A hole now in the Arashikage's board of advisory the man is at a loss. Sending out what would essentially be letters to whom he believes to be interested parties the Kage readies himself for the interviews in advisor candidates. Participants: Any
Kameyo entered the room with the letter in hand, confusion evident on her face. Before he could get a word in, she began. "Am I being vetted for the economic advisor position? Because I was pretty sure my business ideas in Arashigakure had been kept under tight lock and key, I confided in few people about my concepts." Pausing for a half a second, as if he could get in any confirmation or denial in that amount of time, she continued down the list of possibilities. "Or, because I'm from Gimangakure and spent most of my life wandering, you want me for foreign affairs? I would be alright at reaching out to my old contacts - not the assassins, of course - but I have never been to Konohagakure so I'm not sure if they, uh, will like me. I'm an acquired taste, you know?
"Or am I your catch-all special affair advisor nominee? I like to think I'm pretty flexible," her hurried tone took on a more suggestive inflection for just a moment, "but that's a lot of trust to place in me. Well, all of these are a lot of trust to place in me. And I'm assuming that my pseudo-citizenship status will need to, uh, be a little more official in the case of any of this." She wasn't positive about Kenshin's whereabouts or the status of the other two advisors she thought Toso had under his belt, but she wasn't possibly qualified for those positions to begin with, so it was really down to three. Her high-strung worry about the nomination made her hearts race, though of course her two dissenting ones were offering an almost annoyed buzzing in the back of her mind.
A response letter with only two letters, "N" "O", could have been all that Kagerou needed to send. However, she arrived anyways, and was not disappointed. As she predicted, there were others of interest that arrived to this party.
To put it simply, Kagerou was just here to troll~
To put it more realistically, she obviously wasn't going to overly disrupt this interview. She respected the difficulties of running a village at least that much.
Bells ringing announced the arrival of green haired kunoichi, who evidently had incredibly sharp ears as she inquired, "Ara ara? And what business idea did the village cutie Kameyo have?" the moment she entered the office. Her voice playful and teasing, it was clear what kind of mood Kagerou was in today.

Shion had promised Toso she would stand by his side through thick and thicc, no matter what. This was just one more opportunity for her to fulfill her promise. Obviously she'd need to make it through the application process, but it was 100% something she wanted to do. Oh, also this is a short post because i dont know where we are
Selina arrived at the office with the confidence she needed to. She was determined to take this position after Kenshin, a former adviser, stepped away from his position. As an agent of Toso's idol company, she already had a repose with him. Her popularity from stardom allowed her an insight into the wants and needs of the people, which is how she wanted best to help her village.

"SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WONDERFUL YOU COULD ALL COME OUT TODAY!" The sing-songy voice would sound from above, the roof parting above would open as a rainbow bridge arced itself into the office. Oh yes, Kagerou would know. He was in one of those 'moods' Indeed the location of which all his lovelies were in was indeed the Arashikage's office. Or so it seemed. For you see the door was replaced with an entryway into none other than a door to the wonderful world of Isekai-Junsei. The world of imagination! The Arashikage would then in a flowery attire slide down the rainbow archway. The entryway would remain open for any late arrivals however, Toso had long already believed two members to be part of his board of advisory already. Kojiro would take Kenshin's place that much he knew based on the man's interests and he had little doubts about his capability to manage the internal affairs of Arashigakure still it would have been quite nice if he still decided to attend to see whom he'd be working with in the future. Meanwhile, Shiro was likely already finalizing his paperwork into his entry as the advisory for foreign affairs. Now...he'd have aptly appointed Trefles as the financial advisor but the man outright always refused assuming anything and any title that would attach him to the village and restrict his freedoms. This left the gaggle before him, all be believed qualified to fill the remaining positions. Militant Advisor, Special Affairs, and Finance.
Tapping his cane in hand with a an expressive amount of what could be considered unsettling glee as he looked over the arrivals. "I'm so glad you could all be here today. OH AND KA-NEE! WHAT A JUBILANT SURPRISE! OH HO HO BLOOP! This just fills me with the utmost of joys you certainly will contribute significantly to todays excercise." The man would say embracing himself and his tacky attire. 'Excercise' that meant something and that something would soon be discovered as he pointed his cane at the group of arrivals.
"Right then my sweet dear hearts bloop! I called you all here today to find out where it is you truly SHINE!" With a twirl of his cane like a stage magician the world around them, what was once the office would warp in a blur of colors. Suddenly all arrivals would find themselves on a battlefield, atop a fortress being bombarded and falling apart, a hyper realistic field of war as the ground trembled with every attack at the wall, if not for the fact the people being killed on the battlefield would bleed black attesting to their ink like creation. The screams and cries for help all sounded real. "Test number one. We are out gunned, out manned, out numbered, out planned..." suddenly a massive rock shot threw the wall next to Toso as the wind blew his hair he remained unphased before he continued. "Your resources are as follows. They may be contructs of Isekai-Junsei but you should believe them to be real people for this exercise bloop." He'd point behind the group of four and behind them were all decorated individuals that looked just as panicked and terrified as any real soldier would on the field of war.
"You're chunnin named Janesse Dumon was a former foreigner who enlisted only recently to help cover the expenses of mother and fathers move here. Three days later she finds herself in this war. She has one dog and three cats all adopted. On her off days she works part time at the animal shelter. She hasn't so much as killed a single person or harmed a single fly. She has enough chakra left if put into number form to perform one cetergory S technique. At her disposal she has the entire wind and earth arsenal up to the catergory A."
A twirl of the cane as he'd point to a rather rotund fellow. "Kozen Akimichi age forty-three twice divorced. See's very little reason in living and drowns his sorrows in meat and booze. A jounin but only attained that title through seniority. His chakra reserves are still at their highest capable of performing 3 S+ catergory techniques with an assortment of doton and his bloodline to work with. Among the opposing enemy forces is one of ex-wives whose defected." His cane would move to a small girl next who was healing injured 'men' in a corner.
"Kimochi Nakamura. Age tweelve, a skilled medical practitioner of Eiseijutsu and prodigal surgeon. She is a genin with the body of a seasoned Jounin. Her actual body, however, is frail but her heart is strong. A single strike would mean her unfortunate sacrifice but she is an avid master of the Akira, Tekiatsu, and Kote arts. If I were to consider her available resources at this point one S+ category technique!"
Toso would place his hands behind his back and then perform an about face and shout while pointing in the direction of the 'enemy' "Aside this you have roughly One hundred able-bodied men left. The enemy has over one thousand. The general stands with his Gunbai empowering his men in the distance his flanks covered by three platoons of ten men each set to guard duty! You have roughly an hour to devise your individual plans of action to this scenario before the fortress falls...and one more thing." Suddenly Toso would vanish and reappear several miles away clad in heavy generals attire holding up the Gunbai sporting a cartoonish squid. "I'M THE GENERAL!" The voice boomed throughout the imaginative world before silence set in. This whole scenario was like next level playing pretend but was supposed to be taken seriously as possible. Right then as the potential advisors would attempt to try and understand all the information given to them the fortress would tremble from another impact.

Kameyo had a devilish smile on her face at Kagerou's question. "Ah, I wouldn't dare spoil such a delicious surprise," she answered vaguely, and something in her tone gave the impression it wasn't food she was talking about it.
As confused as this whole ordeal was, she had to admit she was happy to see Selina again. And then, of course, Toso was appearing from the roof and oh, they were entering his strange not-real-but-not-not-real world. Kameyo had her misgivings but entered anyways, examining the battlefield with new interest.
Hearing the resources at her disposal, she conjured up a plan quickly, planning to utilize the resources at hand as evenly as possible across the board. The other army is larger. So we want a choke point or to slow their mobility. I utilize Janesse, who doesn't want to take someone's life, to shift the landscape. She creates a landslide that prevents the army from advancing towards us. It'll ruin their taijutsu and bukijutsu-focused soldiers who will struggle to get out of the mud.
"Kimochi will use pain suppression on Kozen so he can tank through the battlefield. Kozen, my main man, I have him use his bloodline techniques to become gigantic. He will manuever the battlefield with remarkable ease as his giant footsteps will permit him to move around the mud - while he will move slowly at this size, he will also draw the attacks of the enemies which will reveal their positions - granting our one hundred men to dispatch them as they're distracted by Kozen. As he draws their fire he will utilize a doton technique that will grab debris from all over the battlefield. This attack will get most of the outlying soldiers now caught in the center of the mudslide.
Finally, Kozen will bodyslam into the center of the land slide which will destroy the brunt of the large army. Our one hundred men should have picked off any stragglers as well as Kozen's earlier doton technique. Depending on the outcome, Kozen has enough energy to produce another doton technique should anyone have been missed. Kimochi will use her remaining chakra to stabilize Kozen temporarily once he shrinks down so that we may remove him from the field and get him proper medical attention."

"Oh my. That does seem a rather well ta do plan of action however..." What was an inky copy of Toso had appeared next to Kameyo for a short chime. "It's all solely reliant on convincing your allies to do what you want bloop! I hear no inspirative words of encouragement or consolidation in this plan of yours bloop! So lets see how this plan plays out!" With a twirl of his cane Kameyo's plan would play out like chess pieces on a live game board while everyone was teleported above the battlefield to watch below. Toso would point his cane down to points of interest.
"General Toso's banner continues to empower his soldiers. His commanding leadership and their morale still high does not have the landslide intimidate them. Janesse lacking words of encouragement fears she may hurt someone so her landslide suffered an unfortuante delay! THE STRENGTH,REFLEX,SPEED,AND FORTITUDE of the General's men are all still fortified. A simple water walking technique makes the mud negligible! Their enhanced bodies shatter through the rubble as well! Oh and what's this! Kozen's lack of morale has just turned him huge but rather useless inviting death as the reinforced battalion tears into him made all the worse as he sees his ex-wife among the ranks and becomes paralyzed with fear and sadness! He can't so much as focus to even think about his second order to collect debris before he's beheaded and topples to the ground. Kimochi remaining in the medical tents stares in horror. The fortress falls! BUT WAIT...WHERE WAS THEIR GENERAL! NOWHERE ON THE FIELD, IT SEEMS!? LOW! OUR MENS MORALE WAS AT ITS LOWEST YET!"
A twirl of the cane and everyone would be back atop teh fortress again as the whole scenario reset. "Perhaps that was a bit cruel of me bloop. Plans and executions look good on paper, but these are people, even if they aren't 'people' emotions on the field of battle are a key component. Words of encouragement, an aura of leadership, unyielding confidence in oneself and their men! It was most good you took Janesse's respect for life into account but her nerves were another monster in of itself bloop. Consider this a trial run of what's to be expected! You're free to come up with another plan Lady Kameyo. AH! But this was the only hint I'm providing to you all. Once all your plans are complete with, What you'll say, what you'll do, and what you hope to happen we'll playback these scenarios just like we did here. AH! But what's most important while in this scenario you are the sole general, in this room you may bounce ideas of one another! Just like a real council! AnyWHOOP! Toodles!"

Selina was surprised her sensory abilities did not detect the illusory world around her. She must have had too many thoughts on her mind and did not stop to note the obvious. However, a trail of fictional people materialized, and Toso gave his instructions. With the resources provided, how were they supposed to win against an army a thousand men larger? Selina's mouth fell when she caught all of the people bleeding and crying out in agony. It was hard at times to remember that this was all just an illusion. However, she had seen war before. She knew that there was nothing glorious or victorious with this. The only goal of war was to protect those one can. It was that cornerstone which Selina devised her thoughts.
As expected, Kameyo gave out a brilliant plan. She introduced a whole bunch of brilliant usages of facts such as using the skittish warrior for terrain control and using the medical in the way that she did. It reminded her of the way that the two were able to sneak past the APD in order to solve the crime that they could not. However, when Toso played out her strategy, the plan failed. The fortress still fell. Selina took a few steps as she looked around the fortress. It was a standard militant structure with a couple of towers and was mostly fortified. However, with the force of the oncoming army, even with a choke point strategy, there was still too many people. No matter what scenario she thought of, the fort always fell. That's when she recalled the exact wording of Toso's statement.
"You have roughly an hour to devise your individual plans of action to this scenario before the fortress falls..."
Toso wasn't looking for a way to stop the fortress from falling. This wasn't about the structure. "I also think a choke point strategy is the smartest, but not to use Janesse." Selina said. "Instead, Janesse and Kozen need to use their remaining chakra to create chakra tunnels through the ground. One can make tunnels long enough for the army to escape from, while the other can close the tunnel after enough distance and the army is safe. The first thing I would ask is that the remaining general orders the gates to open, which will draw the army in through one focal point. Then I would hope the medical ninja could create a toxin which would hinder the incoming forces. That'll allow the general and his three battalions a chance to hold off the oncoming flood of people to the best of their abilities. Once that happens, there's no hope for them. The fortress will fall, and Kimochi, the general, and his three battalions will die. However, the survivors will be able to come back to Arashi and get help. When we return we will avenge them, and their sacrifices will not go unremorsed." Selina decided. She based this strategy on what she would do if she was on the battlefield. She would stay behind to give the others a chance to run. After all, so many of them were not ready for the horrors of war. Kimochi, the general, and his battalions, however, felt like they were ready to make that sacrifice. And Selina would die among them for the sake of giving the others a chance to escape.

SHIONxxxxxMORI Honestly now... Shion had no clue what to say. She had always known Toso to have a flare for the dramatic... to be a little flamboyant at times, but this was a whole new level. Honestly, it was irksome in on so many levels. Still, this was the man she had vowed to support through whatever comes their way; if he needed a right-hand man, she would not throw away her shot.
Going off of the hints given by the first failed attempt, Shion quickly devised a plan of action. Approaching Kozen and Janesse, Shion called out to her remaining forces. "Everyone, gather 'round." She then took a moment to steady herself for what she was about to ask. "Things are not looking the best, but I have an idea on how we can beat them. I need your full support, and I'm sure I can count on you. Kozen, I need you to craft us a tunnel leading from the fortress to their general. Janesse, support him in any way you can. Kimochi, you've got a strong heart, but I need you to get as many of these people back on their feet as you can. Once we're below the general, I will blow the lid on this party. We're going to hit them right at the heart. All of us." At this moment, Shion would summon forth the towering lion, Inkunzi. As she stood atop his titanic, inspiring form, Shion would bellow to her troops.
"Everyone, this is it. we're about to make our final charge. I know we're outnumbered, but we're going to end this here and now by hitting them right at the source. Now, our kage has tasked us with holding this fortress, but I want you to set that aside for now. Don't worry about him; I need you to think about them," she would say, gesturing towards the enemy's location. "This is YOUR land, YOUR castle, and they want to hurt YOUR people! Now, are we going to just sit here and let them take what's ours?" Shion would ask, checking on the status of the tunnel and to see how the men were responding to her speech. "Or are we going to fight to protect our home, our friends, and our families? I wont lie. This is going to be our hardest fight yet. We'll be tunneling directly into the heart of their lines. Those men are killers. They want nothing more than to hurt us, but we're not going to let them. We're going to take out their general right here and now, you and I together, and we're going to end it all. Those are brave men out there; now let's go kill them." With that, Shion would draw her blade from its sheath, holding it high into the air as she would hopefully lead her remaining troops down the tunnel and towards victory.

[[I'm not going for a specific list of jutsu to solve the puzzle, just motivating them to do their best and avoid the most troops as possible. Kozen is supposed to use Uitenpen [ Impermanence ] to tunnel under them since he has a lot of chakra. Janesse is helping stabilize the tunnel as best she can, and Kimochi is getting everyone she can back to fighting shape. Shion, the Lion, and the roughly 100 dudes are gonna go get Toso or die trying. hopefully the former.]]
Ironic that Kagerou, dressed as she was, did nothing to participate in the war games. She had, after making suggestive eye waggles to play along with Kameyo's devilish grin, been quiet since Tosokurui Ashi Hojo's flamboyant appearance. Yes, that name needed full spelling out. Just because Kagerou couldn't say it out loud didn't mean she couldn't think it while her smile froze at the shenaniganery he chose to unfold. She had to wonder, analyzing her own reactions, if perhaps she was growing too old. Just a decade ago, if something such as this had happened, and it had happened courtesy of Jack, she would have laughed it off and enjoyed it.
Well, it wasn't like Kagerou stress over it much even now. No matter how... casually and informally Toso approached this serious selection of the people who would lead the future of the village, Kagerou could see beneath it the time, effort, and even brilliance of the plan. She didn't take long to relax, imagine up a chair, and roll her seat slightly into the sidelines, where she was out of the spotlight but still close enough to hear everyone and their battle plans. Each had their own approach, and what Kagerou thought of each approach, she kept secretly to herself as a polite and considerate audience. It wasn't like there was a wrong answer here, either. Like and dislike aside, each solution was valid, and one could feel the thought put in each... Or well... Spirit in Shion's case. That girl was gonna win on pure Shounen MC BELIEVE IT power alone. Kagerou could feel it.
It seemed, from the way Toso talked earlier, that he had sounded out that Kagerou wasn't interested in any of the positions. In that case, he wouldn't mind her lazing about with a small chess table and pieces magicked with the power of imagination from his ink, right?
The overseeing Toso would hear as Kameyo would whisper into his ear that she'd rather see things play out than devise another plan believing her chance was passed. With a nod Overseer Toso would then essentially look at a script that manifested in his hands detailing the steps that were being taken. With a puff n a poof did he reappear amidst the generals and thus did he place them in their own respective scenarios.
-Selina- "QUITE THE DISPLAY OF TACTILE USE! ONE NEEDN'T INSPIRE IF CATERING TO THE FEAR THAT WELLS WITHIN! TRULY THIS IS A SOLUTION!" Overseer Toso would point to the group producing the evacuation tunnels. With tunnels prepared come the eventual invasion the enemy flooded the fortress. "FLOODED WITH POISON!? The death of a child was not one he found pleasing in the least even if it was all make-believe, even if it was that child's choice to serve, and the decision making of Selina to put the girl on the frontlines...despite how capable she was, was, in turn, a test and to have her only support be the enacting general...was hardly enough to satisfy. Thusly...the false General Selina, and the last remaining men fell. The enemy general still having his men vastly empowered by his presence. Selina's scenario would end and Overseer Toso would land. "Your strategy. Saved a large number of lives at the expense of the few. You could say that you lost the battle but still have the chance to win the war, retreating to Arashi to regroup...but this fortress Selina. Was the war, and was in this scenario...Arashi. Not many are ready to face the horrors of war, in fact, I'd say that its a majority. Despite that. We have to face it. Even if we know we may very well fail. Even when the odds are against us. If we had all decided to flee Arashi during Kogarashi's attack we'd certainly have had more people alive...but our 'fortress' the thing we swore to protect would have fallen. My goals are to prevent such horrors from happening to even begin with..but when it does...we cannot simply run away...no matter how much we want to. His words. 'Even if we know we may very well fail.' "You have roughly an hour to devise your individual plans of action to this scenario before the fortress falls..." Those words were a bait. A bait to set root the mindset that failure would have been an inevitability and while Selina's logic was well deduced she had taken that bait.
-Kagerou- "KNIGHT TO B12! Oh wait..that puts me in checkmate." Toso had appeared in a chair opposite to Kagerou taking part in her chess game simultaneously whilst Shion devised her plan. "Ah, what a darling you are Ka-nee. Not your cup of tea bloop? I'm certain your chess game could have been at least somewhat reflexive of the goings-on. Ah, but really you're just here for the merriment no? I'm so glad your fit to have our friendship blossom in spending this time with me. NAY. US! BLOOP!" The small aside with Kagerou would be cut short as Shion would be sent to play out her scenario.
-Shion- "YEAH!" this was just a few of the cheers that Shion was filling the men and women with. Shion's spirit of FIGHT got the squid to put his hand on his chin wondering where this would go. "That's my Shio-nee." If anything he sounded a little proud, like a proud father maybe an admirer. In Shion's scenario she would be on the battlefield as the general of course while the rest would be watching it play out from above. This was contrary to Selina's scenario where it was only a figment of Selina. Selina kept using the term 'the general' and while 'the general' was her she referred to them as if they were another person. Meanwhile Shion was belting out I statements like no tommorrow...and so the plan began. "THE STEALTHY BUT STRONG WILLED WARRIORS TUNNEL TO THE ENEMY GENERALS PROUD PODIUM! TRAMPLING FEET ABOVE THE GROUND HIDE THEIR SUBTERRANEAN VOYAGE! THOROUGHLY CAUGHT OFF GUARD ARE THE GENERAL'S MEN AND WHAT! THE GENERAL HIMSELF! AS THE SQUADRON OF ELITES ENGAGE IN THEIR AMBUSH! THE GENERAL'S BANNER NO LONGER PROUDLY HELD HIS MENS MORALE MAKES A MAJOR MOVE TOWARD THE MOROSE! SUCH IS THE BURDEN OF NOT KEEPING STILL WHEN WAVING ONE'S COMMANDING WAR FAN! KOZEN TOSSES HIS GENERAL INTO THE AIR! KIMOCHI HEALS HER BEATEN BODY COVERED IN FILTH AND JANESSE ENSNARES THE GENERALS FEET WITH EARTHEN ICHOR! AND WHAT DOES THE GENERAL AGAINST THE ODDS WISH TO ECHO TO HER ALLIES IN THIS ELATED ASSAULT COMING TO ITS END! Toso left room for Shion to come up with a single whitty quip, knowing her she'd have some enjoyment punching the squid in the face. Shion's strategy had essentially led to a victory against all odds. The enemy having lost their morale boost were actually combatable by the few. The extra empowerment from the cat summon had given them the means to keep at bay the onslaught. While this was a victory...all of Shion's slightly above one hundred men all died. The fortress would not fall and in the death of the general would come the enemies assured retreat.

SHIONxxxxxMORI Spiraling into the air, Shion would begin her decent towards the enemy general. As she gained speed, Shion performed one final mid-air somersault, slamming the heel of her earthen foot into the top of fake-Toso's nugget. "Eat dirt, nerd!" And just like that, it was over. Looking back to what remained of her forces, Shion's face momentarily grew sour. They had won, but the cost was heavy, almost too heavy. But such was the nature of war; it was a reality she was all too familiar with by now. All they could do is keep on fighting and remember those who fell. "You all did well. Thank you."
Selinaβs eyes fell to the ground in shame. Apparently, the main focus was to save the fortress, not the people. This made her feel ashamed, but also confused. βWhat... do you mean?β Selina said as she rose her head. βWe didnβt retreat from Arashi when Kogarashi attacked because they never reached Arashi. They attacked the fake village, which is where we defeated their leader. And even when their leader Kagami invaded, she did not do so with an army. It certainly wasnβt the scenario where a hundred fight a thousand. I donβt get your points, and I would like to know what you mean.β If Selina were to learn, then she needed to ask questions. A lot of this was new to her, but she couldnβt help but feel like something was wrong.

Kameyo was carefully devoid of emotion while her plan fell apart. She wasn't one for needless panic. She watched and learned, though she did feel cheated about the morale part - figuring she could just order the ink creations around to see the simulation play out without issue. However, she should have also known that Toso would've been quite aware of any emotional or ultimately human parts of war. He was more of a bleeding heart than she could ever be, and she had five of them.
She watched Shion suggest a winning play after Selina's fell south. Kagerou wasn't interested at all, which was interesting in of itself, and Kameyo partially kept an eye on their chess game, though she had absolutely no idea how to play herself and was unaware of who was winning. "Well, that was exciting," she said flatly, betraying the fact that she was not at all entertained. "You made that sound like the first test. What else do you have planned for us?"
She didn't take the failure to heart and briefly considered a crude joke about needing to sleep to get the position, but thought better of it since there were many shinobi here who Toso seemed to genuinely respect.
