Basic OOC Introduction

Hello and welcome to the first opportunity to join the N'ezi-Ozu of 2019! Generally speaking the N'ezi-Ozu only have openings twice a year, corresponding with each Solstice. However, due to the time the solstice is falling this year (particularly around Christmas), we're tweaking the dates slightly to make it easier to participate.

Joining is open for an extended period of time to allow you and myself/Ded to make the necessary arrangements and role for the appropriate houses in ample time.

If you have any questions/concerns, you can hit us up and we'll try our best to answer them but for now, there are just a couple of rules that you'll need to be aware of in an IC environment...

As always, N'ezi members are encouraged to come and say hello to anyone who is new and make them feel welcomed!

The Basics of the N'ezi-Ozu

There are a few things that you'll need to know when joining the N'ezi-Ozu and we hope you'll take the time to read all the information that is already available to you. BUT for ease of reading we've compiled the key rules that you must follow if you want your lion to join.


• There can be no evil lions. The N'ezi-Ozu have a gifted seer in the form of Nche who can detect the truth within a lions heart. Those who are cruel, evil, or will otherwise cause harm will be rejected from the pride.
  
  
• There can be no pregnant females. It is impossible for Nche, the seer, to detect the intentions of an unborn child. All families and the children within them must be adolescent or older.
  
  
• You may only apply for one lion to join per year, choose wisely.
  
  
• Certain ranks are restricted, you will not be able to choose these i.e. Amusu/Onyeisi
  
  
• If you have a lion plotted to be with another who is already in the pride, then you cannot join the same family as they belong to when you first enter the pride; doing so would make them your sibling!

Joining Process
Joining during this particular event will be a little different to enable Ded to have a little breathing space; while ICly you can assume that your lion has formally encountered Nche and had their heart read, only the Onyeisi (Itiri) will be guaranteed to give you a reply.

In terms of the IC protocol the order of events for your lion would be...

• They request to join.
  
• Nche looks into their heart and sees their true intentions.
  
• A house/family is revealed to them.
  
• As Onyeisi, Itiri observes these and would therefore know which family they will be joining.

The OOC Joining request process is below...

• Please post the form below and make your first IC post with your lion.
  
• Assume that the above has happened and Nche has spoken (Ded may reply if she has time).
  
• The Onyeisi, Itiri, will then greet your character and address them directly. He will welcome them formally to their new family. This is the point where Epine will roll in her post for the house that this new lion will be part of.
  
• You may then continue to introduce yourself to any onlookers who have come to watch the proceedings.
  
• Once you have followed these steps you can post for your cert and link the approvals.
  
• Make sure you update your ownerlist post too!

Syntyche had lived alone in the rogue lands since she was very young, she felt rejected by her family treated like she was cursed because she had been born blind. She didn't trust others easily, but she had grown tired of hunting on her own in the rogue lands, so when she heard about the Nezi pride she decided she would seek them out and lead a quieter life where she didn't have to face the world alone, but she likely would have to make close friends either. She arrived to seek entrance into the pride meeting with Nche the seerer who was said to be able to see into her heart. He would see that her heart was clouded by doubt in herself that she was nothing, not beautiful, not special, not enough, but there was no evil in her heart. "I am Syntyche and I request to join the Nezi pride." She said in a quiet respectful tone. It was easy to see her eyes saw nothing, she did not make eye contact her eyes staring straight ahead of her.

Dinara observed the surrounding area with a look of someone intrigued by what was happening around her. A new (for her) place, an interesting culture, and a chance to make the kind of home she wanted. Leaving her family had been hard... but the lioness was nothing if not determined. She wanted a fresh start somewhere new, somewhere different, where she wouldn’t end up in the shadow of her siblings.

With a sigh, she made herself forward, ready to request entrance into the pride. It didn’t take too long to spot the people she needed to talk to about it. With joining now open, a decent amount of rogues had congregated around the Onyeisi and the seer.

Tail flicking behind her, she gave a nod to them as she approached. “My name is Dinara, and I would like to join.” Her voice was soft but determined.

Sawa made her way to the area where the new joining rogues would be welcomed into the pride and placed into a family. It hadn't been that long ago that the bright female had been in their pawprints and she wanted to extend a warm welcome to them and to hopefully answer any questions they might have. While she certainly wasn't an expert on the pride, she had learned a lot in being here for the half year or so that she had been.

Already there were two lionesses gathered, declaring their intent to join, and Sawa sat down to wait and see where they would be placed. She hoped for a few more siblings to join her family but she would of course greet them regardless of where they ended up. Sawa offered them a warm smile and a little bob of her head in greeting, but otherwise remained quiet and still. They'd come to her once they were ready.

It had been Syntyche that had first held Nche's gaze; there had been a tense moment as there always was during these moments and then the dark lioness passed his test. It seemed that she was true of heart and with approval granted, it was his turn to step forward and offer a warm smile.

In the last period of joining he had stood off to the side, failing to make his presence known and to fully introduce himself to those who were new. It had backfired, he'd needed their views and as some weren't entirely aware of who he was this had proved to be difficult. Thus, he had elected to take a proper role in this event and ensure that both he and those joining had both a friendly face and an awareness of who and what he was.

...That way, if they did feel overwhelmed, they would know where to find him.

"Welcome," he said as he raised his paw to offer the small set of bones that would make her part of the Mberede family. They had yet to be woven in to chord, but this would be the next step she would take in to the N'ezi-Ozu. The bulk of the work had been done for her, she just needed to finish it up by placing the bone on the chord and placing it on her neck.

"The Mberede family will be delighted to have you." He added with a nod towards those whose faces would eventually become familiar to her...

Another somewhat tense moment, and another demonstrated that her heart was true. Dinara was the next to receive the seers approval and in doing so, it appeared Sawa got her wish. Itiri swept the bones of the Aguu family into his paws and extended them towards the curly-furred lioness. Dinara seemed to come from a region that did odd things to her coat, but no doubt the less salty climate would eventually lead to it softening.

"The Aguu family," He murmured with a smile as he glanced briefly towards Sawa and gave a rather pointed nod. "Are already ready to embrace you; welcome to the N'ezi-Ozu." He added and cleared his throat as he took a step back.

He wouldn't keep Dinara long, not while she would already have someone to greet her and explain the ways of that particular family. Much like Syntyche the young lioness would need to complete the final steps to finish her necklace, but in the eyes of the Onyeisi she had already become one of them the moment Nche had confirmed her to have good intentions.

Epine de Rose

Sy was shocked to have received a gift as soon as she entered the pride, she had never been given a gift before she felt the cord and bones in her paw and she felt a strange connection to these lions she had never felt with her own family who had shunned her as defective. She had not been expecting to feel any warmth for the members of this pride, but this small gift meant a great deal to her. She listened to the name of her new family perhaps this would truly be a good path for her. "Thank you." She said softly. She was unable to see where he was gesturing and the male had not seemed to notice she could not see him, nor had he remarked on it. "I am blind by the way." She said, "So if you are gesturing." She said in a quiet tone.

Zuru was excited he had been hoping for more members of the Mberede family and here she was. Syntyche. His new sister. He grinned and stepped forward. "I am Zuru a member of the Mberede family, I can show you the family caves where you will be living and show you around the territory." He said in an excited tone. He turned to Nche and smiled "Nice move." He said with a grin gesturing to the gift that had not been done when he had joined the pride. He was glad his concerns had been taken seriously. He had felt a little adrift when he had first joined without a piece of the Nezi people to help him feel like he really belonged there. There was no reason for Syntyche to feel that way.

Dia Muerta was an outsider who had joined during the first gathering of new bloods when the pathway was opened. She was from a small pride that had been dying out. There had been very little food, water and potential mates in her homeland. So Dia left her family to seek out a new home, in her travels she learned of the Nezi who had similar beliefs to her people. She still found it rather odd that they did not celebrate the dead in grand festivals it was so quiet but she had suggested a more brightly colored celebration for the dead to settle the restless spirits and perhaps that would happen soon. Dia had been placed in the Ahuojoo family. She sat down watching the newcomers and listening to Nche to see if any of the new bloods would be in her family.

And so another stepped forward to be regarded with interest, and once again they were found to be true. Itiri was delighted to say the least as it had always been one of his concerns that at some point in time there would be someone who would be spurned.

It was with a smile on his lips that he stepped forward to welcome the rather young face to their world. With scarcely a mane on him the lion had only just come of age, but he'd do well here once he found his stride.

Reaching out with his paw, he offered the lion the necklace that would bind him to his new family, and from there, Itiri would watch with interest to see where life might take him.

"The Aguu will bid you greeting," he murmured.

He paused momentarily in regards to Syntyche's declaration before shaking his head. While she may be blind he could only hope that it was for less unpleasant reasons than one of their younger souls. Blindness was not something new to them and so long as she could function, he had no doubt she would be useful in the coming years.

"You have survived this long without sight," he chuckled. "I have no doubt you will continue to thrive here as well," he added. Admittedly she may not be able to hunt properly, but she had survived, so with that in mind she was bound to have talents that would prove invaluable to them...

For now though, he would watch and wait to see whether his assumptions were right!

Sy sighed he was not understanding what she was saying it wasn't that she was saying she was less able to take care of herself, she was trying to tell him she didn't know where he was sending her if he had been using gestures since she couldn't see them. Then she turned to the sound of a new voice as Nche was taking care of a new member. Zuru her new family member had stepped forward offering to take her to her new home. She nodded to him and then said "Thank you Zuru that would be very helpful." Once she knew the path and scents she wouldn't need anyone's help. She sat down "I would like to listen to the others arrive for now before we go though." She said softly as she sat off out of the way in an area with fewer sounds and scents.

Zuru laughed when Nche totally missed that Sy was trying to tell him she couldn't see any path to anywhere, but he would help her and Nche was super busy anyway so it was no big deal. He sat down with her and then said "That is fine I'll wait with you and then we can go to the family homes." He said in a friendly tone. He listened as a young lion was entered into the famine family.
