat since she Impressed. Less harsh she still isn't exactly the most friendly, but she isn't here to make friends, she is here for a good time, whether it is with the rider of the green who is rising or someone else. Male, female or otherwise, she doesn't discriminate. Though the good time is her goal, she treats her bedmate (s) well, whether it is just for one night or more... Her more negative traits won't be overly on display.

Pros: Intelligent, Adroit, Ambitious
Cons: Vindictive, Manipulative, Cruel

Samedith: Just shy of one turn, a member of the much talked about double clutch. Though he hasn't been overly eager to chase, the recent Blooding has shown him the dangers of their life, the fact that he is mortal, and life is too short to be focused completely upon His goals to the exclusion of all else. Though it was His that gave him a kick of the ledge, so to speak, he isn't not interested. And since it is a competition of sorts, he is determined to do his best, to 'win' if he can. And if he doesn't catch Saith, he is open to finding a partner in one of the other chasers...

Pros: Smooth, Persuasive, Powerful, Intelligent
Cons: Power hungry, Duplicitous, Scheming, Smug

NPC Merope & Lajoth(He's gonna be a real boy soon)

User Image

It seemed that either all the greens of High Reaches enjoyed rising consistently or the clutch that both the last green and this one had come from had decided recently that it was just 'time'. Either way Lajoth was curious when he heard the very calm request for chasers to be ready and his head popped up from the water where he'd been drinking. Rivers of it ran off his headknobs and down his neck as he sprang into the air and rebuffed his rider's confused grumbles.

At least it wasn't as hot as it had been when the last chase had happened, but Merope had things that she'd been working on and this was once again a younger dragon. The woman sighed and for just a moment had a flash of memory with the two from last time before she dropped onto her bed.

Content that his rider wasn't going to fight him this time, Lajoth hopped up and followed a pair of other blue tails over to watch Saith blood before rising, purples and blues dancing in his eyes with joy. She was a very pretty green but her request for his rider to head towards hers, he wasn't certain that he could get His to even do that, she was stubborn at the best of times and being older than the younger riders often made her awkward about this. Still, he hopped a little bit before settling his wings. I'll try to send her that way sweet green, we'll see how she agrees. But to the sky I'll chase you, as far as you like.

---

Lajoth: A flighty and playful blue, he balances out his rather gruff rider with sheer sunshine. But sometimes it's... a bit much. Given his nomadic lifestyle before he never really got much opportunity to chase so he's rather new to it, his first chase at High Reaches had him losing but winning all at once and has upped his desire to try again.

Merope: In another Pern she might have been playful and sweet, but after turns and turns of freedom she was suddenly tied down to a Weyr by her beloved dragon who felt the need to fight. She hates fighting and it's turned her more than a little bitter and grouchy.

M'yk and Brown Dobrokhoth
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

For all that Dobrokhoth was always up for a bit of fun, there were some types of fun he was a bit particular about; perhaps his rider had rubbed off on him a little, over time.  When he'd first come of age, he'd been quite enthusiastic about Flights, but as the Turns passed he'd settled into being more of an occasional participant than a regular one.  It was an indulgence he allowed himself here and there, once or twice a Turn perhaps, but more recently he'd abstained for a longer stretch than usual.  After his unsuccessful participation in the second Flight preceding the double clutch, he'd simply not been all that interested.  He'd brooded over the result for quite some time - unaffiliated trash, how dare! - but even once the sulking had passed, no one had caught his eye.

One now and then would be tempting, but no, none of them were quite right.  Not that the instincts weren't there, but instinct alone wasn't motivation enough.  Over the last several months, even his rider had started needling at him now and then, tired of the pickiness and frustration he was being forced to share headspace with.  However stressful M'yk found Flights, he'd take a raging headache over perpetual brooding.  But Dobrokhoth still waited, until finally...

That one.  Of course!  He heard her call and trumpeted in answer from his ledge, wings flaring out wide. Friend Saith! Somewhere along the line 'Friend' had become her official title, like 'Miss' or 'Lady,' but this time, there was more than just respect or friendly affection in it, because she was magnificent.  So glowing!  So elegant!  And oh, so full of so many traits he admired.  Yes, she was just perfect.  So he pushed off from his ledge and glided down, landing close-but-not-too-close, and watched with keen purple eyes. I am here!  I would never dream of being late.  For you, only right on time.

If any dragons not of High Reaches happened to make themselves known, they would find themselves hissed and mantled at by the brown.  In the meantime, he relayed certain specifics from Saith to His, finding smug delight in the fact that he was currently leaning heavily against a hallway wall, swearing under his breath.

Sometimes I really hate you, you know.

You're not allowed to be grumpy, you wanted me to do this!

But did it have to be this one?

Yes!  Now go see Saith's, she is lonely!

"Yeah, because that's not awkward at all," he muttered, and kept himself plastered right where he was.

_________

Dobrokhoth: A good, solid brown willing to take on any task set before him, no matter how difficult or unglamorous it might be.  He takes his duties as a dragon of High Reaches very seriously, and has no tolerance for those who don't.  Extremely distrustful of outsiders, particularly the weyrless, but once someone has chosen High Reaches and earned their place through hard work, he settles down and accepts them right alongside the natives.  If he doesn't like someone, whether they're an outsider or just lazy, he will prank and harass them, but if you're his friend, he's a blast to be around.
Pros: stalwart, clever, both hardworking and fun-loving
Cons: xenophobic, judgemental, prankster

M'yk: As consistent and dependable as they come, M'yk is basically a walking brownrider stereotype (and a very nicely muscled one, at that).  He works hard, but without the drive of ambition to motivate him - he just wants to do his job and do it well, because that's what needs to be done.  Conservative with a heavy lean towards traditional, but not an extremist or full-on colorist.  While his holdbound values have been slowly slipping since he Impressed, there are a few he hasn't quite let go of yet.  Usually tries to resist Flight shenanigans, but sometimes loses.
Pros: reliable, hardworking, content
Cons: conservative, judgemental, unambitious

NPC E'ran of Brown Haphoth
User Image
Plenty of greens rose every week around here, but Saith was more interesting than most. Precise. Dutiful, at least from what Haphoth had seen. It had been some time since he had sought another dragon's company, but as the brown glanced in the direction of her ledge and a swirl of violet darkened his sky blue eyes, he decided that today might be the day to change that.

E'ran, dear? Haphoth pushed his burgeoning lust through their bond, snorting softly when his rider nearly tore the shirt he was pulling over his head. Would you be so kind as to present yourself to Saith's? For me? Before he had fully finished voicing his request, the dragon dropped from his perch and winged his way toward the green's growing audience. He remained in the air, circling the group from above.

E'ran considered ignoring Haphoth, but in the end he gave in, knowing it was a losing battle. He burst from his weyr, shoulder-checking a tall, muscley woman as he stalked past. The second rider he nudged shoved him in turn, and a brief tussle later, E'ran's arm was pinned high against his back and his cheek was pressed hard into the rock wall. He hadn't made it very far at all, but he was on his way.

    Quote:
the rider | ALL EYES ON E'RAN! he craves your attention, positive or negative, and hates himself a little more than he probably should. it's a good thing he's a hard worker!
      quick-witted, courageous, acerbic, attention-hungry

the dragon | outwardly cheery, haphoth lives to dissect humans and dragons alike and learn how to move them where he pleases. he doesn't steer people often; the knowledge that he can do so is enough. the only exception is e'ran, who the brown goads and prods near incessantly. out of love, of course.
      confident, clever, scheming, vindictive

Oh, now this was lovely~ To finally give in to the rush of energy, want, and need, but to keep it in a controlled way so she did not lose herself entirely~ Not yet, at least. To feel bodies gathering while she fed ever so delicately...Lovely, lovely, lovely~

Her eyes whirled a merry blue as the first dragon arrived. Chuulnath was young and eager and fast, which she could appreciate. < Punctuality is so very important, you know, > she told him as she fed. Oh, and he even bounced on his claws, how precious! < It shows your interest and respect for the holder of the event, for which I'm grateful. You seem very prepared, Chuulnath, but we will see if you've prepared enough! >

As she licked her lips, Samedith arrived. Her interest piqued at his silence, knowing the hatchling (for the double clutch was still such to her even though they were bound for graduation soon) had a way with words. Was he considering them, or was he simply waiting? There were rumors that this blue had his eyes on the much shinier hides of the weyr after all... < I wonder what might have brought you here, Samedith, > she said to him lightly, her look turning sidelong as she returned to the herdbeast. < Are you interested? Or perhaps you seek practice before the real flights begin, hm? >

She shouldn't be thinking so or pushing at potential suitors...Shardit, Raelin's mood was leaking into hers, much as the green tried to force it back. Saith tried to shake it off as another blue arrived.

< How wonderful of you to rise to the request, Lajoth, > she said to him, her eyes whirling happily again. < Humans don't have something so convenient as a flight, and so some need just a little push~ I'm sure Yours would be a lovely partner if Mine would just open up. >

At the words Friend Saith, her spirits rose even more. Not that there was anything wrong with having these wonderful blues following her, but it was soothing to know at least one of the faces that would be there. Saith would have been just a touch upset if Dobrokoth hadn't appeared after all of their bonding across the turn, though she would never say as much. She was polite. < Just a friend? > she asked teasingly nonetheless, because her mood required it, and because she enjoyed the way he said it. < I wonder~ Please keep your comport if other dragons join, my sweet. > It was clear what she meant by other, knowing Dob's...less than pleasant reactions about outsiders. < I was once not of High Reaches, too. >

The sound of wingbeats above drew her attention to another brown as she finished her blooding. One eye watched as she cleaned herself--her body hummed and glowed and demanded she move, but Saith was not about to dive into her maiden flight sullied. On their brief allowances on beach trips, she had heard of dolphins circling schools of fish, herding them as canines did herdbeasts before picking out their meals. She wondered if Haphoth was thinking similarly.

< Thank you very much, my dears, I think we've all waited enough, > she projected to them all. < This is my first, so do be gentle~ Shall we? >

And with a wink and a burst of sudden speed, the green took to the air and darted beyond the weyr's walls.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Raelin felt sick. Or the trappings of sick anyway. A thin layer of sweat broke out across her palms as Saith took off, and it really sank in that she was going to have to nurse that headache. Or if she really got desperate, she supposed she could just take out one of her better novels and handle it herself--

Someone knocked.

Then it hit her in a second wave that someone might actually be interested. Maybe only in that compelling way flightlust gave, but nonetheless.

This is stupid, she told herself furiously. What am I scared of? This is literally what all greenflights are like. You didn't care during Fianth's.

Yes,
she argued back, well, goldflights don't exactly let you think too hard about it.

Raelin rigidly jumped up from the bed like it was on fire, eyeing Araskara warily. They didn't seem like they were going to go feral on her. Yet. Saith was telling her to relax, but she just couldn't. "Why don't you wait outside," she said with a gesture, glancing beyond them into the stony hall for whoever else might decide to show up. It didn't sound like a request.

I would put forth that there is no such thing as 'just' a friend, dearest Saith.  There is a great value in true friendship such as ours, is there not? He watched with rapt attention as she finished her work and cleaned herself, and flared out his wings in preparation for what was surely very soon to come. A treasure it is indeed, just as you are. Her request was met with a restless, disquieted shifting of weight from foot to foot, a hint of yellow in his gaze that was quickly soothed away to violet at being called her sweet. If that is your wish, then I will of course abide by it, and do only as you would permit.

A dip of his posture and wings, an approximation of a bow as he made his promise.  She was off then, and he was quick to follow, springing from the ground to make his pursuit. Gentleness you shall have, and all else that you request.

Speaking of, a certain someone was as stubborn as ever, a someone he was often too gentle with in many matters.  He grew weary of coddling him so, for while it might be to his comfort, it was not ultimately to his benefit.  Enough. Move, Mine.  You ever wish to do what is needed of you, do you not?  So do it.  Go. Dobrokhoth let loose all his feelings and desires, shared without further thought to sparing him.

He was slightly ahead of her, having already been in the air, and as Saith finished grooming herself and took off, Haphoth made his best guess as to her trajectory and headed in that direction with strong strokes of his wings. She was much more than a herdbeast or a fish, but her suitors... well... at the very least he wanted to know what he was up against.

Your mind is meticulous perfection, Saith. Forgive me for not lavishing the attention you deserve upon you before this. He gave her a coquettish mental brush, the draconic equivalent of a kiss to the back of her hand. I can be gentle, I can put on a show, whatever you wish.

Araskara of Blue Chuulnath
Chuulnath was hardly the most predictable in terms of when he showed up--or if he showed up at all--but his eagerness to please had not gone unnoticed. The blue beamed at Saith's praise, puffing out his chest. Still, he had little more to say as the other dragons arrived, and took off after her with a burst of energy. Speed was the name of the game, then! He'd do his best to keep up--and he knew he could do it.

"Oh, so sorry," Araskara gave an awkward smile as they shimmied out of the doorway, until they were a respectable distance, not just from Raelin, but from the door itself. They didn't mean to intrude, after all. They ducked their head a bit sheepishly, their soft voice nonetheless remaining steady.

She was taking her time to reach out to each of her chasers and the brush at his mind, plus the little burst of confidence for his rider, Lajoth's eyes whirl happily. Yes, he was older and had been a rogue for a bit, hadn't really chased much and never won, but the interest was a joy to receive all the same. I will do my best to roust her, so that she can have a merry chase as this herself. His tail thumped the ground lightly for a moment and he watched her attention turn.

Still, he held his attention rapt upon the little green. She had so many suitors and all he could do was his best to be a good one, though he did add a prod and push to Merope where she lay on her bed, a frown passing between their bond.

Laughing happily, the blue jolted into the sky, letting his wings speed him along after Saith.

Rh'tyb and Green Alluith

High Reaches was known to hide away its precious gems, and it was one of the few reasons Alluith was partial to coming to the mountain Weyr -- her distaste for her rider’s sibling hadn’t sweetened any. But the fine dragons of High Reaches? Those she could certainly find their stunning merit. She had been lounging, oh so innocently taking in the facetful of stunning eyes, when the rising green had caught her attention like a light beam to a feline. Never would she disrespect a rising lady by not following suit, though the bemused spark glittered its way through her as she recalled fondly to the last greenflight she had chased within these walls.

A familiar blue caught her attention, though she would give Lajoth his due later -- after the lovely lady had been caught, by her claws or another.
There’s a passing hint of disappointment to not see another familiar dragon amongst the growing crowd of suitors.

Yet the call, and pointed directions to the lovely lady’s rider in her weyr had Alluith stretching, touching Rh’tyb’s mind gently. Who are we to ignore such a lovely invite?

His rider couldn’t help but laugh, nodding as he patted his dragon on the shoulder. “Go on. Suppose I should get going, hm?”

A wave of affection radiated through their bond, as Alluith gave a mighty heave of her muscled body into the air. Oh, lovely lady. I couldn’t help but pause to admire you from the ground. The sun pales in comparison to the shade of green that kisses your hide for how bright and lovely you are. With a gentle nudge from Rh’tyb, she twirled gently, unable to keep the gentle awe from her bright violet eyes. It is an honor to merely be able to chase after you. Let these boys think they can keep up with the speed of a green.

With the invitation of which weyr to head to, Rh’tyb had made shorter work of finding his way around a Weyr he wasn’t terribly familiar with, he knocked gently on the doorframe -- but didn’t dare take a step inside. Not with the rising green’s rider looking particularly.. cagey. He nodded his head to Araskara, before glancing back to Raelin with a respectful nod of his head. “Say the word, and I’ll find somewhere else to go.” He didn’t want to aggravate the woman any further than she seemed to be. First flights could be.. something of an experience. “You hold all the cards, dear.”

////

Rh’tyb: Unaffiliated Ranger Journeyman, visiting High Reaches for.. Reasons. What’s it to you? Want up in his business? Rude. Originally a Benden Rider, pretty blonde boy. Left due to pressure from his father after not impressing a bronze 12 turns ago and went to study as a ranger.
Pros: Charismatic, Family-oriented, Loyal
Cons: Antagonistic, Temperamental, Defensive

Alluith: Speed demon extraordinaire and the ultimate lover makes up this scarred green. A green who fancies herself as a non-shiny, very green bronze, Alluith is nothing but passion and drive in spades. She’d rather punt Rh’tyb’s idiotic father than have dealt with his incessant ire over her hide color, but that’s apparently mean -- so she was rather happy to leave Benden for the open skies. Fights tooth and claw from returning to a Weyr, even with the high drive to return and Fight.
Pros: Competitive, Charming, Driven
Cons: Snitty, Possessive, Aggressive

Oh, the bow was a nice touch. < There's a difference? > she asked Dobrokhoth, coquettish. < Won't you explain it for me? We have some time before I really get busy~ >

For thoughts didn't need breath, leaving the green to gulp in the cooling air freely as she darted ahead. Her angle towards the mountain didn't remain smooth for long, however, as Saith darted to one side of the peaks, dusting snow from the rocks with her claws on a whim. Too cold. She shuddered forward.

Haphoth would be whatever she wished, only - what did she wish for? Strong claws to carry her, yes, but what else? Saith flashed back to the many novels Raelin had read full of lovers finding one another despite difficult and even perilous situations. Could she be that lucky on the first try? But then she remembered her conversation with Sahrawith, the sourness of her sister's maiden flight bothering her again. What if she would be dissatisfied as well? What if none of them would be just right for her, let alone for Hers? It wasn't normal for her to have doubt linger, but many greens didn't feel quite right during a flight. It all sat crooked in her head, and Saith didn't know how to right it once more.

Her tail lashed once as she abruptly changed directions again. < Yes, what with so many greens to choose from, > she drawled at Haphoth, unable to contain herself in the moment. She breathed, and after a moment a courtesy mental touch was reciprocated, less a brush of the hand and more a touch under his chin. < I want you to show me what makes you you, Haphoth. > He could take that as he wished.

She took heart in Chuulnath's continued earnest endeavors, at least. Something about the blue's canine-like energy soothed her. < Won't you stay at my side? > Saith half asked, half goaded, pitching her voice into something breathy. < What if the mountains catch me instead? > She couldn't simply let him fall behind!

And speaking of earnest: she thought Chuulnath had been quick to answer the call, but Lajoth was showing up as quite the speedster. Saith chuckled to herself as she tried to provide a challenge. < Mine is easier to find, but much harder to catch, > she told him. < I hope yours is up to the task! You seem to be~ >

And then...a green? True, Saith had been sending hooded eyes at males since realizing that was even a thing, but the idea of sharing with another green...intrigued her. Maybe that was the hormones talking. Alluith's scars drew her eye before and during the flight, and she reached out to touch her consciousness politely against the other's. < You are a pleasant surprise, Alluith. Welcome. Won't you tell me your story? >

--------------------------------------------------------------------

"Thanks."

Raelin took her own breath, rubbing at the bridge of her nose as she closed her eyes briefly. Saith was just all over the place right now, which meant the world was spinning the opposite way and water now fell upwards. Her green was her rock; now she was the sand, attempting to cover all her suitors and drag them in, and Raelin was just being sucked in with them. It wasn't a mindless goldflight. Now it was a bit more personal.

Huffing, she opened her eyes to see a second suitor, pushed her hair back, and moved beyond the threshold of her door. "Hi. Look. I'm not..." She wouldn't dare throw her beloved under the cart, but Saith's invitation had not been exactly agreed upon beforehand. She must have been planning it for Faranth knew how many sevendays, waiting to spring it on Raelin like a belated nameday gift.

"Let's just break the ice a bit. I'm Raelin," she said to them, like it was the first day of class and not an eye in the storm that was their dragons frantically flying. She curled her hand as Saith brushed past snow, the burst of cold centering her. "I'm not very--good at this sort of thing. I did healing before I become a weyrling. This is very not-healing as far as work goes."

Smooth.
