Opens: May 1st Closes: May 31st at midnight EST It's Bunyip Appreciation Month! In honor of these mysterious creatures the Bunyip Conservation Committee or BCC for short, has set up a month long event in the park. Come be part of the fun and show support for your favorite gentle giants! At least, that's what the flyers say - and they seem true to their word, because when you arrive at the park, it's buzzing with festivities. As you move under the hand-painted banner archway, which proclaims, Adopt a Bunyip Today!, you find that the excited energy of the festival is contagious. Several vendor booths haphazardly crowd the circular walkway outlining the Adoption Tent at the heart of the festival. From a distance one might think the circus was in town. Along the path, merchants are selling handmade Bunyip harnesses, home-baked organic treats, accessories such as jackets and bows, and even more novelty items like "Bunyip Beer," which is safe for them to drink! Though still a recently discovered species it would seem as though bunyips have already stolen the heart of many. While most product were bunyip themed some of these vendors are selling product for familiars and other shapes and sizes, as well - signs proclaim, bring your Vespercat on a walk, or give your Crocobee the hive he deserves!Inside the Adoption Tent, the atmosphere is a bit quieter so as not to disturb these gentle giants. There are a few tables where you can play games - for just a small donation, you can pick a lollipop and, depending on what color is on the bottom of the stick, you can earn a Bunyip plush and learn a Bunyip fact! A hand-written sign informs you that all proceeds go directly toward Wild Bunyip Habitat Conservation. And finally, the main event: Bunyip Adoption! From where you stand you can see a large pen where a handful of bunyips are playing with balls most likely to heavy for you to lift. Upon request these gentle giants are brought out on leashes held by adoption volunteers, who chat to interested adopters about each beast's temperament and history. A table is set up nearby, which has a zoologist who specializes in Bunyips ready to answer any questions a visitor might have. There's so much to do here - where will you start? Rules: You may only claim one of each familiar/plush per person. To claim a familiar or trinket you much rp an interaction! RP actions do not have to strictly adhere to the prompt above. Please follow Gaia ToS. Keep it friendly and Have fun! Be respectful of other people's characters, its just RP Don't force plots if someone isn't willing.
Special thank you to Skie and Ducky for all their help with making this ORP a reality!

Reece sat proudly in her volunteer vest. Having two bunyips of her own at home she jumped at the chance to help out with this event. She knew taking care of these beasts was not for everyone but she didn't regret at second of it. Her shoulder might however. Reece had taken notice of a vendor on her way in selling custom fit harnesses for bunyips. They must be made of something very durable. This stall was definitely a must to check out on her break, the arm brace wouldn't hold together forever.

Vega walked into the event, disinterested at first. He really didn't have an interest in familiars in general; they were too much to take care of and he really did like having a clean apartment.
Except, recently, he was drifting more away from that nitpicking lifestyle. His relationship with Emmerate was making him more adventurous; which was why he was here. He mingled around the stands for a bit before he finally moved to the tent, walking in. Immediately, he walked towards one of the volunteers with a brace.
"I'm uh... here to meet the bunyips?" he tried.

Reece rose from her chair as someone approached the tent. They seem wary but did express interest which was a start. "Well thats good because we have plenty of bunyips who are more than happy to meet you". She gestured to the large pen behind her where five bunyips were playing amongst themselves. Three were playing with a ball. One was wading in a kiddy pool and the last was sitting in the corner watching the passers by. "Anyone particular you interested in seeing? I can bring one up to the front" The more interaction these bunyips got with good people the better. So, she would take any opportunity to socialize them she could. If she happened to find them homes, even better.

Niamh walked shyly towards the big, main tent of today's event, standing very close to Sathe, because there were a LOT of people here... But at the same time, she looked excited and eager. These were, in some ways, HER people... Fellow lovers of familiars, people who wanted to care for and protect the various wonderful familiars of their worlds, and given that she would give up her own bed if she had to for a familiar... This place was kind of like a feeling of coming home.
But it was still a lot of strangers, and she was nervous amongst them. "Sathe, this IS a good idea, right?" She whispered to him, her hair half over her face as she looked side long at the baphomet who accompanied her, helped her feel safe, and in general, was the best person she knew. "I mean. I... There's so many people, Sathe."
And then they were at the tent, and going through the doors, and it was too late for her worries to be really feasibly dealt with.

Larak had been thinking he might need a companion for some time. One that didn't talk back, but would help get him out of the house more. For quite some time, he had been considering getting a Vespercat, with their sleek feline appearance being quite appealing to him. Then, he found out how high maintenance they could be. Maybe something more dormant, like a Salamander, he thought.
He never thought he would get a Bunyip. They were too large, for one thing. Larak's home had a small backyard and while he liked to think he got out and about more than the average Nightmare, he wasn't knowledgeable enough to know what a Bunyip would require.
Yet, when he passed by the Bunyip Adoption Event, he took pause. Eventually, he approached the various vendors. The things that were being advertised were for familiars, naturally, of which he didn't have. He almost turned around and left, but something swayed him to enter the Adoption Tent at last.
There was a volunteer speaking to someone as he walked in. Not about to interrupt them, he walked around to where he could observe the bunyips. He glanced over the three that were playing among themselves or in the kiddy pool. The bunyip that his eyes lingered on was the one sitting in the corner, watching the scene. In turn, he watched it. He was very familiar with the scene of sitting in a corner quietly and watching the world pass him by. He just hadn't realized that familiars did too.

Sathe casually looked around as they approached, both keeping an eye out for potential trouble, and making sure his friend didn't stray too far away from him. This wasn't necessarily his idea of fun, but it didn't seem too bad, and Niamh would hopefully enjoy it a lot. Tagging along for something that made his chimera charge happy was worth any admission price. Though he was pretty sure this event was free... There was the usual assortment of vendors scattered about, so there was that too.
He smirked over at her, nodding a little, "Looks like a pretty nice event, don't see a reason why it wouldn't be a good idea." Sathe hadn't expected her to be this nervous, but he was fairly used to her moods and fears, and did what he could to make her more comfortable. "Don't worry, I'm right here with you. Shall I properly escort you, perhaps?" He held out an arm for her, partly in jest, but having her near was not something he would pass up either. It was a pleasant, warm sensation, if not only because it was easier to protect her that way.

"Alright... Alright. Just a lot of people, you know?" She said, softly, as she passed by the Bunyip trivia lollipops... She could try for that later... to go over to the Bunyip pen. To her, this was the whole point of being here, after all. She did look at him for a moment, when he offered his arm... and took it, hooking her arm through his, for the comfort. Then she refocused... She wanted to see the Bunyips they were working on getting adopted. She looked over the pen, her eyes wide, and it would be pretty clear to Sathe, who knew her best, that she was having to fight the urge to say "I'll take them ALL home!"
"They're so cute, Sathe... I want them. I know I have to be good, I can't just bring home a hoard of bunyips, but... it's so tempting, Sathe..." She said, softly, not trying to be overheard for the moment. She would get the volunteer's attention when she was ready to make a decision... Right now, she was trembling between 'adopt them ALL' and 'how can I just choose one, it's not fair to them!'

Cordula looked around the event so much was going on it was amazing and curious she didn't have a familiar at all so she had room in her dorm room to house a bunyip, they were big but she wasn't frightened she wanted to know more about them so she could adopt one and take them home with her. She looked around for a volunteer who would be able to answer her questions about these special familiars. She walked up to the pen where they were playing with a ball. Her wings tucked against her back. She watched one, in particular, her eye on a light brown on with pink and yellow mane and tail.

Aiday had loved the stars since she was a freshling, she was still shy with those she didn't know, once upon a time she hid under tables during festivals to avoid the crowds. Now she was a little nervous but she still made her way to the pen and looked at the starry sparkly bunyip. She looked at them with a dreamy expression and smiled. She didn't know anything about these familiars, or familiars in general since she only had one familiar. She wondered what this type of familiar was like, she hoped they were gentle. They looked so big. She wondered if that would make them hard to care for.

Archimedes looked at the event, adoption event huh? He once would have just kept to himself he had one familiar and that had been more than enough since others tended to leave and it was hard to believe that others did care and wouldn't leave him as his parents had long ago. He had been angry and hurt about that for such a long time, that it had been ingrained in the wood of his life, till he met Avalon and learned to open his heart to family again. He felt like he had been brought back to life. Now the past was just that the past and that handsome bunyip could be a new part of his family.

Gin was in love with love, she had a very big heart and a familiar adoption event was just the place for her. She was ready to love any familiar no matter what it took or what she needed to do to take care of it. She looked at everything going on and then to the pen filled with bunyips playing with a ball her eye was drawn to a red bunyip with green hair that reminded her of a strawberry which was too cute for words, she was in love at first sight and needed to know what she needed to do to take them home.

Chai wasn't sure she would be allowed to adopt a familiar since she didn't have a senior with her, she was a ward of the school and she lived in the dorms, she lived by herself in an Enoch dorm room since her grandmother had left her a lot, but she had no one to share anything with. She had memories of her grandmother having tea parties with her, but that was all Chai had left that she really loved and her tea sets. She was a little bit lonely and hoped the adoption beings would let her adopt a bunyip. She walked up to a table and looked up hoping someone would notice her.

It was no surprise that Gaius had instantly dropped everything he was doing once he laid eyes upon one of the alluring flyers. All it boasted about and promised was completely up his alley, easily distracting the nature loving hallow.
With his small pack of the familiars he'd brought with him today surrounding his form, the guardian surveyed the display with bright and interested eyes. While most would possibly take his demeanor to be lackadaisical, due to how lidded his gaze was, the boy was so very fascinated. The precious companions he'd brought with him were too, beady eyes blinking and flickering with intrigue to the games, sounds, scents, and sights.
In his delight of finding this lovely event at the park he'd sent a text to his recent acquaintance that too loved nature seemingly as much as he did! it only seemed right, after all. Fellow nature lovers should bask in the glory of such a celebration!
