Welcome to the Touching of Starelth’s first clutch and the second green clutch! This Touching will run from: March 31st to April 14th. I will give individual responses to 6 eggs for each candidate. That’s per candidate, not player. So pick your choices carefully! =D Your candidate(s) can still touch all the eggs though. Please abide by the following rules: OOC Rules - All standard shop rules apply. - Please bold the name of the egg you desire a response from and quote magnadearel. - If you believe that the staff have missed your egg, please PM the writer of the egg to let them know. - Do not harass staff. They have lives and can't be replying every hour on the hour. - Do not dictate how eggs will react to your character, this is for the staff to decide. - You may post more than once with a single egg, or revisit it if you wish, but there won’t be a second response. Just so I’m not over whelmed. These rules are more flexible, but remember IC actions have IC consequences. IC Rules - Bow to the clutchmother before approaching the clutch. - No running, shouting or being disruptive. - Be gentle with the eggs at all times, both physically and mentally. Don’t try to move the eggs. - No firelizards on the sands. - Candidates were divided into several groups. All pc candidates are in the first group. The Eggs Shadow Egg- 2’7” Resting to the right of the clutch is a medium large dark egg with a few light spots upon its shell. Does its shell seem strangely cold even on these hot sands? When touched the egg acknowledges the candidates can’t help but find them beautiful. Woe any candidate who thinks this egg needs them though. You think Shadow needs you? Do you punk? Gradient Blue Egg- 2’9” Circles of deepening blue dot this light aqua large egg in the back of the clutch. The areas of darker blue divot into the egg slightly. This egg gives the impression that it likes to do things for itself. Don’t worry, it’ll get there eventually. Teal Stripe Egg- 1’7” A tiny egg at the front of the clutch. It’s a teal in color with darker stripes in raised ridges wrapping around it. When touched, there’s almost a sense of a head bob in greeting. You want to meet it yes? It would like to meet all of you if you do. Magenta Speckle Egg- 1’8” This decidedly pink and purple speckled tiny egg lounges against the large Shadow Egg. This egg is rough and feels like sand against one’s hand. This egg is patiently waiting for you to acknowledge them. It feels like it’s eager to make this a happy experience for everyone. Dark Purple Egg- 1’11” Front center of the clutch rests this medium-small egg. Or is it a small medium? There’s a few irregularities in this shell. Candidates who touch this egg receive a blank front, but perhaps they can lean on this dragon’s shoulder if they needed to. Maroon Red Egg- 2’8” Deepest red, this second largest egg sits in the back, slightly away from its clutchmates. It only has a lightly rough texture. The egg seems to sigh with patience resignation when a new hand touches it, it will put up with this if it has to. Sunset Egg- 2’3” This medium egg sits in the middle of the clutch and holds the colors of the sunset in perpetual beauty upon its shell. It’s shell is silky smooth but feels unusually hot. For those candidates that brave the heat, an overwhelming rush of images bombards their minds. Are they real or fake? It’s hard to tell. Leather Orange Egg- 2’4” Sitting in the center of the clutch, this medium bright orange egg looks like leather. Wait is that dragonhide? The egg feels unusually soft, fuzzy. When initially confronted, candidates may feel this egg is looking in at itself rather than out at them. When it does finally notice you though, what are you looking at pipsqueak? Yellow Green Egg- 2’6” A medium large egg on the left of the clutch that is molted green with a distinct yellowish ring upon it. The shell is strangely smooth. This egg feels like it can’t be held back. It’s a good egg but hesitant to reach out to others.

Starelth had been carefully tending her clutch. M’li had been frankly surprised by the number of eggs, but everyone seemed to be doing well. M’li was so proud of her dragon. She deemed the eggs were hard enough now for the candidates to come and touch. The candidates had been broken up into a few groups to space out the Touching so the eggs weren’t overwhelmed.
She had a light blouse and a long skirt on the morning of the first day of the Touching. M’li smiled as the candidates filed in. “Welcome everyone. Starelth and I are so happy you can be here for this. Please no pushing. If someone is already at an egg you want to touch, wait or go to another egg. Let’s keep this nice and orderly ok? I want to see you all at the hatching.”
M’li rested her hand against her green’s shoulder. She’d hope the kids would behave, but they’d both keep their eyes on them.

Rothgar / Candidate / Weyrherd Apprentice
Rothgar was very excited for today. He had been placed in the first group of candidates, so they would be the first to see the eggs up close. Talk about bragging rights! On the more serious side though, he was fascinated with the number of eggs born to a Green. That made the mother really quite special. On the sands he was sure to bow deeply and send a reverent greeting like his father had instructed him.
"She may only be a Green but upon her and her rider's shoulders rest the fate of Pern. No one can pay them enough respect." He was a traditional man, but when Lithustoth had hatched four healthy young dragons, his expectations had changed.
Maybe he will try to raise in ranks like he wanted to, Rothgar thought to himself as they broke up to meet the eggs. His father had never expected it, though early on he had had his own dreams for himself and his beloved Blue.
Back to the present, Rothgar felt certain pull and repel sensations as he approached the eggs. Now who was pulling at him? He passed the Shadow egg and was in awe by its beauty. He paused to gaze at it for a moment but continued on due to its repellant nature.
He came upon an egg almost the opposite of Shadow: the Sunset egg. It was so warm that Rothgar could feel its heat from several inches away. His hand hovered over it, just feeling that heat radiate. Then he touched it. It was hot! Oh wow. The shell's silky texture and the heat made him think of how a sweater can lock in heat when sitting by the fire. Llama wool, that was what it reminded him of. He met the surge of images with that nostalgia. "Oh, what are these images!" he murmured to himself. "Let me show you some images too!"
He thought of his father, R'ulfr and his Blue, and he explained. "They are my first reason for being here today." Memories of climbing on the big blue with his tiny infant hands, those fingers could only be his. "This is my llama whom I trust with my life and the herd's lives," he continued, showing a picture of the llama he most treasured and the countryside where they had grown up. He tried to "show" how it felt to run fingers through the thick fur and how soft the wool yarn and later a sweater could feel. "Can you feel that? It's kind of like your shell." A moment later he added, "These are my siblings. My brothers, my sisters." Their personalities, laughter, hugging, kissing, dancing, getting into trouble. They were all precious to him. "Are your siblings precious to you too?"

Maddeck / Apprentice Healer (medic)
Maddeck wound his way through the halls. He made a point to stop by the cavern where nine beautiful eggs now resided. He sent a greeting toward Starelth and paused in his tracks. He was not near the clutch but he could see the bright colors. Beautiful. Briefly he felt an overwhelming desire to touch the eggs. But he was busy, he had more work to do. One last glance and he was off again.

Fisher / Candidate / ?? a...fisherAll of this, every bit of this, was brand new to Fisher. The wearing of sandals, the whole bowing to the Green and her rider and this whole....okay, again, all of it. Fisher took it in stride though, she was nothing if not adaptable, and followed the exact instructions they'd been given. When the rider offered greetings and other stuff Fisher gave a bob of her head, thought about it, and moved into a deeper bow. This was all pretty cool. As a member of the first group to go in she didn't have to compete much to touch, and when people scattered Fisher just.....walked towards whichever egg happened to catch her fancy. This egg happened to be the Gradient Blue Egg, the largest one as far as the teen could tell, and she took a breath before placing a hand on the shell. W...what was she supposed to do next? Say hello out loud? Verbally say hello?? "Er. Hi." Fisher did both, wondering what was going to come next. People talked about touchings and hatchings as being incredibly life changing and thus the fisher was curious to see if this would live up to the hype. Now what?magnadearel touched gradient blue egg!

Oh hello! Did you like Sunset's pictures? They thought them up just for you. The presence within the egg seems particularly interested in Rothgar's proffered images. Oh oh! They can totally use those too! Rothgar can feel them filing away the images, but to what end? Starelth looked up from her clutch of eggs the candidates mingling between them to see one of the apprentice healers lurking at the entrance to the Sands. She nodded politely at his greeting then turned her attention back to the little humans among her children. Gradient Blue takes a moment before it seems to come around and notice Fisher. Greetings. A fisher hm? Which is better: fishing alone or together with others? They bet Fisher has seen many many interesting things out there. Do tell them about some of them wouldn't you?

Fisher / Candidate / ?? a...fisher"Err...together? Like you gotta work as a group on a boat most'a the time. You can do it alone but it takes a lot more effort." That...that was really weird. Despite there clearly not being a voice the young woman could feel a question. She had no reason not to answer (so she did) but the whole thing felt....well, weird. "I like the sway of the boat under my feet, an' the smell of the sea on my face. But you....uh...are an egg. You don't have feet. or a nose. Or...anything other than being an egg." Why was she talking to an egg?? magnadearel touched gradient blue egg!

Rothgar / Candidate / Apprentice Weyrherd "I loved them, yes!" A wave of appreciation flowed from Rothgar's mind. He did not recognize all of them but he did like to see something so amazing coming from an (unborn) infant's mind! You are amazing, he thought. I would like to show you them for real someday, and he could say that truthfully regardless of whom the egg chose. "I should go. Thank you for sharing," he said and stepped back. He looked around at the other eggs. Who felt compelling to him? Without thinking, his hand rested on an egg. "Oh!" Dark Purple egg received something similar to a pat on the shoulder as Rothgar hesitated, then shrugged. This one was a fine choice. "Hello! I'm Rothgar. Pleased to meet you, egg." It seemed as if it would not respond to him, and he wondered why. - - - Chellemana / Candidate / Apprentice Winemaker Chellemana and Nashanna stood together hand-in-hand until they were released to see the eggs. "Take your time, okay? I won't leave without you. Wait for me if I take longer." Chelle flashed a smile at their sister and headed off to look at the eggs. So pretty. They settled on the one closest, a little speckled wine-colored egg. "Hello. I'm Chelle." Magenta Speckle felt as sandy as their feet as the hot sand ground between foot and sandal. At first they tried to brush sand away, but discovered that the egg simply had that texture. I've never touched a dragon egg before, they admitted. I'm not really sure how to speak with a dragon either. Are you receiving my thoughts?- - - Nashanna / Candidate / Apprentice Glassmaker Nashanna nodded to the greenrider as they were instructed, then bowed to the Green mother. Thank you for allowing us to meet your kids, she sent. Nassah half-consciously stayed near Chelle. A younger sibling, it was sometimes difficult to behave independently. In this case, she stopped before the huge and beautiful Shadow Egg. Unlike Rothgar, she stayed when it flipped an attitude at her. Yeah, I think you need me! I'm better than-- her temper flared, then she realized her face was burning. She took a breath and nodded. Well, maybe you don't need me. Only you know for sure. But you need someone. Everyone needs someone.magnadearel Hopefully Nassah doesn't make anyone angry. xD;;;;;

Aessa was at the back of the first group, pale and twiddling a swatch of her dress between her fingers, trying not to be noticed while she worked to check her emotions. It would take prodding from the candidate master to get her to move. Finally, she stepped forward, into the light, and looked up at the green and her rider. For a long moment, she reminded onlookers of a frightened wherry staring into the maw of a hungry dragon, frozen in place and blank of mind. Finally, she gave a low bow to each and let it hang, perhaps too long before she straightened and turned towards the eggs on the sands to make her way over. Staring at the eggs and remembering her training, she felt reminded to calm herself again and took a few deep breaths before tallying who was at which egg. One at Gradient Blue, Dark Purple, Magenta Speckle, and the Shadow. She spent a long moment appreciating the setup the green mother had arranged so everyone could look at her eggs before stepping forward, leaning towards one of the smaller eggs towards the front. The Teal Striped Egg was the egg she would be looking at first. Something about it felt somehow comforting as she approached, and she smiled as it brought to mind all her own dreams of dragonriding and the routines they went through, before she settled next to it in the sands and gingerly lay her hand on it's shell. She found herself idly tracing what had almost seemed like racing stripes from farther away.

Melomar all the kids listed below =P Dark Purple @ Rothgar The pleasure is theirs, not that you could tell from their shell. Of course they knew Rothgar would be there to greet them and thus they waited for them right here. Their shell is sturdy if Rothgar needs to rest or pick his feet up from the hot sands. Magenta Speckle @Chellemana Welcome to the group Chellemana. They hope you have as much fun mingling with their siblings as they do. Touching is an important part of the weyr tradition! You should learn it well. Shadow @ Nashanna Oh no, Shadow doesn't need you little girl. You need Shadow. Which clearly you could tell cause you came to them first. They are the best of the whole clutch. Nope wrong. Shadow doesn't need anyone! Teal Stripe is very happy it was free for you to come to it. They really wanted to meet everyone. Would it be better for them all at once or is one on one better? Aessa can catch a faint hint of worry from the egg, although the reason is obscure.

Aessa sat stock still for a few moments, feeling the thoughts at her fingertips, and a silent question. After a long moment, she silently nodded. Well... Everyone is different. I... prefer small groups, but that's my own problem. She wondered what the dragon behind the shell thought, and how an individual exuding such confidence could have anything to worry about. Relax. You'll be fine, so will your siblings, and so will we. We'll all get to meet one another soon, for real. And there is at least one guaranteed to love every ounce of your hide.
(Hanging out by Teal Stripe a little longer, but I know Magna doesn't do double-replies from the same egg.)

Rothgar / Candidate / Apprentice Weyrherd I like you, egg. Thank you for the offer. So polite! But also sincere. Somehow he knew that if he wanted to, he could lean upon this egg and it would hold his weight comfortably, not that Starelth would approve. "I should go but we will meet again," Rothgar assured the egg. Rothgar was enjoying this strange but ancient event. So far the eggs had distinct personalities, quirks, and opinions. Each conversation was interesting on some level. But time was running short. His next visit would be... Yellow Green egg. "Hello," he said by way of greeting. The yellowy-green egg was smooth to the touch. Its hues reminded Rothgar of one of the hatchlings from the last hatching. She had also had a Green mother. "You know, you and your siblings are very special. Only one other time have eggs had a Green mother. It's very unique and important. Not that I want to pressure you. It's the special part that I wanted to emphasize." Oops. Well, there he was, rambling at a new face. Chellemana / Candidate / Apprentice Winemaker Nashanna / Candidate / Apprentice Glassmaker "Oh... well, thanks, I guess." Chellemana frowned a little. Hopefully this would be Chelle's first and last Touching at this Weyr. But the Weyr's traditions were very important to them, as this was their new home. "Thank you for reminding me, that is. You are very wise. Well... I would like to talk more but I need to go. It was nice to meet you." Chelle placed a hand on Nashanna's shoulder as they moved away from Magenta Speckle. "Why are you arguing with an egg? You should be getting to know them." Even so, Chellemana glared at Shadow and decided against meeting it. They were a little in awe at its ability to annoy their sister immediately upon meeting, though. "Then you'll be very lonely if you think you don't need anyone!" Nashanna huffed at Shadow egg, jumping when her sibling touched her shoulder. "I am getting to know it. It's just... insufferable!" She stuck her tongue out at the egg and moved away from it. Nassah looked around and tried to decide on someone to meet. She stopped before Leather Orange egg. "Hullo," she muttered as she placed her hand upon it, surprised by its almost fuzzy texture. "I'm Nashanna." Connecting with the egg was a little disorienting, but she blamed Shadow for feeling a little dizzy with anger? "Wait. Who are you calling 'pipsqueak!' I'm bigger than you. And anyway I'm looking at you because that's what I'm supposed to do." Meanwhile, Chellemana's hand met with Maroon Red egg. Its attitude struck the young Candidate as rather strange "Don't you want to try to meet your future rider and their classmates? If not, then what would you prefer to do today?" The questions Chelle came up with were equally strange, come to think of it. "My name is Chellemana by the way."

Melomar all the kids listed below =P Yellow Green @ Rothgar All dragons, or dragon eggs in this case, were special Rothgar. It didn't matter who they came from. It's touch felt very light and shy, almost as if it was fading in and out of reach. Maroon Red @Chellemana Maroon Red is positive it doesn't need extra help finding theirs before the Hatching. This is what their mother wanted though, so they will do it for her. What did it want to do? They weren't sure. Why are you asking daft questions? Run along now! Leather Orange @ Nashanna Once they got out of this egg, you weren't going to be bigger than them for long! It's attention seemed to reflect inward for a moment. This was a Touching, not a Looking, which is why your hand was on its shell. Was there a way to conduct a Touching without actually touching? Leather Orange needed to ponder this.

Now certain she had said her piece, Aessa smiled and thanked the teal egg with it's bumpy stripes for the time it had spent with her. She gave a little nod of her head and stood again, realizing that the others had made their way closer again. There was a moment where she swallowed her nerves before moving around them and admiring the eggs as she went. She stumbled at one point and caught herself, deciding she should rest, and settled by the Magenta Speckle, smiling, and letting her hand settle over the rough shell. It was like the roughened paper used in some holdcrafts to smooth edges and surfaces, but in a patient way. ~You've such a lovely shell, and a fantastic texture. What's inside can only be more beautiful to behold, I'm sure. Are you excited?~

Fisher / Candidate / ?? a...fisherSeemingly satisfied with whatever was going on and pretty sure nothing more was going to happen, Fisher moved on. She kept an eye on the Green mother, not sure what exactly to think apart from "eh, following rules." There were more candidates milling about now, and she paused her steps and placed a hand atop the Sunset egg. It felt pretty hot beneath her hand, though the calluses from many turns of working boats kept it at a manageable warmth. "Toasty."

Starelth quietly watches with approval as the candidates mingle. This group was doing well so far. She hoped it continued. M'li lightly fanned her skirt to cool herself a little bit. She'd be glad to get off these hot sands finally! But she wasn't going to leave Starelth. Magenta Speckle @ Aessa If an egg could have ducked its head in shy embarrassment, Magenta Speckle would have found a way at the compliment. This is really thrilling day isn't it? Getting to meet all the eggs will surely be a the highlight for the candidates today, tomorrow, and the next day. Sunset @ Fisher Fisher gets barraged with loads a images going to fast for her to focus on just one. Was that a glimpse of someone she knew or her mind playing tricks on her? Sunset hopes Fisher is pleased, it worked hard on them for her.
