It was a simple message. Quote: To: Mali From: ViveI need your help with something. I need to test run a project of mine and wanted to ask if you'd help. Should be safe.

It was a short message, that was certain, that popped up on 'Mali's tablet. Lacking in affection, in actual greetings, in details, but it was still a message that took all of his attention as he read it.
Ultimately, 'Mali wasn't doing anything important in the first place. When it came to the Negaverse, the less amount of effort he put in, the better. But an exception could be made for Vivre.
A simple reply was sent, Alright, I'll be there soon, meet me behind the barracks., and within a few minutes, he was in the Negaverse. Yes, he didn't like giving effort, but he could see the benefits of often doing the paperwork for a certain general would provide. One of them being immediate travel to the Negaverse and back upon request.
It was route he took more than a few times, from the General's office to the barracks, and his normal spot of waiting was empty. Good. All that was left was for Vivre to arrive.

Vit was excited. After visiting with Tiberius for the last polish off of the item he had requested and the testing that had been done before it, it finally had the finished item. Even moreso, it had something else for Mali that might make what it was going to ask it just a bit less - well, insane to ask. It knew Mali was not one for fighting which meant he wasn't going to be thrilled about pain either. However, if he just explained things, maybe he could help him out just to be sure.
Wrapped in some newspaper, Vitriol showed up with a slender objected wrapped up in its paws.
"Hello Mali. Thank you for showing up so soon this late. I wasn't sure if I was asking too soon for this." It said as it showed up.

”Good Evening.” How could someone always put a smile on his face so easily? The moment he laid his eyes on Vivre, the smile came and he stood up a little straighter, wanting to show just how excited he was to see her.
“It’s really wonderful to see you. I was wondering when we might get together again. You seemed excited in your text so I figured the sooner the better.” It was a joke, of course, a chuckle following behind his words. Even now he could tell Vit was excited.
“What do you have there?”

"Oh. Sorry. I - I have a bit of a hard time with typing on the keyboard." It said, noting the chuckle and wondering if it had written a weird message. Maybe it should have used exclamation marks? Maybe try and find where the tablet hid emojis.
As Mali noticed the package, Vitriol held it out for him to take. "Something for you. Not the reason why I called you over but, I meant to give it to you but we're always up to something. And - I think it's the best I can get it right now. I'm still rusty at all of it, but I hope you can use it for something. Maybe cooking. I just wanted something to repay you for everything you've done for me."

"It's alright, Vivre, it was a simple message, I'm only teasing, nothing to worry about in the slightest." It was more weird that he had come so quickly with so little information. Anyone else would say it was Mali being far too desperate for the halfling's attention, dropping what he was doing in an instant, but what did he care?
Being someone that important to Mali was a rarity.
He gave his friend a curious look then took the package, turning it around in his hands a few times before tearing it open.
"... A knife?" Well... that was certainly a surprise. He held it by the handle and flipped it around in his hand without much thought to it. The material seemed familiar..Crystals?
.... Was that really what this was made out of?
"This is incredible... How did you get this?" His voice was laced with awe and wonder, enamored by the way the blade twinkled in the faint light of the Negaverse.

The blade was indeed crystal. A deep purple that caught light to lighter shades of violet and magenta. The blade was wrapped with strands of tan leather. One side of the blade was smoothed over and had little swirls carved into it. The cutting edge was smooth and sharp like a broken shard of glass, sanded and cut to a point.
"You like it?" It said with an uptick of motion in it's tail. "I know you don't really fight but I thought a knife was the best I could do. I tried a spatula but that was a bit too hard to manage." There was a lumpy, sharp square at his desk still. "But I made things out of Crystal before. Nothing that big, but there is a lot here and - well I wanted to try a hobby." His claws also helped to not allow him to be cut as easily by the shards and even helped chisel out small parts. That didn't mean he didn't cut himself from time to time but the pads of his hand were harder than soft finger flesh.
"I - think it could help with something today too." To which it took off it's collar.
"I had the Mauvian Tiberius upgrade my collar, but I need to test it out to be sure it is working perfectly. But it is a bit dangerous to ask a stranger."

Who would have thought that something as delicate and elegant as a crystal knife could have been crafted from something within the Rift?
The thought of a spatula made of crystal was honestly horrifying, it would scratch up all of his pans, but he kept that to himself.
"I do, I very much love this, thank you! I will take very good care of this, a precious gift from a precious friend." Curiously, he watched as Vivre took off his collar, unable to connect the dots of what his knew gifted knife would have to do with the collar.
"An upgrade hmm? An upgrade to do what?

"To take damage." It said as it pointed to the small crystal studs inside the collar.
"I have the luxury of not having to lie or answer to anyone if I get hurt and that leaves me to recover in peace. Not only that but I'm used to a cut or tear. I asked Tiberius if it was possible to magically transfer damage from one person to another and it seems it was. I gave him my collar to get started. It should be doable now but I haven't tested it on anyone. I want to know it works before a real fight."
It out the collar back on and smiled. "I wanted to ask if I could cut you."

Mali turned the blade in his hand one more time before letting it vanish into his pocket space, assured it would stay safe and sound there.
"I'm not sure how I feel about you using yourself as a catalyst for others' pain. Logically it makes sense. You are a half youma, not needing to explain your injuries to another person in your civilian life. It's great tool to help those who need to keep their injuries to a minimum but... Are you sure this is a tool you want to use?" He reached over to the collar, running a thumb over the crystals he could see.
The Negaverse approved of such a thing. A cat thought it was a good idea to do such a thing...
Mali simply chalked up the idea as another reason to despise the Negaverse.
"Despite my protests, I'll help you test it out. Though I will not use the gift you've given me to do so. I'd rather not have it taste human flesh and blood just yet. Do you have something else we could use, perhaps? Why not your claws?"

"I'm fine with it in emergencies or for those with family. It would be hard to go home and explain to someone why you are banged up over and over. It cost money to go to the doctors. It could worry your friends and lovers. I can just go to the Infirmary and rest. It's easier for me to heal and I'm already a cut-up mess. One more scar doesn't bother me. I won't even notice it. It might even keep someone having their job." It said and stared at Mali's face. "Sometimes a cut can ruin a lot."
"I can use my claws if you don't want me using the knife. They are clean too so there won't be any burning." It admitted. "Can we sit down. I wouldn't want you to get dizzy and fall. We can even go to my room if you want."

When he put it that way... Alright, 'Mali could concede to it's usefulness. The first person to come to mind was Lori, and how it could help her if she happened to get slashed across the face. As they say, her face was her money maker, and the moment it was ruined, she'd be out of work.
At Vivre's suggestion, Mali sat down were he was, legs crossed.
The last time he was in Vivre's room alone with him, things didn't really go all that well, and he wasn't quite sure if he was ready to be alone with him like that again. His heart was erratic enough as it was around the halfling.
"Claws are fine. Where would you like to test? How bad of an injury does it need to be if you think I may get dizzy? If you are to inflict his on yourself, then you should choose where it goes... Hmmm... Maybe we should move to your barrack room, I'm sure you have some sort of bandage for after this, right?"

"Maybe across the chest. Not deep enough to cause serious injury but enough to bleed. It's easier to access and has fewer veins close to the skin like legs and arms." It said a d offered both of its hands to help lift Mali to his feet. "And better to undress in my room then out here. I have bandages there." It kept a kit stocked for whenever it trained too rough with Faustite. Bootcamp had it restocking the box often.
"Just this way." It said and took Mali's hand to lead him through the barracks to it's room.
The place was relatively the same as before. Very basic furnishings but with a newer, thicket blanket. It seemed the other one was now just a ragged piece of cloth by it's pillow and the new blanket relatively untouched by chewmarks. There still was the lingering smell of almonds there among it's pillow. Chunks of crystal sat on its desk now in various shapes of half-finished creations. The small bookcase had a few more books. A small TV, second hand, was atop the dresser. A few DVDs beside it. Crawling beside that were two gray blobs with one eye each. One seemed to have a part of it dented out. They made no noise as they sluggishly moved.
Gesturing to the bed, Vit shirt the door and then moved over. "Can you take off your shirt?" It asked as it then knelt down before him.

No.
No it was not better to undress in Vivre's room than outside the barracks. Out there it felt much more professional. More contained and public than back in Vivre's room. But it was too late.
Those clawed hands he adored so much had already taken his own hand, and he couldn't protest as he was led away.
Was his face red yet? It certainly felt as if it was on fire, even if his face remained neutral.
It was one hell of a whirlwind trip by the time he regained his senses, it hardly felt like they had moved at all. There was no mistaking that sweet almond smell, though. The last time he had been in here, not including the times he snuck in to leave treats on Vivre's desk, he didn't have any time to look around.
The crystals and books were new, as was the TV. All of them unfamiliar blobs compared to the familiar blobs he remembered when he didn't have his glasses.
Except the ones on the desk that slowly inched around.
"What in the world...? Vivre what are those---" Having been distracted by the interesting goop on the desk, he hadn't noticed the door shut, or Vivre getting on his knees before him. If Mali wasn't red before, he most certainly was now, and is spread from his cheeks, to his ears, and own his neck
"Um... How about you stand back up...? There's no need to be on the floor. I can sit on the bed, correct? I.. Uh... I'll be easier to reach that way, on a comfortable surface and you can stand. I'll be sure not to bleed all over the place." Try as he might, he was flustered, words coming out rushed as he pretty much marched to the bed and sat down neatly. The question about the shirt was immediately missed.

Vitriol looked over at what Mali was referring to. "Oh...uh. I'm not really sure. General Obsidian gave us them when we finished his training session. I think they are a small part of a bigger youma. I just keep them around cause I think they are alive and I'm sure the other youma would eat it." Not that it would taste good. It had already tried that to one of them.
From its spot on the ground, it glanced up and slowly stood back up again. "I thought it would be better to be eye level to the cut I was giving you. The light isn't great in my room. I don't want to go too deep." It said but decide to sit beside Mali instead.
"I can't stand when I'm cutting you. The angle will be off. We can both sit then." Vitriol turned and rested on knee bent on the bed as it watched.
"I'll need your shirt off." It said again, and it noticed how quickly Mali was speaking. "I won't do anything. Okay?"
