With the prevalence for star based shenanigans, it seems an overenthusiastic participant has taken to placing stickers on the foreheads of any animal they can find. A number of cats, dogs, rodents--anything they could get their hands on--is now donning a shimmery star sticker in the center of their foreheads. The cats almost perfectly resemble Mauvians; they have no aura, and no ability to speak, but that doesn’t mean the average person knows it. Good Samaritans have taken to trying to peel the stickers off of their foreheads--which is generally appreciated, unless they accidentally find a Mauvian. But then, most of the people who know about Mauvians are powered; do they know them well enough to tell the difference between them and an unfortunate cat? And how are Mauvians responding to these unwilling imposters?
So far, Abby really liked this star event going on, but she thought it was extremely rude that animals were getting stickers put on them. Animals had lot's of fur and that hurt! At least, the last talking cat she played with told her. So she had, when she had the chances, gone around and had begun getting the stickers off whatever animals would let her, but she had to be sneaky about, because she knew adults could get weird when kids wanted to pet strange animals. So far, she had mainly been successful with some of the small dogs, and one or two big dogs, she was avoiding the rats that she'd see entirely (though she did want to know who was able to grab them to do that, theyre pretty brave) , and had moved on to the cats, unfortunately, this brought on a new problem; how could she tell which cats were real mau maus and which weren't (she hadn't bothered to call them mauvians, finding it cuter to call them a name instead, most mauvian were not too pleased)
She thought about it all that night, and into the morning, and realized she had an idea. Mau mau really loved technology, except for that weird red one who just stole vegetables, so maybe she'd carry around her tablet, and set nearby to make sure noone stole it of course, but also to see who was who.
She didn't anticipate her mom telling her the babysitter, who wasn't Glen, or Vivi, would be watching her today. Darnit!
She sat in her room, pouting, trying to think of a quick way to see if her test would work, and finally decided that she could probably test it out in the yard first. To which she snatched up her tablet and set it on the grass by her swingset, then hid in her little treehouse to wait.
Only to wake up to a frantic babysitter calling for her, and rain almost drowning her tablet, the tablet she would be grounded for breaking again. Oh boy.
That set her back several days, since she unfortunately did get grounded, but her tablet thankfully hadn't broke, just needed a good drying, she had lost tablet privileges for the week though. It had given her enough time to come up with another idea though. She set up cans of tuna around the house, and waited until she caught a few cats, at which she'd yell "A BIG MONSTER IS ATTACKING, GET THE SCOUTS!" And if any looked up she had her answer. This worked for a few days, but then she ran out of tuna, and the not mau maus were kind of living at her house now. Uh-oh.
After yet another week of grounding, Abby was at her end, laying sadly in her treehouse, until the weird fluffy orange cat who'd play with her hopped onto her chest. "What's the problem? Noone to plunder?"
She just looked at him, another idea quickly forming in her head. "Mister Kitty Gabe!" She cried, holding the squirming cat up. "You gave me an idea! Will you help? Please?"
The cat, mauvian, squirmed, annoyed at being in the air until he stopped, confused. "With what? What do I get?" His tail flicked, he knew exactly what he'd ask for.
"Getting stickers off the not mau maus! And yeah! I'll get you a whole bunch of tomatoes! And seeds!"
His tail practically wagged, eager to agree."Sure!"
Abby cheered, and with the orange mauvian, Gabes help, she had successfully managed to get the stickers off every cat nearby within a week.
She never did give Gabe his tomatoes though, she may have lost her allowance for those weeks too.
