Brook had always been one for stories and myths and had heard many of them during his travels. One in particular had his attention: the rumor of Nymph's Pool and the offering stones. It was said that if a rabbit offered one of the precious stones, they would be bestowed with a litter of kits. Naturally, the curious buck wanted to test the idea for himself. If it turned out to be true, well who could say no to little ones to pass his stories and knowledge along to?
The buck had made his way to the pool, earnestly telling any who asked of his intentions and producing the little miracle stone. His steps slowed the closer he got, suddenly overrun with a rush of anxiety and excitement, until he reached the edge of the gorgeous, glittering pool. It was there he hesitated, shifting his weight across his paws, ears flicking every which way, and carefully juggling the offering stone between his paws. This was the moment of truth! Was he suppose to say something or just toss the stone in? Perhaps he should just leave it on the edge for easy access. Should he have brought something else along with the stone?
Brook shook his head, trying to slow the whirring torrent of thoughts his mind had dissolved into. "Now don't over complicate it, sport," he softly chided himself.
Looking out at the pool, he spoke again, "I don't know how this all works, if it works at all even, but I do hope you'll accept this offering." He paused to glance down at the stone again. "This rock was ever so precious to me since I found it so I think you'll like it too. Thank you for listening, whoever you are."
Breathing a sigh, Brook gently set the offering stone down in the shallows of the Nymph's Pool.
