Mi-jin entered the entrance area with the large possum on her shoulders. Her eyes surveying the area and landing on the various food vendors. “Thank you mighty moon for blessing me with this feast. Amen!” Pawpaw drool on her shoulder as they beckoned toward every cart. She smiles as food was pushed into her hand. Mi-jin didn’t know what half of the food even was, but she was happy to try them all. Her favorite was, of course, all the meat-related ones. Sharing her portions with the possum. “Be careful pawpaw that hot,” Mi-jin warned as she held up a takoyaki to her four-legged friend. “We got to be on our best behavior here.” Mi-jin reminded as she casually pop another takoyaki into her mouth. “Hawt. hawt.”
Haru Kurou The young genin was just at the point of possibly picking something out when the sight of a furry totem yanked his attention. It was never very hard to spot a shinobi unless they were purposefully trying to hide it. Whether it be how they stand out from a crowd or how just much they try NOT to. This girl was either a shinobi or one hell of an odd ball. Maybe both?
Yet from this distance Haru didn't see any head band. Only a small insignia on her glove.
He stroked his chin thoughtfully before giving a slight shrug and heading her way. "Enjoying the food Miss? You should definitely try some of the beef ramen they have over there if that's the case" Haru said, jutting a thumb in the general direction of the cart he mentioned. "My name is Haru Kurou, a genin from Suna. You wouldn't happen to be another genin participating in the tournament would you?"
If she wasn't that then likely she was some kind of tourist but he had to ask. He hadn't had any good chance to fight since the academy and he had never fought a tamer before, such a thought already got his blood pumping.

Mi-jin had a mouth full of food when he approached her. Her eyes widen and the possum raised its large head with an equal amount of foodstuff in its cheek pouches. After swallowing she smiles, “Yes I am! They don’t make food like this back home.” Mi-jin made eye contact with him. “Ooh yes! I haven’t tried it yet, thanks!” Mi-jin would later shake her head. Feeling pawpaw sniffing her hair and neck for any other food. Ignoring the conversation completely. “Nope, afraid not. M’name is Mon Mi-jin and this is my best friend Pawpaw!” Mi-jin introduces back. Now knowing that she was speaking with a participant, Mi-jin paid a bit more attention. “Nice to meet cha Haru! Is this your first time competing?” Mi-jin oasis was too small to have an official shinobi. Not many could even use ninjustu, so they never had any genin to send away. In fact, Mi-jin was the first in many generations to even leave the oasis. “If you want, I can give you a blessing for good luck.” Mi-jin offered.
Showing up fashionably late after running into some ne'er-do-wells at a crossroads, Bast found herself momentarily waylaid by the promise of purchasable goods seldom seen elsewhere. Obstacles are like wild animals. They are cowards but they will bluff you if they can. If they see you are afraid of them... They are liable to spring upon you; but if you look them squarely in the eye, they will slink out of sight.
Kaori and Nova stalked through the gates as if they were in a jungle. Which, with all the booths and people hawking their wares, it really could be considered an urban jungle at the moment. Nova's massive seven foot tall stature made it easy for Kaori's smaller five foot frame to pass through the crowds. They both held their head's high, not caring who saw them or what they thought. They were here as overseers, but that didn't mean that they trusted the UHV. Honestly, Kaori was ready for s**t to hit the fan, she could practically taste it in the air, and so far everything looked like it was on the up and up.
Kaori shook her head and stopped by a booth selling some kunai. She picked out a snake-tongue kunai, two packs of snowflake shuriken, two packs of the wafer kunai, and handed over the ryo for her purchase. Once that was done she and Nova moved on, ignoring the stares and the obvious fear that Nova's size, and species, caused. As long as no one was stupid enough to try and attack them, Nova would play nice. It was time to head to oversee the matches.
Haru Kurou Haru's shoulders slumped a little when she said she wasn't participating, that was a let down. His mood was luckily improved when he heard his name being called for the first match.
"Yep and from the sounds of it my match is starting! Sorry to cut our meeting short miss but a blessing would be very much appreciated!"
Quickly wrapping up their meeting he headed over towards the arena at a quick pace, excited for finally getting a chance to fight.

Enter from Minowa's Arena
"Hm... Definitely the UHV," Agni leaned to the side to peek around the hulking shape of the giant wolf and then straightened up, finally convinced with sufficient certainty of the enemy's identity. It only took seeing a whole army with his own two eyes before he stopped giving the UHV chances. Well, to be exact, Agni's clone, the one that had been speed walking to catch up to Severin.
Although, even the Agnis in the back could hear the report given. The identity of the group, by this point, didn't matter much. To fight or... to not. Unfortunately, for Agni, he did not consider the choice to be his. He had a duty to protect. Although, he would not be able to do it alone.
The two clones each reacted accordingly.
"Get to safety, Hanae," one of the clones quietly suggested to the young girl. Well, it was meant to be a suggestion, despite the bluntness the monotone phrase plopped down with. Behind the cover of his mask, this clone also turned his eye in Minowa's direction but did not say anything.
The clone besides Severin, who had finally caught up to the rushing, white-haired man stopped besides him. He'd search the taller male's face, reading the expression. Although, regardless of what conflicted emotions stormed quietly upon the surface, it wouldn't change the reality of the situation or the question Agni had to ask. There was a pause, during which Agni took a deep breath, imperceptible as the rising and falling of his chest might have been as he did what he could to keep it hidden. He didn't like it, but this time, he chose his trust to win over his concern, and left the decision up to Severin, "Who will you protect?". Those who must evacuate? Or those who stay to fight? He hoped to full question got through despite the terse inquiry.
Although, really, that was only the clone Agni assuming he wasn't going to be ordered to one side or the other. The real Agni moved up to within easy earshot of the Mizukage and waited patiently for any orders that might come. He, like his clone, would have taken the initiative to ask Severin first, but he could see that his clone was already handling that.
While Agni stood in a loose standby position, with his feet shoulder width and hands clasped loosely behind his back, his eyes roved to and fro beneath his mask. He had... lost track of the cat again. The feline was fe-fine, right? He wasn't purr-t? He searched, worried, until he found that the cat had somehow slinked his way sneakily right into the center of the action, sitting on his haunches not more than a few feet. The stoic genin took one look at the cat, and then decided that his worry was ill placed. The giant fluffball had somehow remained pristine through the chaos and was presently looking at Bastet like she had somehow personally offended him. Was it her name? And how she dared let even a speck of dust touch her despite carrying the name of a goddess of cats? Well, Agni could only speculate... and preemptively begin selecting appropriate funeral dirges for the little king.

And now they were outside! Hanae had hopped onto the earth slide that grumpy lady had made without a second thought, following Agni's lead. Now that they were in the clear, she took the last remaining piece of her wooden man and strapped it to her back using a few strips of cloth. It was uncomfortable, but she felt like this was as good a time as any to take care of it.
Agni's suggestion did not fall on deaf ears. She may have been an idiot, but if there was one thing Hanae wasn't, it was an idiot. She made a quick tactical assessment of the situation and realized there were three options: Go back to the Frost, where she'd probably get in a whole heap of trouble and/or have to deal with some butthurt UHV numskulls. Stick with the love of her life and her developing harem, all of whom seemed to be stronger than her and some of whom seemed to even be somewhat fond of her. Wander off into the wilderness and hope she could wrestle a jaguar into submission before it ate her. Option 1 was pretty lame, all told. Option 2 increased her romantic and educational prospects but separated her from her family; it was still a net plus, but not, like, the plus-est. Option 3 sounded awesome and a good way to get an animal companion and go on all sorts of crazy adventures, but one look at the jumbo doggie that the gray lady had ridden in on told her she probably couldn't handle a jaguar. Process of elimination held option 2 as the best choice.
"Roger!" she answered, planting her feet with a serious look on her face. Her Hidden Frost headband glistened a bit in the sunlight as she surveyed the group. "Is there anything I can do to help anyone before moving out? Minnow, you good? You need a shoulder to lean on, uh..." She wracked her brains for Severin's name, but drew a blank. Had they ever been properly introduced? She didn't think so. Wait, no, she'd given her name, but hadn't gotten his yet. "...anyway, you need a hand?" she finished lamely, pointing toward Severin to make it clear who she was talking to. Grumpenstein the Elder ("Inky", maybe?), Gray Mole Lady ("Bat" followed by a swear?), Dogganosaurus Rex ("Dyed cheese"?), and Blood-Soaked Carnage Mama (she'd missed this lady's name completely) were probably fine, or at least weren't in such a bad shape that she could help them. Probably. She wasn't 100% sure that all that blood wasn't Carnage Mama's, but really didn't want to be the one to ask.
Hanae made a mental note to properly get everyone's name at some point. Also to get her ears checked.

She crouched down and held out a loose fist toward the critter, thumb pointed skyward, trying to entice the feline closer. Her demeanor was calm, cool, perfectly collected, nothing out of place to betray her inner turmoil. To accurately summarize her mental state would take a team of trained psychologists and doctors of literature no less than eight sleepless nights as they pored over every one of the most powerful lines rendered by modern man, then ratcheted up the fervor tenfold. A rough approximation by one such scholar might read:

Another, arguably more romantic member of that panel might instead choose to instead describe the landscape of her brain, how its every fold was shifting into the visage of the creature that stood before her. How her synapses--given hands of their own--would paint a portrait of the snowball as a prince in brilliant crimson regalia.

The primary thing when you reach toward a cat is your intention to pet it, whatever the means. Whenever you parry, dodge, or accept the swipes of your target's claws, you must pet it in the same movement. Know your target, know its paws and tail. Know the smallest spots and the biggest splotches, the shallowest and deepest patches of fur, the fuzz on the chin and the fluff in the ears.
