[Solo] World crashing down (Kapua)

Kapua looked over at his mother sleeping in their den, he wiggled his way out from her warm arms he wanted to go out and play in the night he thought it would be a lot of fun. So he left his warm safe home with his mother to go out into the night. He had never met his father and he didn't have any other siblings. It was just him. He couldn't remember if any other cubs had been born beside him if there had been they must not have survived. He left his mother, confident that she would be safe in their den.

He had snuck out at night before so he could have some time to himself. During the day his mother looked over him carefully so he didn't have any time to himself. He was a young male and felt like he needed to stretch his legs and hunt a lizard on his own sometimes.

He ran along and strutted full of pride and bravado that he was a brave male and he was fully in control of the night. There was nothing wrong and everything would be fine. He saw a lizard and he crept along trying to catch it off guard so he could pounce on it. He made his attempt and missed the lizard crawled under a rock instead of being pounced which disappointed him to no end. He growled and plopped down in the dirt. He flopped over and looked up at the stars thinking. He just had his mom and living in the rogue lands they didn't come across many families with cubs, so he didn't have any friends.

He wished he had friends, but he had to take care of his mother, they only had each other after all. So he would have to get back to the den to be with her before morning. Then he would have to get some sleep so his mother wouldn't figure out that he had been sneaking out at night for a long time now. He didn't think it was a big deal he was always careful not to be found by hyenas or leopards whatever creatures might take advantage of a young cub wandering alone.

Kapua yawned as he rolled back over and wandered a bit longer soon he would need to turn around and head back home he would need sleep and he would need to cuddle his mother and that was the best thing in the world to him. He loved his mother with all his heart, even when he thought she was a little overprotective. He sighed out deeply and went to the watering hole he looked out at the water the moon reflecting off the surface of the water. He was careful to make sure nothing rippled he didn't need to get eaten by a crocodile on his little adventure after all.

He got his drink and then turned around thinking about what he wanted to do and what he needed to do. It was then that the sound of laughing cut through the air and his blood went cold, it was nowhere near him but it was coming from the direction of the den. Which meant his mother was in danger. He ran back as fast as he could, but when he got there he saw an entire pack of hyenas. He couldn't get close. He had no choice but to stay hidden. If he tried to go closer he would have been killed. They were in the den and he didn't hear his mother.

He was crouched down in the monkey grass watching them move around then he saw a female hyena covered in the blood of his mother. He looked at the markings on her pelt. He would remember this night for the rest of his life. It was true his mother was dead, they had killed her in her own den. He was a failure he had failed to protect his mother. Tears filled his eyes as he turned and ran away into the night. He had no idea where he was going or what he would do now that he was alone in the world.

He ran and ran he had no idea how long he ran alone in the night barely able to see, he just kept running till his legs gave out and he fell to the ground to rest for a bit. He pulled himself up and went back to running. He was so sad and angry, why did the hyenas kill his mother? Why did he decide to go out alone and not protect his mother? He should have been there to protect her. He was the male of the den after all.

So many thoughts were running through his mind as he ran and ran he couldn't seem to make himself stop crying, his whole world had been shattered and he was so tired unable to see very well. He huffed out his breath it was growing hard to breathe. His ribs hurt badly, but he couldn't bring himself to stop. He wasn't sure what would stop him in this time. So he didn't think on stopping even though he was sore and could barely breathe now. He ended up falling on his face many more times in the night as he tried to get away from the world.

Blackness was in his world and there was nothing left for him he didn't think the sun would rise this night as he continued to run unsure when he would be able to let himself stop running. He was frightened and sad. Not sure what to do. He wasn't expecting someone else to slam into him in the middle of the night in the rogue lands. He crashed into whoever it was, not much smaller then he was. He blinked confused and shocked. Tears still in his eyes as he looked up to see who he had crashed into.
