Ciel found herself walking across the crystal campus after returning from getting a late night snack. She had decided to stay home tonight as she had a test tomorrow. She took a bite of the dessert crescent she had bought. That was when she heard the horrifying inhuman sound, something between a roar and a screech. She knew the sound could only have come from one thing, a youma.
Ciel took one last big bite of her crescent before she tossed it into a nearby trash can. She took off running as she summoned her weapon to her transforming into Hyperborea as she ran towards the source of the sound. The aura lead her to a courtyard where she saw a creature that was some sort of demonic fusion of a human with too long arms and a horse both of which were missing their skin.
Hyperborea saw the youma was menacing a crystal girl who was about her age. She had auburn hair and freckles. Hyperborea prepared to use her magic to save the girl, the star top of her staff glowing silver.

Jolene did not think herself an impractical person, really. She wasn't given to silly fantasies, except for the ones in books. So she was definitely not the type of person to hallucinate.
Except that was the only possible option for what she was seeing, because otherwise, she was staring at something straight out of her mother's fairy stories. It reminded her of nucklavees, except nucklavees weren't real, and there was no way this was happening.
She staggered back, and glanced around for anything to hide behind, and that was when her eyes fell on the woman, bedecked in gold and holding a prismatic staff, and her heart caught in her throat.
"What is going on?" She asked, and she wasn't sure if she was asking the woman or the universe.

A blast of intense silver starlight filled the entire area blinding both the youma and it's would be victim. Hyperborea moved quickly dispelling the light as she positioned herself between the monster and the crystal girl.
"Find somewhere to hide, I'll stop that thing." She promised the girl as as moved to strike the creature with her staff.
The creature reared up on it's hind legs to strike at Hyperborea. She dodge it with a speed no human could achieve. She struck the monster again.

Jolene yelped at the bright flare of light, bringing a hand up to shield her eyes, but even once it was gone, she was blinking spots out of her vision, so it took her a moment to really properly reorient herself. When she did, she stumbled to her feet and started backing away.
Except, at the corner of her vision, there was a flicker. A shine.
She turned towards it, and her eyes fell on a prism, inches from her face, dangling in the air.
What choice did she have, but to reach out and grasp it?
And in that moment, Caer Sidi awoke.
"My god," she whispered, feeling her strange new attire settle on her body. "What....is this?"

The young knight turned to look as a power signature appeared in her senses. A page, a new page had appeared where the other Crystal girl had been. "You're a knight." The white haired girl said absentmindedly.
Unfortunately the Youma took her momentary distraction as a chance to knocked the Knight aside. The blow didn't hurt but it was enough to knock Hyperborea off her feet. "Merde" She groaned as she got back to her feet to see the Youma had turned its attention back to it's original target.
"Girl watch out!" Hyperborea shouted as the Youma dashed towards the newly minted page.

Caer Sidi felt her heart rate spike, watching the other girl get knocked out f the way.
"What is a Knight?" She demanded. "No, wait, never mind--tell me once this thing is...is gone!" She ducked down and away, and found herself moving much faster than she was normally capable of.
She narrowed her eyes, as an idea came to her. She took a sharp breath, and moved to get next to its sides, and then, as it tried to turn to come at her again, hauled herself up onto its back, wrapping her arm around the thing's "throat" in the way she had seen chokeholds done on television.
She put all her weight into it, hauling backwards and trying to pull it down.

Hyperborea was able to rush over to help the new knight but it seemed like she didn't need to. She watched as the girl managed to get the monster into a basic choke hold. Good it looked like this girl at least had some combat instincts if nothing else.
Blowing a lose strand of hair out of her eyes Hyperborea made her way towards the struggling pair. She kept her staff ready in case the Youma managed to escape the girl but Hyperborea knew from experience that a page had the strength to take out a Youma if they were tenacious enough.
"Good work, put pressure on it's throat, don't let up till it's dust." Hyperborea advised. She watched as the creature thrashed until it's movement slowed and eventually stopped as the Youma turned into dust on the night wind.
Offering her hand to help the girl up. "Congratulations on your first Youma kill! My name is Hyperborea, I'm sure you have some questions."

On the other woman's advice, Caer Sidi put all her weight into holding it, even when it flailed and clawed at her to try and dislodge her. She absolutely refused to be moved--she would not falter or fail, not when this monster was doing its best to send her flying.
"I think it's almost--" she started, as its struggles slowed--but then, rather suddenly, it collapsed into dust underneath her, and Caer Sidi found herself unceremoniously dropped onto the ground. She grimaced, and took the other woman's hand so she could leverage herself back up, dusting off her new lovely white skirt.
"well. That...certainly was." She said. She let out her breath. "I'm--"
She started to say "Jolene," but that wasn't right, was it? Not now. Not in this form.
"Caer Sidi. That's my name." She exhaled. "Please. You seem to know what's going on. What...was that? What am I?" She hoped Hyperborea could give her some answers.Aurelius0815 and a fin for me! as discussed we can handwave the actual explanations LOL
