A small, dimly lit room filled knock knacks and treasures. A lamp lit on thensouthern table. A small, well abreasted faun on the floor scrubbing under her bed with viscious intent.

The mushrooms were becoming a frequent side effect to her dreams. They were such lovely dreams, and then she woke up. And to a mess to. The bed was always crawling mold and mushrooms after those dreams. But she honestly had no idea how to let it out without destroying herself or her room.

So when she was done scrapi g the last of the mushrooms up and cleaning their previous home space, she threw the brush in the bucket, wiped her forehead, and went for a walk. She wasnt sure on what time it was, but at least she could get a snack.

Those dreams always left her hungry.

Sven's alcove had everything in the place it was meant to be. He'd checked it over not once, not twice, but thrice to make sure it was so. The jug of water was in the place for a jug of water, the reading materials he'd borrowed from the archives was carefully stacked on a table, his bed was made and the sheets folded in just the right way.

Yes. After probably far too much time, everything was perfect and he was ready to go.

He opened the door to the inner tree slowly as he tried to minimize the amount of dust (or others' views) coming in. In just about every sense of the word, he was about as eccentric as everyone else in his family... if only behind closed doors. Much like his name, he was generally better equipped to function as a member of faun society.

While today was appointed a day of leisure for him, he was heading to the kitchen not for work, but to experiment using some of the previously-mentioned reading materials for inspiration. There were a few dishes he'd like to try making on his own in small batches before proposing they incorporate it into the meals at a larger scale. Perhaps first at Mojo's, but maybe to the communal meals if all went well... Which they would as long as he was meticulous about his steps.

His steps as he walked that way were, as a matter of fact, all precisely at the same stride and pace.

Kara hummed a little to her self as she raided the fridge for more macadamia nuts. She loved those little things. Each one was a bright burt of su shine. And she knew she had left them in fridge, somewhere.

Crouching down, she dug towards the back and grinned as she pulled out a small bag of the nuts from behind the cabbage. She knew sticking it back there would be safe.

Pulling herself up, she shut the fridge and began opening the bag with her teeth. When she turned around though, the bag still in her mouth, the presence of a pale jauntily fellow scared the dicken out of her and she squeaked.

Unfortunately, her hands were still on the nuts, so she ripped the bag in half, sending nuts flying everywhere. She quickly crossed herself, spun, and then spoke to the spirit.

"I'm....i-i-i-i'm afraid we've lost all our n-n-n-nuts." She barely managed to choke out in anything more than a whisper. "T-t-they exploded."

She made a grand, yet shakey gesture toward the kitchen as a whole. Spirits were real and there was one here and she was struggling with the decision to run or stay and hope it moved thru her and on.

Sven likewise made a surprised sort of noise upon making eye contact with the startled female he'd not expected to see. Nor the extreme mess she'd expected her to make.

He blinked as he watched the bag lose its contents in seemingly slow-motion. They truly were going everywhere.

After a moment passed from her talking, his eyes scanned the room at the absolute mess she'd made of his station. Nope. Nope nope nope. This was not going to work, absolutely not. Messes were not allowed in his kitchen, especially when he was about to start using this kitchen. It needed to be clean to be used.

Without a word he walked over to where some of the nuts had fallen and crouched down as he started to pick some up.

While she had hoped he would move on, it seemed the spirit of the kit ch en....was.....cleaning?

Kara-boo gave the ghost an odd look as he began picking up the nuts she had so haphazardly scattered everywhere. "S..s..so you don't want to eat my soul?" She whispered, wondering why on earth he had chosen to clean.

Didn't spirits have...otherworldy.... business to attend to?

Pausing his cleaning to look over at the girl who'd made this mess and was not attempting to help clean it up, he raised an eyebrow as he looked with mild contempt. "Last I checked, I can't eat souls, no. I want to cook, but now my station is dirty, so I cannot cook."

Glancing up at her, then down to the mess, then back up, he continued, "Well, you made this mess, get at it. Help me clean it up."

Having said his piece, Sven resumed picking up nuts.

Karaboo nodded rapidly, before dropping onto her knees and attempting to pick the nuts up. What ghost boy, wanted, ghost boy got.

Only she wasn't paying attention to what she was cleaning and somehow bumped into Sven, dingleballed horns first.

Gasping, she leapt back a solid foot and asked "Are you ok? I didnt know ghosts could become corporeal! I'm so sorry. Please don't eat me." She ended in a whisper, terrified that this spirit would turn into a poltergeist and ruin her day.

Good, good girl. One must always clean up their messes. He offered a solitary nod now that the tasks had been properly delegated before resuming his section. At least until he was bumped and the nuts were once more sent flying.

.
.
.

He may have turned his head overly dramatically after a pause to make no efforts to shield his annoyance at what had just happened. In fact, he was probably making quite the glare, which quickly switched to a mix of contempt and confusion at her words. "Ghost?! By Earthmother what? Are you serious?" It looked like she was serious. "First off, how could I even eat you if I was a ghost - I wouldn't have a stomach." He reached over to scratch at his arm as he eyed the mess that was once more about. Nope nope nope. "No, I don't even eat meat... Look, are you going to clean up your nuts of not."

Karaboo nodded, eyes wide. She bent down to pick up the nuts again only to pause and sweep her eyes over Sven. "Gh- spi- YOU are vegan?" She asked, curious.

"So, how does that affect your....life?" She asked, trying to figure a way around the ghost part. He seemed to upset whenever he heard the word 'ghost'.

"I am not vegan, i am vegetarian. It's not like it's uncommon here." In fact, it was so common to be vegetarian that a majority of the communal dishes prepared were made with that in mind. Being a member of the kitchen staff, he would know. "It literally has no effect whatsoever other than where I source my proteins and fats." That being eggs, nuts, etc instead of meat.

He spoke as they continued to clean, not bothering to look over at her and fully absorbed in his task.

Kara-boo nodded and continued picking up her side of the kitchen. She paused again as another thought hit her. "Of course you have a stomach. I've heard all kinds of stories about gh-" she paused and scrunched her face as she almost tripped up. Looking quickly down at her nuts that she started to pick up, she quickly replaced the words.

"Er...Pale pae eating all manner of things. Tho you do have a point about veganism being common. I guess I just got startled for a moment." What else was she supposed to think when she ran into a ghost in the kitchen?

Pausing AGAIN, she eyes Sven up and down. "Can I ask what you were going to cook?" She hedged a bit before adding "With the nuts?" and a small shake of her broken bag.
PostPosted: Sat May 16, 2020 12:20 pm

He continued quietly, almost finished with the new task, as she resumed speaking. "Well yes, I imagine all pae have stomachs regardless of their fur color?" He certainly hadn't heard of anyone lacking for one; how would they stay alive? That said, it didn't seem like she'd really listened to him. "No, veganism is pretty rare, but being vegetarian is common here." There were only so many alternatives to honey, milk, or eggs.

Now as for what he was going to cook.

Pausing, his area fully cleaned now, he seemed quite confused. "I... don't actually remember anymore." Ah shoot.

Kara-boo stared at Sven in confusion. "But...." no. He had to of come down here for a reason. Surely....

Oh dear coconuts milk. She had found his unfinished business. Karaboo reigned in her excitement. No use scaring off the ghost. He didnt seem unfriendly. But maybe if she could help him cook, she'd help him move on.

It wouldnt do to leave a ghost in the kitchen.

Returning the broken bag and what nuts she held in her hand to the table, she gently broached her idea.

"Seeing as how I'm confused on the difference between vegetarianism and veganism, perhaps you would like to show me a decent vegan meal?" She offered. and get the heck out "than maybe we could both retire to our bedrooms in peace?"

Or in his case, to the great beyond.

Sven added the nuts he'd picked up to her own, fully perplexed as to what in the world he had even been doing here in the first place. It had be for a reason... Unlike his brother, he didn't often act on whims.

Thankfully (or not), the fauness beside him offered a request of her own.

Meh, good enough of an idea as any. "Sure, why not. Do you have anything in mind you'd like to eat?"

She thought about his question. Her gaze wandered about the room amd landed on her own hands. She had a brilliant idea.

"Perhaps something that uses mushroom?" She asked, side eyeing the ghostly faun. Maybe he could teach her how to cook with the things she so actively seemed to grow. Spores.

Pointing at the fridge, she cleared her throat and said "I believe we ha e some in there?"
